An Ontology-based rational agent uses outputs from a fuzzy inference system (reconfiguration layer) which passively monitors the performance of the lower-level sub-systems (application layer) in order to perform system reconfiguration. A reconfiguration is required to guarantee optimal performance within a complex robotics architecture when anomalous system and environmental changes take place. More importantly, this process of reconfiguration offers greater fault tolerance and reliability in novel scenarios as compared to isolated engineered systems. The current research work will apply the proposed framework to a visual navigation system for autonomous planetary rover missions. This demonstrates the method's success through an increase in system performance following a reconfiguration routine carried out within the application layer between two different types of visual navigation methods. Experimental analysis is carried out using real-world data, concluding that the proposed reconfigurable architecture gives superior performance against standard engineered techniques.","PeriodicalId":121474,"journal":{"name":"2015 SAI Intelligent Systems Conference (IntelliSys)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125172789","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Banks assess the creditworthiness of potential borrowers to lower a credit risk. Creditworthiness assessment is carried out by credit scoring methods. Most of these methods classify individuals into two categories: `good' or `bad' creditworthiness. Decision support system for loan granting based on these methods fail to differentiate the loan price for private borrowers. In practice, banks mostly grant loans applying decision support system that makes no price differentiation for individuals according to their private information. A bank may differentiate a loan price to attract a specific group of borrowers. In this paper, loan price differentiation impact on the behaviour of banks potential borrowers in the market for consumer lending is analyzed. A concept of a decision support system for loan granting based on the use of a continuous loan price function of the borrower's creditworthiness rating is proposed. Competition between banks using different loan price function of creditworthiness rating is analyzed. Borrowers with a low credit risk are interested in switching to a bank that reflects more private information in a loan price. Application of the proposed system provides a competitive advantage for a bank to attract borrowers with a low credit risk. It is shown that fuzzy logic has a potential to be applied in a decision support system based on continuous price function for granting a credit.","PeriodicalId":121474,"journal":{"name":"2015 SAI Intelligent Systems Conference (IntelliSys)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125121295","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it is complex process to develop prediction mechanism for diseases those comprise characteristics like dataset-unavailability and lengthy diagnoses procedures. Syncope is classified as one of such disease. It reduces quality of life of a person which undergoes recurrent episodes. Rule based expert systems obtain information from human experts and create rules using that information. This paper presents a rule based expert system for predicting syncope disease. Association rule mining is applied on syncope data obtained from AFIC & NIHD. Predicate logic technique is used to polish the association rules in order to draw stimulating production rules that could be used with our expert system. The proposed expert system predicts syncope 100% accurately.","PeriodicalId":121474,"journal":{"name":"2015 SAI Intelligent Systems Conference (IntelliSys)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129455203","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Commuters who choose healthier travel, such as; walking, cycling or public transport methods, are known as Active Commuters (AC). However current literature suggests private car use is still the dominant method of transport. Additionally, there are very few AC monitoring and analysis applications for mobile devices, which lead to the following research question; \"If commuters are able to monitor and analyse their travel habits, would this encourage them to choose AC methods?\" In this work we propose a novel methodology that investigates this question. This technique was implemented and tested as an Android mobile application, giving valuable insights into AC habits. The Active Commute Tracker (ACT) mobile application was developed to include the following three components: (1) Commute Transport Method Calculation component, (2) Health component and (3) Sharing component. ACT allows users to monitor and record their commute method, distance travelled in total and commute health analysis. A basic version of this data was shared on Facebook. Users tested the application for a set number of days and provided feedback of functionality, but more importantly whether or not it encouraged AC. Feedback from users confirmed that there is a demand for an application of this nature. No user was discouraged as a direct result of ACT.","PeriodicalId":121474,"journal":{"name":"2015 SAI Intelligent Systems Conference (IntelliSys)","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123641141","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These days Machine learning has become a very valuable tool for prediction. A given subset of this domain involves using supervised algorithms to intake data, analyze the data and `learn' from it. The more the data that is processed by it (training stage), the better it learns (Fitting Parameters on Training Set) and the better it will be able to predict (Prediction Stage). By feeding data to the system we are teaching the system about how the input parameters (plenum volume, exhaust and intake runner length, Engine rpm) in the data are inter-related with one another and how the values of a set of variables can change by changing the value of any one variable. The efficiencies of various regression models were used and neural networks were also implemented.","PeriodicalId":121474,"journal":{"name":"2015 SAI Intelligent Systems Conference (IntelliSys)","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121838554","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The