The aim of the study was to analyze the correlations between the moment of initiation of treatment (nusinersen) and clinical evolution, and also the change of electrophysiological parameters and motor scales, fol-lowed up for 2 years. This study was carried out between 2018 and 2022 on 60 SMA children (29 girls, 31 boys), (29 type 1 and 31 type 2; 29 with 2 copies of SMN2, 29 with 3 copies, and 2 with 4 copies), aged between 3 weeks and 196 months, divided into 2 groups according type of SMA. For both types of SMA, statistically significant negative correlations were found between the elapsed interval from the onset of the disease to the initiation of treatment and upper motor acquisitions (type 1: p < 0.0001, r = -0.713, type 2: p<0.001, r = -0.560) and between age at the beginning of treatment and improvement in motor function (type 1: p <0.0001, r =-0.726, type 2: p<0.001, r=-0.553). For patients with type 2 SMA, a negative correlation was also identified between age at the time of onset and motor evolution (p<0.05, r = -0.378). Electrophysiological parameters were strongly positive correlated with motor improvement (p<0.0001, r=0.600). Our study established the necessity of early SMA diagnosis and therapy beginning, and demonstrated that Compound Motor Action Potential can be a predictive factor in the disease's progression.\u0000Keywords: Compound Motor Action Potential; motor scales; Spinal Muscular Atrophy

Vitamin D deficiency (VDD) produces secondary hyperparathyroidism, loss of bone quality and mass, mineral-ization effects and fractures, myopathy, and falls. The avascular necrosis (AVN) of the femoral head pathophysiology is still unclear and can be considered a vascular bone dis-ease. Our paper aimed to evaluate the etiology of AVN in a young male with bilateral fem-oral neck damage who required bilateral arthroplasty. Method: We present the case of a 46-year-old male patient with VDD and bilateral total hip arthroplasty for osteoarthritis secondary to AVN of the femoral head. After complete hormonal, biological, and imaging evaluations, the diagnosis of primary hyperparathyroidism was not supported; the im-provement of vitamin D deficiency after eight months of treatment clarified the diagnosis: hyperparathyroidism secondary to vitamin D deficiency. Results: Supplementation with 4000 IU of vitamin D improved the patient’s response to specific rehabilitation methods. Conclusions: Severe vitamin D deficiency can secondarily affect the structure of the femoral head through secondary hyperparathyroidism, producing AVN, but only osteopenia was obtained on DXA evaluation. VDD can be an important etiological factor in the occur-rence of AVN, and its correction can improve the evolution of the disease, improving the reabilitation of these patients.\u0000Keywords: avascular necrosis, secondary hyperparathyroidism, vitamin D deficiency, rehabilitation

Many of the fractures need metallic implants for a more efficient healing process and a reduced risk of complications. An implant can be used in orthopedic surgery if it can safely interact with the bone and the surrounding tissue. The most used materials in fracture management are metal alloys (Steel, Titanium, Cobalt-Chrome) that need to be compatible with tissue, however, they do not stimulate the healing process. Physiotherapy could improve the bone/implant interaction by stimulating the local metabolism and cell proliferation while also reducing local symptoms such as pain. The advantages of using LASER therapy are: a reduced number of contraindications, the availability of the equipment in rehabilitation facilities, and the compliance of patients as there is no discomfort during the procedure. The main drawback of using LASERs in bone stimulation is that there is no consensus in protocol usage between researchers because of the multitude of parameters. Skin dis-eases such as Atopic eczema and Psoriasis vulgaris are a worldwide problem. Use of topi-cal corticosteroids is the first-line treatment for atopic dermatitis flare-ups. Last individual case studies led to the hypothesis: Baths with microbubbles in tap water can significantly support the treatment of skin diseases. Microbubbles penetrate deep into the skin pores. Micro implosions occur on the pore walls, which mechanically affect nerve endings and vascular microcapillaries. In addition, due to the implosion of microbubbles, the mechan-ical effect leads to an increased release and flushing of substances contained in the skin pores. A total of 30 patients were selected for the study, of which 15 were included in the Study Group and 15 in the Control Group. The effects were monitored on the objectively evaluable dermatological calculators PASI, EASI, SCORAD, and DLQI Score, Quality of life, and Number and condition of foci. Among those individuals, there is a specific category of patients – the ones with immune-mediated rheumatic diseases (IMIDs) – whose mantra from the diagnosis was to avoid infections at all costs because of the additional negative impact on the immune sys-tem and overall reactivity. Objective: Considering the aforementioned, our objective is to understand the in-depth relation of the immune system of patients with IMIDs in the set-ting of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), and the real bur-den of the disease and vaccination against COVID-19. Materials and Methods: In this res-pect, we have conducted a thoroughly systematic literature review according to the “Prefer-red Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA)” concept. Following