Chitosan, bacterial biomass and dendrimers were the starting material for modification. Sorbents characterization was performed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). In order to investigate the sorption capabilities of sorbents, we used them for removal of heavy metal ions from aqueous solution. The effect of contact time on heavy metal ions sorption and maximum sorption capacities of biosorbents are shown. As a very important parameter of the sorption process, the effect of initial pH values on heavy metal removal was examined. This paper indicates that sorption using the material modified with TiO2 is becoming a promising alternative to conventional adsorbents in removing heavy metal ions.","PeriodicalId":12248,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis - Series: Physics, Chemistry and Technology","volume":"88 1","pages":"79-87"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84354675","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A novel approach is introduced, based on known arith-metic regularities inside the genetic code, determined by the nucleon balances of amino acids and their divisibility by the decimal number 37 [4]. As a parameter of the genetic code systematization is introduced an aggregate nucleon number of amino acid and cognate codon, while divisibility test is carried out not only by the number 37, but also by 13.7, the selfsimilarity constant of decimal scaling [5]. Relevant nucleon sums were obtained for the most prominent divisions of the standard genetic code (SGC) according to p-adic model of the vertebrate mitochondrial code (VMC) in [6]. The nucleon number divisibility pattern of 37 and 13.7 for the RNA and DNA codon space, as well as for the amino acid space is also analyzed. The obtained results, particularly a general higher divisibility of the nucleon sums by the numbers 37 and 13.7 in SGC than in VMC, as well as a correspondence between the nucleon number divisibility pattern of both the RNA codon space and the amino acid space of SGC, how separately so conjointly, with the code degeneracy pattern, suggest some conclusions: support the hypothesis [1,2,3,7] that the selective driving forces acting during an emergence (an ancient phase) and an evolution (a modern phase) of the genetic code are different, imply the existence of an environmental-dependent stereochemical mechanism throughout the entire period of the genetic code emergence and support a mineral-mediated origin of the genetic code [7,8].","PeriodicalId":12248,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis - Series: Physics, Chemistry and Technology","volume":"45 10 1","pages":"275-298"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82723412","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Namely we show that matter waves can naturally be ascribed to finite discrete causal systems, the Mealy automata having binary input/output which are bit sequences. If assign real numerical values (‘measured quantities’) to bit sequences, the waves arise as a correspondence between the numerical values of input sequences (‘impacts’) and output sequences (‘system-evoked responses’). We show that among all discrete causal systems with arbitrary (not necessarily binary) inputs/outputs, only the ones with binary input/output can be ascribed to matter waves ψ(x, t) = ei(kx−ωt).","PeriodicalId":12248,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis - Series: Physics, Chemistry and Technology","volume":"22 1","pages":"143-196"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73435268","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The field theory of tachyon matter proposed by Sen in a zero-dimensional version leads to a number of models with a particle moving under different potentials. We consider quantum propagators of the models, as well as, the vacuum states and conditions necessary to construct an adelic generalization. In addition we present inflationary scenarios for some interesting models based on analytic and numeric calculations.
