For that, a performance evaluation using a formal model is necessary in order to make a judicious satisfaction of the user request, To better manage and to guarantee a good quality of the service (QoS). This paper represents a performance evaluation model using an open Jackson network for a request satisfaction system in the IaaS Cloud environment. The response time and the utilization are obtained using the rules of the open Jackson network. These performance parameters are used to quantity the Availability and the Elasticity of the IaaS Cloud. The Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud computing paradigms offer advances to enhance PA connectivity but typical IoT measurements are not the only data sources available for crop management systems. The great development of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) provides a powerful tool for analyze the crop status in a near real time extent, concretely the images from Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellite have revolutionized PA. Also, there is a lot of unstructured agricultural data disseminated on websites that can be very useful if collected systematically trough web scraping techniques. In this article we present a real-life example of such heterogenous data to serve as complement for a cutting-edge smart farming platform. Specifically, the calculation of the Crop Evapotranspiration has been projected as a case study.","PeriodicalId":119426,"journal":{"name":"2020 Second International Conference on Embedded & Distributed Systems (EDiS)","volume":"62 27","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133087154","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It focuses primarily on starvation issues related to low priority flows. Based on mutually exclusive logical functions, a new approach to differentiate flows is used. Each Access Category (AC) has its own logical function that determines whether it has permission to transmit or not. Access is then granted to flows in a deterministic way, taking into account the instantaneous state of the station, and therefore, the network. Logical EDCA has been modelized, implemented and simulated on NS3 Network Simulator. The results are very encouraging.","PeriodicalId":119426,"journal":{"name":"2020 Second International Conference on Embedded & Distributed Systems (EDiS)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122201388","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this work is to study the impact of the geometric shape mounted on the rotor on the improvement of heat transfer in electrical machines. For this purpose, the SST (Shear Stress Transport) model has been employed to predict the thermal effect inside the grooves. The simulated results are given in terms of streamlines, isotherms, temperature profiles and local Nusselt numbers. The results show that the trapezoidal shape «b=10mm» is interesting from a thermal point of view compared to other configurations (rectangular and trapezoidal «b=30mm» shapes).","PeriodicalId":119426,"journal":{"name":"2020 Second International Conference on Embedded & Distributed Systems (EDiS)","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124957703","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, sensors attached to their body parts (neck, leg and back, etc) are useful to quantify these behaviors. Indeed, numerous sensors are used to predict diseases, stress, etc. However, they are restricted by constraints such as their size and the power consumption. In this study, we propose a new non-invasive and energy-efficient sensor to monitor and classify in real time the dairy cow’s behaviors. It uses an accelerometer to track the inclination of the dairy cows’ backs. This sensor detects cow motion activities and transition periods between standing and lying. To reduce power consumption, a new data selection method is integrated in the sensor to reduce the data before performing the classification. Moreover, a new time-driven technique based on sleep/wake-up methods is adopted. The results show an accuracy of 100% in transition detection with a data reduction of 99.2% and the approximate power consumption of the sensor is 0.043 mA.","PeriodicalId":119426,"journal":{"name":"2020 Second International Conference on Embedded & Distributed Systems (EDiS)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114518298","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
