It allows researchers to interact with system via single service using platform-independent standard named Web service to add, search and retrieve bibliographic information of review articles in various science and technology fields and build-up a dedicated database for these articles in each science and technology field. In addition, rich features that offered by proposed system are studied and described. However, this paper explains in detail the proposed system using computing area due to the existence of detailed taxonomy of this area. Accordingly, the proposed system will be applicable to support any other science and technology subject area without any need to modify this system as long as the taxonomy for this area exists in the system.","PeriodicalId":117185,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Information Science & Applications (ICISA)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128881740","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various field map estimation techniques that use three-point multi-echo acquisitions have been developed for reliable water fat separation. Among the numerous techniques, iterative decomposition of water and fat with echo asymmetry and least squares estimation (IDEAL) has gained considerable popularity as an iterative method for acquiring high-quality water and fat images. However, due to the worsened B0 inhomogeneity at high-field, IDEAL cannot adjust for meaningful field map estimation, particularly for a large field of view. Previously, to improve the robustness of this estimation, a region-growing (RG) technique was developed to take advantage of the 2D linear extrapolation procedure through the seed point set by the median value in the target object. There are some limitations with this approach, such as the dependence on the initial seed point, such as a number, intensity, and position of the seed point. In this work, we introduce a effective method called the improved least square fit method that does not need to consider parameters related with accuracy. As a result of the proposed method, we obtained a effective fat quantification result that can be applied in high-fields, with an average water residual rate of 7.2% higher than the existing method.","PeriodicalId":117185,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Information Science & Applications (ICISA)","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130648783","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the proposed framework, co-occurrence and spatial relationship based features are developed to improve the categorization problem of the objects with high intra-class variation, deformable objects or the objects that are occluded. The descriptor in this framework is based on a co-occurrence of objects and hand poses, a relative position between objects and face, an object motion, and an object appearance. For co-occurrence based features, hand pose prototypes are generated by using K-means clustering. The co- occurrence vectors between objects and hand poses are observed from image frames and used as features. For spatial relationship based features, the histogram of relative positions between object and face and histogram of object motion vectors are applied. The evaluation is performed on six classes of objects in 180 videos. The proposed framework can improve the recognition rate by 30.1% in comparison with the object appearance baseline.","PeriodicalId":117185,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Information Science & Applications (ICISA)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127867537","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose an indexing approach to improve the efficiency of the top-k query answering for a prominent location-based recommendation model, User-centered collaborative location and activity filtering (UCLAF). The efficiency issue of such query type is important since there could be enormous users, locations, and activities in the recommendation model. When a query is issued, not all of the answers are to be obtained, but only a few most-relevant answers. Our proposed work is based on a multi-dimensional index, aR-Tree. A feature of such index tree, i.e. only-relevant information traversal, is utilized with some modification. In addition, the experiments have been conducted to evaluate our proposed work. In which, the results, which our work is compared with a few indexing methods, show that our work is highly efficient when system is scaled up.","PeriodicalId":117185,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Information Science & Applications (ICISA)","volume":"180 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123282231","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we aim to look at the patient appointment process as the hospital is experiencing high volume of \"no shows\". \"No shows\" have a high impact on longer appointment lead time for patients, poor patient satisfaction and loss of revenue for hospital. We use data analytics to identify pattern of \"no shows\", develop a statistical model to predict the probability of \"no shows\" and finally operationalizing the model to embed the analytics solution in the business process to reduce the number of \"no shows\" in the hospital. Exploratory data analysis (EDA) was used to find out the major causes of no shows based on patient demographic information, patient appointment detail and SMS reminder response. Data mining techniques such as logistic regression and recursive partitioning were used on training, test and validation data to predict patients who have high probability of \"no show\". We present the analytical outcomes and findings from our model. Our logistic regression model could predict around 70% of the \"no show\" cases correctly with a Kappa coefficient of 0.41 on validation data. Based on our finding, we have recommended different strategies to the operations staff for possible reduction of no show slots.","PeriodicalId":117185,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Information Science & Applications (ICISA)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123000865","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Variety of roadside and mobile sensing platforms will be deployed to allow communication between vehicles with Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC). Traffic data received from moving vehicles will be transmitted to each individual vehicle and traffic management center to provide real time traffic information. Microscopic traffic simulation models will be used for traffic analysis and prediction, since they have the highest detailed level of prediction such as vehicle / driver characteristics and have the capability to capture dynamically changing traffic conditions through the simulation. In this study, three communication methods are used including Ethernet, off-the-shelf wireless network, and one commercial network provider for data communication. Simulation time is measured using three different communication methods and one non-communication case. Based on the Kruskal-Wallis test and multiple comparisons using Bonferroni Adjustment, Fisher's Protected LSD and Tuckey's HSD, it can be concluded that simulations with off-the-shelf wireless network or 'Commercial network provider' are different with 'no communication' or 'Ethernet communication'. Also, the original signal plan and new signal plan do not make a significant difference on travel delay.","PeriodicalId":117185,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Information Science & Applications (ICISA)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125097464","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Examples of such applications include language translation, text summarization, question answering, plagiarism detection, and online information retrieval. A number of metrics have been proposed in the literature to quantify the textual similarity between two sentences. However, the accuracy of utilizing each similarity metric alone in detecting paraphrases is very low. Though some machine learning (ML) techniques have been deployed for paraphrase detection, there is no known study that intensively benchmarks their performance on this problem under similar conditions. In this paper, we evaluate the utility of integrating five lexical similarity metrics with three standard machine learning paradigms to detect paraphrases. We apply statistical tests to compare and benchmark the relative significance of the adopted ML-based paraphrase detectors on different datasets.","PeriodicalId":117185,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Information Science & Applications (ICISA)","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115206739","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the mobility of the user equipment (UE) may disrupt or even intermittently disconnect an ongoing session, which heavily affects the satisfaction of the users. Therefore, how to reduce the service disruption time is an important issue. This paper proposed a network-based handover scheme, abbreviated as NHO, in IMS-based network. When a UE moves to a new network and completes the attach procedure during a mid-session, the access gateway (e.g. PDN-GW in LTE) will send a SIP PUBLISH message with secure context transfer request to the newly attached P-CSCF. Then the new P-CSCF will accomplish the secure context transfer to get the context information of the UE, and then perform the IMS registration procedure and the IMS session setup procedure on behalf of the UE in parallel. The novelty of NHO is that it only requires minor modifications to the attach procedure, and enhances MME, Serving-GW, PDN-GW, HSS, and P-CSCF slightly. Analytical results based on queuing theory show that NHO can shorten the handover delay as compared with current alternatives.","PeriodicalId":117185,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Information Science & Applications (ICISA)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115404100","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
