In Khulasat al-ahwal, compiled in Persian, the author outlines the main stages of his life and many years of service in the administration of the ruler of the Tashkent vilayet, where he held various positions – from a clerk and secretary to a tax collector and head of tax collection. The purpose of this study is to introduce into academic discourse new material on the socio-economic situation and the administrative system of governance in the Tashkent vilayet and Desht-i Kipchak contained in Khulasat al-ahwal, as well as provide source information on the historical geography of this region. The revealed factual material from Khulasat al-ahwal showed that the autobiographical records of Abu Ubaydallah Muhammad contain original data on the activities of Khoqand senior officials, the difficult internal political situation in the Tashkent vilayet in the period from 1826 to 1865. The memoirs of Abu Ubaydallah Muhammad reflected subjective assessments of the events taking place in the Tashkent vilayet and Desht-i Kipchak. However, the author conveys to us the moods of certain sections of the population of the vilayet, who had a negative attitude towards the domestic policy pursued by the Khoqand officials. Khulasat al-ahwal has yet to be studied in detail since much of the factual information of this original historical source has not yet been studied enough and is not available to a wide readership.","PeriodicalId":117377,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the L.N. Trade caravans transported silk, paper, and bronze mirrors from China to the West, as well as carpets, tapestries, wool, and glassware from the West to China. Many other valuable things and precious stones, fragrant oils, and various material values of the East and West also came into the trade through this route. The Great Silk Road was not only a trade route but also an excellent platform for dialogue between different cultures and civilizations. Obviously, the continental trade corridor that passed through Europe, through many countries of China, Central Asia, and India, through various historical and cultural areas, carried not only material values but also the spirit and knowledge of their time from one environment to another. Cultural and everyday values, formed at the junction of different civilizations, are expressed through language and leave their mark on the national consciousness. The study of cultural changes and civilizations along the Great Silk Road is very important for Kazakhstan. Each of the cultures that made up the cultural heritage of the Great Silk Road not only sought to develop its existence but also developed through self-understanding and mutual understanding through the creative synthesis of each other's wealth and potential. To give an adequate assessment of this great period of our history today and revive the memory in our minds through interdisciplinary research is a very important task that will contribute to determining the future direction of our country.","PeriodicalId":117377,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the L.N. Documentary materials from the archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan represent the source study base of the research. Based on the analysis of archival sources, the transformation of state-Muslim relations is shown as the Soviet power strengthened: from a tolerant attitude towards Islam in the first years of the victory of the Bolsheviks to the complete secularization of the rights and freedoms of Muslims in the following decades. The author gives a characteristic of the forms and methods of the anti-religious struggle of the Soviet state, substantiates the thesis about its harmful influence on the spiritual life of Muslims that, under conditions of the most severe administrative pressure and total restriction, took the form of a semi-legal existence. The policy of the Soviet state in relation to Islam was built considering the political situation in the country. The loyalty of politics in the early years of Soviet power to a certain extent contributed to the temporary revival of the religious movement. It was due to the desire of the latter to receive political support from a huge number of Muslims of the former Russian Empire, including Kazakhstan. At the same time, loyalty did not exclude the conduct of anti-religious propaganda aimed at limiting Islam. As the Soviet power strengthened, the anti-Islamic doctrine became tougher, acquiring the character of an uncompromising struggle aimed at closing the objects of a religious cult and spiritual education, limiting, and then eliminating the Muslim clergy, etching the religious worldview from the minds of the masses, and imposing communist ideology. The declared “class struggle against the enemies of socialism,” which included the Muslim clergy, became the political underpinnings of the tightening of confessional policy. Public organizations made their contribution to whipping up the atmosphere of intolerance towards religion, to the destruction of the spiritual foundations of society: the Union of Militant Atheists of Kazakhstan, Anti-religious, the Union «Koshchi».","PeriodicalId":117377,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the L.N. The study analyzes the evolution of the attitude of the Soviet regime towards the kulaks within the framework of the policy of collectivization. The author analyzed the goals of the repressive policy in the 30s of the twentieth century, the criteria, and the mechanism for selecting the repressed. The article also considers a number of the main problems of the history of mass repressions against the kulaks during the Great Terror in 1937-1938. The main attention is paid to identifying the specifics of repressive measures in relation to various target groups of order № 00447: former kulaks, participants in peasant uprisings, clergy, religious activists, and criminals. Based on the microhistorical approach, the focus of repressions on strengthening the collective farm system is determined. Documents gathered during the expedition searching for information about kulaks from the archives of Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan, in which the author took part, was used as a source base for the article. Besides archival materials, oral histories gathered by the Esimde research platform from the families and descendants of kulaks