Exceptions to this are relatively local-retrofit measures that strengthen existing elements without greatly altering their stiffness.The effect of strengthening a structure is to increase the amount of total lateral Force required initiating damage events within the structure. If this strengthening is done without stiffening, then the effect is to permit the structure to achieve larger lateral displacements without damage.The seismic response of RC building frame in terms of various parameters such as base shear, storey displacement, performance point and the effect of earthquake forces on multi storey building frame with the help of pushover analysis is carried out in this paper. In the present study a building frame without Bracing, shear wall and with Bracing, shear wall is designed as per Indian standard. IS 4562000 and IS 1893-2002. The main objective of this study is to check the kind of performance a building can give when designed as per Indian Standards and also to determine the effect of providing shear wall and Bracing to building frame. The pushover analysis of the building frame is carried out by using structural analysis and design software SAP 2000. Further, the importance of Shear wall and bracing and its contribution for strengthening also discussed.","PeriodicalId":120874,"journal":{"name":"Kardan journal of engineering and technology","volume":"88 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132683710","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This problem not only affects the steel production industry and market but also the construction Industry. To determine factors contributing to this problem and their extent, a series of surveys and interviews were conducted with steel traders, wholesalers, steel production companies, construction companies, and engineers. The collected data was analyzed by SPSS (Software package for the Social Sciences) program. After a thorough investigation of the results, it was concluded that, the low investment in steel sector has created a shortage in steel products’ market. Therefore, traders import steel products legally and illegally, which in turn weakens the domestic production industry on basis of unfair competition. Moreover, a serious shortage of skilled labor, design professionals, and quality materials has shifted more attention towards the concrete structure. To address these concerns, this paper has attempted to suggest solutions that can help improve the market condition and shift attention towards building steel structures. The outcome suggests that training professionals in the steel sector, importing steel production and erection technologies, increasing tariffs on steel imports, controlling illegal imports, exploring mines and iron reserves for raw materials, and making productive investments in the steel sector are likely to contribute to the reduction of the present problems.","PeriodicalId":120874,"journal":{"name":"Kardan journal of engineering and technology","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127222743","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main aim of this study is to evaluate and identify the current administrative problems of M-R in Kabul City Road Authority (KCRA). KCRA lacks appropriate pavement maintenance strategies which have resulted in the loss of a huge value of the investment in previous years. After a detail review of scientific papers and international experience in managing asphalt M-R, based on pavement evaluation, maintenance, and PMS questionnaire was developed and an interview was conducted. Through interview and questionnaire survey of professionals; the present M-R practice of KCRA is evaluated. Responses are graded by the average index method. In conclusion, the finding of this study implies that KCRA didn’t conduct adequate pavement condition evaluation that can be sound input for recommending maintenance options, and the maintenance work is limited to overlay and pouching and performing maintenance without adequately defining the road cause of distress. Moreover, this study identifies the greatest challenges for road M-R in KCRA which is the absence of well-established PMS, lack of skilled manpower, lack of supervision and quality control, lack of budget, lack of proper machinery and equipment, and political influence respectively. The study recommended that KCRA must evaluate and apply alternative pavement assessment and maintenance techniques. Moreover, KCRA has to establish PMS to manage maintenance activities for better and optimum utilization of the resource. Further research is also suggested which includes the development of PMS and pavement treatment selection alternatives for KCRA.","PeriodicalId":120874,"journal":{"name":"Kardan journal of engineering and technology","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115746119","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For tall reinforced concrete building the P-delta effects have a significant role on building stability, because in many cases it has been seen that the collapse of tall buildings is a function of slenderness and secondary order effects. One of the very important parts which has effects on these types of buildings is P-delta, which has significant effect on building stability and ductility during the design based on seismic or wind. In this research paper it will be seen that P-delta effect is an important phenomenon for structure stability, axial force, shear capacity, story drift, maximum displacement and moment. If the P-Delta effect does not include in analysis and design phase, if resulted, the structure based on its selfweight and secondary moment may damage in many parts of the building or even collapse of structure that it will occur during seismic or wind load. Due to complexity and low knowledge of P-Delta analysis, designers, engineers and architectures are prone to perform linear static analysis which may eventually become a cause of catastrophic collapse of the tall structure.","PeriodicalId":120874,"journal":{"name":"Kardan journal of engineering and technology","volume":"106 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127619589","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Over a time period of almost decade, lot of work has been carried out on retrieval of data from wireless sensor network with different aspects. In this paper a technique is provided for retrieving Updated Copy of info (Data) situated on Least Hops (UCDSLH) in wireless sensor network. The technique works well for querying the global maxima (UCDSLH) as well from the specific data centric nodes. This retrieval is at searching cost of order one O (1). Based on time complexity and energy consumption factors, for retrieval of global maxima as compared to the existing techniques, our technique is significantly efficient. As it retrieves the interested UCDSLH without flooding in existence of metadata nodes. Parameter Refresh Protocol (PRP) populates the Metadata nodes and notifies the base station about priorities of the metadata nodes. Metadata nodes have data about the sensed data stored on the Data Centric Storage (DCS) nodes. DCS – a logical collection of multiple sensors; sited on the least hops having the UCDSLH get the high priority. Base station links to the nearest available Metadata node based on signal strength. This metadata node act as intermediate channel as it points out the DCS to retrieve the UCDSLH to satisfy the query. DCSs and metadata nodes are replicated to ensure robustness. Our algorithm shows complete procedure of our technique. We simulate and evaluate our approach with necessary query analyzer implemented in C++.","PeriodicalId":120874,"journal":{"name":"Kardan journal of engineering and technology","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127747080","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Kabul is the capital of a war-torn country, where transport is among the major problems for the lives of its inhabitants. Kabul is one of the world's fast-growing cities [1]. Central and Local agencies are not capable of meeting such a rapid increase. Traffic congestion affects not only the movement of the city's inhabitants, but also directly affects the health of the residents and causes environmental issues. One of the main causes of transport problem is the lack of public transport in the city. As a result, the number of passenger cars in the city is growing, intersections are not built multilevel, traffic regulations are not observed, land is used illegally ... The objective of this research paper is identification of the main problems, evaluation of the obtained data, proposing possible solutions that will help to reduce the current complications in Kabul transportation system.","PeriodicalId":120874,"journal":{"name":"Kardan journal of engineering and technology","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114294842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