generative capabilities of cellular automata have been used for simulating various natural, physical and chemical phenomena. Aside from these applications, the lattice grid of cellular automata has been providing a by-product interface to generate graphical patterns for digital art creation. One notable aspect of cellular automata is symmetry, detecting of which is often a difficult task and computationally expensive. This paper uses a swarm intelligence algorithm - Stochastic Diffusion Search - to extend and generalise previous works and detect partial symmetries in cellular automata generated patterns. The newly proposed technique tailored to address the spatially-independent symmetry problem is also capable of identifying the absolute point of symmetry (where symmetry holds from all perspectives) in a given pattern. Therefore, along with partially symmetric areas, the centre of symmetry is highlighted through the convergence of the agents of the swarm intelligence algorithm. This technique is potentially applicable in the domain of aesthetic evaluation where symmetry is one of the measures.","PeriodicalId":121474,"journal":{"name":"2015 SAI Intelligent Systems Conference (IntelliSys)","volume":"333 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132304029","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the asynchronize communication among the developers of a software team shows diverse effects over the team effort and productivity factors as main goals of the RUP. Although, the roles, workflow and artifacts are well documented but there is a need to fill the gap that arises due to the asynchronize communication among the developers. In Agile development, pair programming is considered the best practice for developers to work in pairs and synchronize the communication. The authors have proposed a novel framework to experience the pair programming concept among the role's communication in three main areas of the RUP such as activities of workflow, phase integration, and process and control management. We also advocate a way forward to experience the pair programming as a practice of the RUP model. We applied the framework on a team of six final year students, who developed a Management Information System (MIS) comprises on four modules (Library, Finance, Payroll and Exam-department). Subsequently, we compare the efforts and productivity of the team with another team that also comprises six students but with-out using the proposed framework. The efforts and productivity of a software team have been observed after implementation of the proposed framework. The result shows little variation in effort and productivity of both the teams, however; it may be prolific when applied to large-scale development processes.","PeriodicalId":121474,"journal":{"name":"2015 SAI Intelligent Systems Conference (IntelliSys)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131306461","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this way, it is important that the prediction remains relevant taking into account different parameters as GDP (Gross Domestic Product), weather, and so on. This work focuses on forecasting medium and long terms of Algerian electrical load using information from past consumption. This article uses time series models to forecast, different models have been implemented and tested on a database, which represents ten years of consumption. The studied model consists in predicting months and years using implicit information contained in historical ones. Three models are implemented in this work. Multiple linear regressions, artificial neural network MLP (multilayer perceptron), SVR (Support Vector Machines Regression), a parallel approach using seasons decomposition is used to have a more accurate result. One of these proposed models is relevant and is an encouraging forecasting model.","PeriodicalId":121474,"journal":{"name":"2015 SAI Intelligent Systems Conference (IntelliSys)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114521603","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It compared the (i) pursuit position gain, (ii) fixation duration and (iii) saccadic gain in slow moving targets and fast moving targets, first without music and then with music. The experiment involved a group of children, 6 males and 12 females, all aged 11 years. They were exposed to smooth pursuit and saccadic moving targets in slow tempo (adagio J = 60) at 5 sec intervals between points and in fast tempo (allegro J = 120) at 2.5 sec between points. The study found differences in outcomes for slow tempo and fast tempo targets. In slow tempo, there was a significant difference in pursuit position and saccadic gain in both conditions of without music and with music. On the other hand, for the fast tempo, significant difference was found in fixation duration and saccadic gain for both conditions of without music and with music. These results point to the positive impact of music intervention on the pre-motor and motor ocular systems suggesting its influence on visual attention in different tempo zones.","PeriodicalId":121474,"journal":{"name":"2015 SAI Intelligent Systems Conference (IntelliSys)","volume":"13 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123691621","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To gain the trust of the operator, it is important to develop a robust system, which gives the operator enough insight to take a rational choice about future steps. In this work, the maritime domain is investigated. Here, anomalies occur in trajectory data. Hence, a normal model for the trajectories has to be estimated. Despite the goal of anomaly detection in real life operations, until today, mostly simulated anomalies have been evaluated to measure the performance of different algorithms. Therefore, an annotation tool is developed to provide a ground truth on a non-simulative dataset. The annotated data is used to compare different algorithms with each other. For the given dataset, first experiments are conducted with the Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) and the Kernel Density Estimator (KDE). For the evaluation of the algorithms, precision, recall, and f1-score are compared.","PeriodicalId":121474,"journal":{"name":"2015 SAI Intelligent Systems Conference (IntelliSys)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124043167","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
