Dual Active Bridge (DAB) topology is a serious candidate to be implemented within these converters. In order to increase the power density, the trend is to operate with a higher switching frequency. Thanks to Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS) operation, DAB topology allows the switching losses to be reduced. Theoretically, the ZVS operation range depends only on the operating range of the converter. In reality, since the parasitic elements are involved in the soft switching process, the ZVS operation range may be modified. In this paper, the authors propose an analysis of the soft switching process for the case of a SiC MOSFET based DAB converter. This study is based on analytical analysis and experimental results obtained with a 1.2 kV −100 kW DC-DC converter prototype.","PeriodicalId":117883,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion (SPEEDAM)","volume":"136 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122757059","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this reason it is necessary to maximize the efficiency almost for the wireless energy transfer (WET) systems, which are rapidly increasing their practical implementation in various application areas. This article deals with the analysis of the most suitable operating point of the serial - serial (SS) compensated WET system, while proper control system is proposed for maintenance the required operational point (simultaneously the highest possible efficiency and the highest power delivery). The article presents circuit solution for control of WET system, whereby main characteristic of proposal is related to the ability of achieving maximal efficiency and maximal power delivery within any mutual distance between transmitter and receiver. Proposal is initially confirmed by analysis of transfer characteristics of SS compensated WET system, and consequently experimentally verified with the measurements on the system prototype.","PeriodicalId":117883,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion (SPEEDAM)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132842950","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The only possibility to obtain such kind of results is to combine Finite Element programs with optimization procedures. For this reason, a multi-objective optimization algorithm has been developed, and it has been used to design a Synchronous Reluctance Motor with flux barriers rotor, starting from the stator core of a commercial three-phase induction motor of equivalent size. Cascaded H-bridges (CHB) can be used to connect a photovoltaic plant directly to a medium voltage grid without a grid frequency transformer, as the topology has an inherent requirement of having an isolation between the series connected cells. Cascaded H-bridges has a feature that the DC link voltages of the cells have a voltage fluctuation at twice the output frequency. This fluctuation can be reduced by limiting the power towards the capacitor during intervals when the output power is low. The effect of discontinuous mode interval length on the photovoltaic side is studied. The benefits of the proposed method are reduced switching losses at the isolating DC-DC converter and reduced switching losses at the grid inverter due to smaller peak voltages of the DC links.","PeriodicalId":117883,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion (SPEEDAM)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131494091","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of the optimization is minimizing the initial cost, as well as the running costs of the vehicle. Therefore there is a multi-objective design optimization problem in hand. Such problems are very suitable for mathematical optimization, however, accurate and not time consuming design procedure is a must, to obtain meaningful results. This paper introduces such a design procedure. The approach is illustrated on a commercial vehicle simulation model. The accuracy of the model is illustrated by comparing simulation results with vehicle test results.","PeriodicalId":117883,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion (SPEEDAM)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132044073","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to increasing energy expenses and decreasing production cost for CHP units, those became also interesting for residential applications. This paper contributes to this research field by introducing a holistic system design including the control strategy and a superordinate energy management. In residential applications, there are no financial sustainable CHP units available if the peak power demand should be provided by the CHP unit. A cheaper approach could be to integrate an electrical storage system, which is investigated in this contribution. However, it was revealed that profitability cannot be reached according to actual price ranges of batteries and electricity. So, coupling a CHP unit with an electrical storage system is only useful if autarky is explicitly requested for example in rural applications.","PeriodicalId":117883,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion (SPEEDAM)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122447257","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The capacitor in the first SC cell serves two purposes: a) the traditional one of voltage multiplier; b) clamping the voltage across the switch for avoiding spikes induced by the leakage inductance at the switch turn-off. A switch of low voltage rating can be used. The capacitor in the second SC cell, besides the role of a voltage multiplier, makes the output diode to be submitted to a voltage smaller than the output voltage. Thus, one of the disadvantages of the boost-derived converters is avoided. The leakage inductance energy is recuperated via the capacitors in the two SC cells and transferred to the load. As a result, without affecting the high de gain, the efficiency is considerable improved. A description of the operation and a steady-state analysis of the proposed converter is presented. The proposed converter of 11V input, 400V output, nominal power 200W was simulated and tested in the laboratory.","PeriodicalId":117883,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion (SPEEDAM)","volume":"774 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116977796","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paradigm has limited the potential of BESSs to drive down overall energy costs and reduce carbon emissions. Nowadays, the exponential growth of data available on the industrial plants has opened the way to new possibilities and opportunities. In addition, BESSs are a viable opportunity to start transforming existing plants with an incremental hybridization of the plant topology. In light of the above, this work develops a commissioning tool that, starting from the data collected on the field, provides the final users the optimal dimensioning of any BESS - according to the taraet performances required bv the specific application.","PeriodicalId":117883,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion (SPEEDAM)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116348506","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
