According to recent psychological studies, compassion at work is a crucial internal factor that protects employees' well-being and is negatively correlated with burnout. The current research is a narrative review. Articles in line with the research goal and written in English were included in the study. Search without a time limit and until September 10, 2023, using the keywords “self-compassion”, “professional burnout”, “healthcare provider”, and “nurses” in international databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science and also Google Scholar search engine were performed. In the initial search, 6,499 studies were obtained, which were reduced to 91 studies by screening based on the title and abstract of the articles in the first step and by screening the articles based on the full text of the articles in the next step, 15 articles met the inclusion criteria. Different medical fields and areas of expertise show variations in the ability to cultivate self-compassion and the effectiveness of its techniques. Self-compassion levels substantially influence burnout more than social or demographic factors among these individuals. Self-compassion helps manage exhaustion by maintaining balance, showing kindness, observing without being overwhelmed and preventing burnout. Alterations in the workplace can play a role in organizations' efforts to reduce or prevent burnout. Self-compassion and burnout are negatively correlated in healthcare professionals. Improving healthcare professionals' capacity and reducing occupational burnout can be achieved by providing conditions to promote self-compassion. Ultimately, their extended efficiency brings about the health system's goals more perfectly and comprehensively.","PeriodicalId":117016,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Nursing Reports in Clinical Practice","volume":"9 17","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140732749","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our narrative review aims to summarize the efficacy of the Pilates exercise in enhancing the quality-of-life measure among patients with MS. Our review was conducted by searching the following keywords using the Google Scholar search engine and PubMed database: \"Pilates exercise\", \"quality of life\", and \"multiple sclerosis\". Initial screening of literature, using titles and abstracts followed by full-text assessments, identified six clinical studies for this review, encompassing a sample of 187 patients with MS. Five studies concluded that Pilates exercise positively affects the quality of life among MS patients. In contrast, one study concluded that no meaningful effect on quality of life can be found. Almost all reviewed studies supported that Pilates exercise as a clinical approach can improve the quality of life in patients with MS and other parameters related to general health conditions. Therefore, Pilates exercise as a therapeutic method can be introduced.","PeriodicalId":117016,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Nursing Reports in Clinical Practice","volume":"2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140733270","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Being aware of drug addicts’ attitudes toward barriers to permanent withdrawal can significantly affect the prevention of addiction relapse. The current study aimed at determining the factors associated with drug addiction relapse from the viewpoint of the elderly who referred to addiction treatment centers in Guilan province, Iran. The current cross-sectional study was conducted on 170 elderly who referred to addiction treatment centers in East Guilan cities; the subjects were selected by the convenience sampling method. Data collection tool in the current study was a questionnaire including 2 parts of demographic data and factors associated with addiction relapse such as physical, familial, mental, social, and economic factors. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive (frequency and percentage) and inferential statistics including chi-square test. According to the results of the current study, nervous tensions and feeling of not being addicted again were the main mental factors in addiction relapse from the viewpoint of the study subjects. There was a significant relationship between addiction relapse and demographic variables such as occupational status (P=0.001), marital status (P=0.04), and monthly income (P=0.008) in the studied elderly. According to the results of the current study, by the implementation of proper scientific programs and legislation of appropriate laws in mental-physical healthcare issues, addiction relapse can be controlled, addiction can be prevented, and health status can be enhanced in the elderly as a valuable group of the community.","PeriodicalId":117016,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Nursing Reports in Clinical Practice","volume":"50 19","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140733701","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The incidence of this disorder in the world is one person in every 700 to 800 live births, although this number has increased in recent years [2]. Usually, the children with Down's syndrome are at risk of chronic physical diseases and growth, development, behavioral, and emotional problems. Therefore, children with Down's syndrome are considered as a group of children with special needs who need more care than normal children [3]. The presence of chronic diseases such as congenital heart defects, hypothyroidism, and immune disorders can affect many aspects of the life of caregivers of children with Down's syndrome, leading to fatigue, isolation, burden, and