The importance of voluntary disclosure in annual reports has increased manifold as lower information availability carries more risk premium for investors. Corporate Scandals across the globe shattered the confidence of investors and enhances the significance of disclosure in annual reports. The purpose of the study is to provide better insights of voluntary disclosure practices and measurement context of voluntary disclosure used by researchers. The study reviewed 50 research papers taken from relevant research databases such as Emerald, JSTOR, Scopus (Elsevier), Science Direct (Elsevier) and SSRN-Social Science Research Network for the period starting from 1998 to 2020. The results of study indicated that seventy percent of studies used self-constructed index to measure voluntary disclosure and 26 percent of papers provided information relating to corporate social components and the extent of disclosure provided by companies is least due to presence of information cost.","PeriodicalId":119023,"journal":{"name":"Orissa Journal of Commerce","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127520520","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An attempt has been made to assess the consumers’ loyalty through analysis of the factors influencing buying decisions towards these products. The data were collected from 550 selected respondents from the Sambalpur District of Odisha through random sampling. Exploratory Factor Analysis, Confirmatory Factor Analysis, Structural Equation Modeling, Garrett Ranking Technique and ANOVA have been applied to the data as per the objective. This study reveals thatmost consumers are highly familiar with Sambalpuri Handloom. Sambalpuri Bastralaya is the most preferred destination for the respondents and the usage of Sambalpuri Handloom is influenced by product specifications as well as market reach. Therefore, the focus of the policymakers should be on bringing handloom products within consumers’ reach in terms of product, price, promotion and physical distribution.","PeriodicalId":119023,"journal":{"name":"Orissa Journal of Commerce","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114370062","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to the commercial purpose, developing countries turn to an area for mineral extraction. Mining projects have had a severe impact on the socio-economic and environmental setup of rural communities. Besides, cutting down the forest will have a negative impact on the human-forest relationship for many years to come. It caused severe damage to local ecology, rural livelihoods and social order as a whole. The study is looking at how coal mining-induced displacement affects the rural livelihoods of the villages in the Talcher coal belt, Odisha. Additionally, it causes a social imbalance and a new class of vulnerable people in the area. The negative effects of coal mining significantly reduced traditional livelihoods like farming, raising livestock, and gathering minor forest products. The paper concludes that while mining has given people opportunities for income, it has also put rural livelihoods in danger.","PeriodicalId":119023,"journal":{"name":"Orissa Journal of Commerce","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115476904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
