In this kind of stand-alone power system, the system is divided into several modules. The load is no longer connected to the tie line directly. The power flows through a set of AC-DC-AC equipments in order to increase flexibility In the architectural system design and optimize the fuel efficiency. The load becomes a constant power type and it may increase the system instability as well. In this paper, the authors tried to study the system with the theories of voltage collapse by using a mathematical model. Finally, the authors apply the FACTS devices as the solution of the stability problem in such a kind of system based on the research result from the mathematical model.","PeriodicalId":117177,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Power Engineering Society Summer Meeting,","volume":"112 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117110638","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The controllers are placed in the system to control electromechanical oscillations (Hopf bifurcations) and the corresponding gains are tuned to observe their effect on oscillatory modes and overall system performance. Studies are carried out to compare performances of these controllers in a wide variety of operating and fault conditions. The damping introduced by individual controllers is compared with the combined performance of multiple controllers, showing possible negative interactions among them.","PeriodicalId":117177,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Power Engineering Society Summer Meeting,","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124939733","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Method can be applied for all voltage levels in distribution system. The global parameters method estimates the voltage drop in network level using the equivalent line. The equivalent line has been obtained on the basis of the length and the section of network lines. Due to significant discrepancy of network and load parameters in urban and rural consume it is proper to apply the method separately on these two consume. The method has been applied on 16 distribution sectors in Montenegro. Obtained results justify the use of this method for voltage drop estimation, especially considering unreliable and incomplete database.","PeriodicalId":117177,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Power Engineering Society Summer Meeting,","volume":"128 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123826667","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In response to such societal needs, automobile manufacturers have developed vehicles which either replace the internal combustion engine with an electric motor or which provide a hybrid configuration with a combination of an IC engine and an electric motor. In some concepts, fuel cells replace the IC engine in a hybrid vehicle configuration. Several of these technologies have been brought to market by auto manufacturers, with initial product offerings. In other cases, advanced concept cars are being developed to further these technologies. In response to these same concerns, research and development projects are underway to make the ICE vehicles more efficient. These projects have involved both improvements in engine/drive train efficiency as well as more efficient heating-cooling systems. This paper provides an overview of the transportation sector usage patterns, energy consumption, and emissions, and discusses the societal issues which impact decisions on transportation issues. The article then provides an overview of the electrotechnological advances which are being developed to address transportation energy use and emissions issues, and discusses the potential for emissions reduction through the successful deployment of these and competing technologies. The article concludes that reduction in transportation sector carbon emissions are achievable.","PeriodicalId":117177,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Power Engineering Society Summer Meeting,","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124016400","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