stress [4]. The needs of the family of children with Down's syndrome are significantly higher because the family must be more involved in child care due to developmental delays, limitations in daily life activities related to self-care such as dressing, personal hygiene [5].","PeriodicalId":117016,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Nursing Reports in Clinical Practice","volume":"46 14","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140733794","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This cross-sectional study targeted elderly residents of the Guilan province in Iran. Data collection took place between February and May 2015. The demographic information questionnaire utilized in this study was a researcher-developed instrument. The life satisfaction questionnaire employed in this research was adapted from the 13-item life satisfaction index-Z (LSI-Z) questionnaire. A total of 160 elderly participants were involved, encompassing diverse demographic and socioeconomic profiles. Within the cohort, 51.2% self-identified as male, 38.1% possessed undergraduate degrees, 66.9% were in marital unions, and 68.1% were homeowners. Furthermore, 66.3% resided with their spouses. Approximately half of the participants (49.4%) reported an average economic standing, while 55.0% were categorized as unemployed. A noteworthy proportion (62.5%) acknowledged the presence of chronic medical conditions. Moreover, 71.3% did not partake in daily physical exercise regimens. The average life satisfaction score among the elderly population was 11.81 (SD=6.29). Additionally, findings indicated that 59.4% of the elderly participants reported a diminished level of life satisfaction. The examination uncovered no substantial differentiation in the mean aggregate life satisfaction scores between elderly males and females (P=0.396). Conversely, a notable contrast emerged in the mean life satisfaction scores across occupational classifications (P<0.001) within this investigation. Furthermore, significant variances were evident in the mean aggregate life satisfaction scores among four educational strata—specifically, illiterate, primary, secondary, and tertiary educational levels (P<0.001). Additionally, a significant association was observed between marital status and life satisfaction scores in the elderly (P=0.001). In conclusion, these findings underscore the significance of addressing multifaceted determinants influencing life satisfaction in older adults, emphasizing the need for tailored interventions targeting specific demographic groups to ameliorate disparities and enhance overall well-being in later life stages.","PeriodicalId":117016,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Nursing Reports in Clinical Practice","volume":"80 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140747244","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A meticulous and methodical inquiry was conducted across various international electronic databases, including Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Science, alongside Persian electronic databases such as Iranmedex and the Scientific Information Database. Employing keywords derived from Medical Subject Headings such as \"knowledge\", \"diabetes\", and \"nutrition\", the search encompassed literature up to February 1, 2024. The quality assessment of the studies incorporated in this systematic review was conducted utilizing the Appraisal Tool for Cross-Sectional Studies (AXIS tool). A total of 8,779 diabetic patients across fourteen cross-sectional studies were included in the analysis. The evaluation of nutritional knowledge among diabetic patients yielded a mean score of 53.90 out of 100. Numerous factors, including age, level of education, occupation, attitude, and family history of diabetes, demonstrated significant correlations with the nutritional knowledge of diabetic patients. Thus, policymakers and health administrators must prioritize interventions targeting these factors to enhance nutritional literacy among diabetic populations. Collaboration and support from healthcare professionals, particularly nurses, are instrumental in achieving this objective.","PeriodicalId":117016,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Nursing Reports in Clinical Practice","volume":"176 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140746802","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Long-term anxiety that is not treated can lead to chronic problems like headaches, insomnia, depression, muscle tension, suicidal thoughts, and chronic pain. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between anxiety levels and anxiety-inducing factors in patients hospitalized in psychiatric wards. Using SPSS software version 26, an independent t-test and Pearson's correlation coefficient were used to analyze the data. The traditional \"Kessler's anxiety\" questionnaire and the \"researcher-made\" questionnaire, as well as the random sampling methodology, are the foundations of this study. A significant association exists between patients’ anxiety and the lack of personal freedoms following hospitalization and the marital status of the nurses (P<0.05). The findings of this study indicate that some of the elements under investigation contribute to patients' anxiety while others have no bearing on it. To fully understand the causes of anxiety in patients being treated in psychiatric hospitals, more research is required.","PeriodicalId":117016,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Nursing Reports in Clinical Practice","volume":"2 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140746248","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
