While the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the organization of day hospital care, this health context motivated the implementation of home immunotherapy. We evaluated the safety of home immunotherapy and the satisfaction of patients receiving anti-PD1 agents at home for melanoma. All patients with advanced melanoma, followed at Grenoble University Hospital between June 2020 and August 2021 and receiving a home infusion of anti-PD1 treatment, were included. A satisfaction questionnaire was distributed to patients and to physicians and nurses in charge of these patients. Twenty-six patients were included. No serious adverse events occurred. Of these 26 patients, 25 (96%) were satisfied with their home care. The main strengths were time savings and reduced travel. The main potential issue, according to patients, was the nurses' lack of experience. The physicians (n=5) and private nurses (n=9) were also satisfied overall (100% and 44% respectively). The main issue for nurses was the lack of training in melanoma (78%). Home-based anti-PD1 immunotherapy for advanced melanoma is safe, well accepted and welcomed by patients and caregivers. One of the difficulties raised by homecare was the lack of training of private practice nurses in pathology, which underlines the importance of developing a care pathway.</p>","PeriodicalId":11968,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Dermatology","volume":"35 1","pages":"31-37"},"PeriodicalIF":2.0,"publicationDate":"2025-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143662876","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This report provides a summary of the work carried out since 2020 on truncal acne by a group of experts in acne. The expert group reviewed their own studies as well as more recently published articles on truncal acne and its management in daily clinical practice. The experts produced four publications dating from 2020 onwards on the different issues regarding truncal acne, ranging from physiopathology, aetiology, assessment of severity, and treatment to quality of life in adolescents. Since these studies began, six other publications on truncal acne have been published. Of these, four concern investigative data on clascoterone, sarecyline and a dermocosmetic; one is a review on the management of truncal acne and acne scars, and one is an update of the American acne treatment guidelines. Moreover, the authors confirmed that interest in truncal acne has significantly increased over recent years and that new treatment options for truncal acne are either being developed or are already available. Truncal acne has significantly gained interest over recent years, and novel assessment tools and treatments are available to manage this condition efficiently. However, international treatment guidelines require updating, considering the importance of truncal acne.</p>","PeriodicalId":11968,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Dermatology","volume":"35 1","pages":"25-30"},"PeriodicalIF":2.0,"publicationDate":"2025-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143662869","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While AD lesions commonly ameliorate or resolve with age, individuals with a history of AD often retain susceptibility to irritants even after symptom remission. We aimed to investigate skin condition and barrier function of volunteers with a history of AD in order to obtain insight into their skin care. A cohort comprising 62 adults participated in this study; 30 subjects with a history of AD and 32 in the control group. Assessment parameters included hydration level, trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL), skin barrier recovery following stratum corneum damage induced by tape-stripping, skin roughness, blood flow, and skin sensitivity. Additionally, the levels of natural moisturizing factor (NMF) and ceramides of inner forearm skin were analysed. No significant differences were observed regarding hydration level, sensitivity score, and TEWL on the cheek area between the AD history and control group. Similarly, comparisons of hydration level, NMF level, ceramide level, and blood flow on the inner forearm skin did not reveal significant differences between the AD history and control group. However, the AD history group displayed significantly higher TEWL values, delayed skin barrier recovery following stratum corneum damage, and skin roughness on the inner forearm skin. Individuals with a history of AD, even after symptom resolution and displaying a normal appearance, present compromised skin barrier function and resistance to barrier damage.</p>","PeriodicalId":11968,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Dermatology","volume":"35 1","pages":"16-24"},"PeriodicalIF":2.0,"publicationDate":"2025-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143662923","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The pathogenesis remains largely unknown. Recent studies have shown that platelets play important roles in psoriasis, but the association between platelets and EP is unclear. This study aimed to analyse, for the first time, the clinical significance of platelet-related parameters in EP patients. We retrospectively investigated the clinical and laboratory data of 92 EP patients, 93 sex/age-matched psoriasis vulgaris (PsV) patients, and 93 matched healthy controls (HC). The platelet-related parameters, including platelet count, plateletcrit (PCT), mean platelet volume (MPV), platelet distribution width (PDW), platelet large cell ratio (P-LCR) and platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR), were compared between the three groups. Associations between these parameters and disease severity, and between platelet count and complications of EP were analysed, and compared before and after treatment. Platelet count, PCT, and PLR were significantly elevated in EP compared with PsV and HC (p < 0.001). MPV was higher in EP patients compared with HC (p < 0.001). Based on ROC analyses, moderate-to-severe and mild EP could be clearly distinguished based on platelet count and PCT. In terms of complications, a platelet count level ≥ 270 × 109/L was associated with a significantly higher rate of hypoalbuminemia and abnormal liver function. After treatment, platelet count, PCT, and PLR were significantly reduced. Our data show, for the first time, a significant alteration of platelet-related parameters in EP patients, indicating a strong association between platelets and EP. Platelet count and PCT may be used as cost-effective and simple tools to serve as systemic markers for EP.</p>","PeriodicalId":11968,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Dermatology","volume":"35 1","pages":"9-15"},"PeriodicalIF":2.0,"publicationDate":"2025-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143662904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