deported to Ukraine, and open information published in the mass media were used.","PeriodicalId":117377,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the L.N. On the basis of data from archival documents and materials from oral sources, the authors analyze the life of Soviet Kazakhstan schoolchildren during the war years. Тhe authors used materials from the funds of the archives of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation. Archival documents show the real situation in Soviet schools and boarding schools, and interview materials taken from “children of the war” supplement the study with memories of participants in the events of the war years. The authors, using the data of a number of regions of Kazakhstan as an example, show the changes that have occurred in the school system, one of them was a decrease in the number of schoolchildren during the war years. The reasons for the change in the number of students, especially in high school, among the girls of Kazakh schools are also being investigated. On the basis of statistical data, the article studies the problems of organizing schoolchildren's education in boarding schools, as well as the role of boarding school for the implementation of the general education program for remote settlements of the republic. Although domestic historical science has a number of studies on the problems of Kazakh schools during the war years, the history of the childhood of Kazakh children of the war years has not yet become the object of special study.","PeriodicalId":117377,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the L.N. The condition of orphanages on the territory of Central Kazakhstan left much to be desired, as evidenced by the inspection materials presented in the article. The contingent of orphans often exceeded the number of available places, the quality of food did not meet the standards, the buildings of children's institutions and outbuildings needed repair. These problems were fixed by inspections, but there was not always a result in the form of elimination of current problems. There were many reasons for why children were left without relatives: the inability to feed a family, having many children forced parents to take their children to orphanages, the loss of loved ones during evacuation, the separation of imprisoned mothers with children, etc. As a result, they ended up in orphanages, or became street children, or were adopted or given for foster care. The article examines the history of orphanages in Central Kazakhstan, based on archival data, which reflects the reality of orphans in the Khrushchev period. The article was prepared on the basis of archival materials of the State Archive of Karaganda region and the State Archive of Karkaraly district.","PeriodicalId":117377,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the L.N. In 2016, the patriotic act «Mangilik El» was implemented, and also in 2017, for the specification of this ideological message by profile nationwide programs, which include the creation of a specialized research center «Sacral Kazakhstan», research and analytical activity began to understand and the definition of objects that could meet the requirements in the nomination - to be sacred objects. The research center «Sacral Kazakhstan», which belongs to state research institutions, has developed lists of sacred objects, which include cultural and historical places of Kazakhstan sanctuary of national and regional significance. In January 2018, SRC «Sacral Kazakhstan» published the first series of books, where the objects were divided into two categories: «The Kazakhstan sacred objects of whole national importance» and «The Kazakhstan sacred objects of regional importance». In the first edition, the nationwide list included 185 objects, using the principle of equal representation from each region; 500 objects that did not pass this selection, but which were also nominated for the nationwide, were added to the regional list. These books are an invaluable information guide to the natural and historical monuments of the native land. In this article, using the example of a nationwide sacred capital object, real practices of pilgrimage to the Muslim cemetery «Karaotkel» will be recorded, as well as schemes of analysis will be studied who is the memory actor of this cemetery, which is included in the list of sacred objects of the city of Astana / Nur- Sultan. Meanwhile, this visual source is an important component of the analysis of Soviet ethnonational policy of the 1920s-1930s. Filmography at the initial stage of its formation captured the transition of Kazakh society from tradition to modernity, deep socio-economic and other transformations in the Kazakh ASSR. The silent and sound documentary chronicles, reports, more complex in composition and drama film documents stored in the funds of the Central State Archive of Film and Sound Recordings of the Republic of Kazakhstan are of undoubted value. Almost all the most significant transformations in the republic in the early Soviet period were captured by experienced directors and cameramen in such a way that they give a concrete and voluminous idea of the changes in the social structure of society, the formation of the national working class and ethno-political elite, the solution of the \"women's issue\", urbanization, economic specialization of the regions of the Kazakh ASSR, the introduction of new standards of professional activity and private practices, daily life and major political events. Of great interest are the films recorded by documentary filmmakers, dramaturgically and compositionally arranged in accordance with the main trends in the development of cinema, as well as the socio-cultural and ideological-political paradigm of the Soviet state. Along with the traditional archival and published written historical sources available to scientists, film documents serve to study and complex understanding of the essence, manifestations and results of nation-building in the 1920s and 1930s. The article considers examples of a number of documentaries of the greatest interest for understanding modernization shifts and ambivalent manifestations of the transformations of the era of industrialization, collectivization and cultural revolution in the Kazakh ASSR.","PeriodicalId":117377,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the L.N.