its five-steps algorithm, we first selected 745 articles that were published in re-putable international medical databases, ISI-indexed, for the period 1 January, 2021–31 December, 2022. After consequent elimination of duplicates, of articles that were not En-glish-written and “open access” and then applying PEDro classification/scoring-inspired, only 58 articles were selected for in-depth full qualitative reading. In the last stage,20 arti-cles were “excluded with reasons”, because they didn’t offer significant information. The-refore, in our systematic literature review, 38 articles were included. Results: In the data gathered in this review we described the molecular pathways of activation of the immune system triggered by COVID-19, with significance on the clinical and paraclinical aspects of IMID patients infected with the new Coronavirus. Patients with IMIDs are at higher risk for hospitalization if diagnosed with SARS-CoV2 and more prone to severe outcomes and death. Risk factors associated with severe outcomes and death are: age, comorbidities, un-derlying disease activity, therapies used (“the good” being anti-tumor necrosis factor α, “the bad” – Methotrexate, Sulfasalazine, Azathioprine and “the ugly” – anti CD20 mono-clonal antibodies). There were several reports of flares and new-onset of IMIDs after CO-VID-19 and after vaccination against this disease, but data from larger studies and registri-es do not confirm higher incidence of flare-ups or new-onset IMIDs. Regarding vaccination, of mounting importance is the timing between immunomodulatory and immunosuppres-sive agents and the administration of the vaccine. And last but not the least, we discussed about Long COVID and the role of artificial intelligence in the pandemic and related-drug development. Discussion and Conclusion: The data in our systematic literature review is consistent with the expertise from our clinical practice. Purpose: Analysis of muscle strength variations for female students of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport/undergraduate level, according to sports specializations. Mate-rial and method: The study included 77 women (age = 20.48 ± 1.37 years, weight = 58.79 ± 8.92 kg, height = 166.24 ± 7.13 cm), divided into 3 evaluation subgroups (Non-athletes/NA = 40 cases, Team sports games/TSG = 17 cases and IS/Individual sports = 20 cases). Explosive strength rating was based on 7 lower body tests and 6 upper body tests. Manova parametric techniques were applied. Results: The analysis of variance indicates significant differences between the 3 defined groups, the F values correspond to thresholds p <0.05. Pairwise analysis highlights the statistical superiority of TSG and IS groups compared to NA. We noted better values of the TSG group of women in all upper body strength assessment tests, but these differences are not significant (p>0.05). Top performance values are dominated by sprinters and volleyball players for the low-er body, respectively by handball, volleyball and karate players for the upper body, as-pects confirmed by the studied sources. To simulate periodontal pa-thology, white laboratory rats were given a solution of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (2%) daily with drinking water and three times a week; the drug "Warfarin Orion" was administered per os for 30 days. Animals were randomly divided into four equal groups of 10 each. Group 1 - intact rats; group 2 - rats with a model of pаrodontitis; group 3 - rats with a model and applications on the mucous membrane of the alveolar process gel "Pla-cebo". Group 4 - rats with a pаrodontitis model and applications on the mucous mem-brane of the alveolar process of the gel with the violet extract. In periodontal tissues and blood serum, we studied the level of inflammation markers - malondialdehyde (MDA) and diene conjugation. The state of the antioxidant defense system (AODS) was also assessed by the activity of glutathione peroxidase (GP), glutathione reductase (GR), glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-PD), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and catalase. The pаro-dontitis model in rats of the 2nd group was characterized by the development of inflam-matory processes in periodontal tissues and blood, which is confirmed by changes in the pro- and antioxidant protection system. In rats of the 4th group, the content of MDA was restored in periodontal tissues. The state of the AOP system was normalized (decrease in the activity of SOD and catalase to the values of group 1), the tension in the glutathione-antioxidant defense system disappeared (the activity of GP decreased, and the activity of GR and G-6-PDH increased to the level control). In the blood serum, the content of MDA significantly reduced, and the level of DC remained higher than in group 1.In contrast, sta-bilization of the activity of marker enzymes of glutathione-antioxidant protection in blood serum (GP, GR, G-6-PDH) was noted with significant activation of the activity of SOD and catalase, with stabilization of SOD and catalase.\u0000Conclusion. The periodontal protective effectiveness of the gel with tricolor violet was es-tablished, as evidenced by the restoration of the state of protective antioxidant systems and the inhibition of lipid peroxidation processes both directly in the periodontal tissues and at the system level.\u0000Keywords: experimental pаrodontitis, lipid peroxidation, antioxidant protection, gel with tricolor violet.
