Moreover, due to physical and mental limitations, their personal autonomy is often jeopardized in various circumstances [1]. Older adults may independently take medications due to existing physical and mental health conditions. Self-medication is a significant aspect of self-care practices and a key topic in healthcare discussions [2]. Self-medication is a behavior in which a person tries to fix his illness or health problem without the help and opinion of professionals. Self-medication can be done by consuming an industrial or handmade drug, obtaining drugs without a specialist's prescription, using prescribed drugs in similar cases, dividing prescribed drugs for a person among family members and acquaintances, using additional and remaining drugs at home, refraining from taking the original prescribed medicine, whether it is done by taking extra medicine without a doctor's prescription or not taking the medicine completely [3].","PeriodicalId":117016,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Nursing Reports in Clinical Practice","volume":"43 24","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140701723","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to reports, every year 1.5 million people are diagnosed with breast cancer and 502,000 people die from this disease [2]. In case of survival, the complications of the disease and related treatments may greatly reduce the quality of life of affected people [3]. The diagnosis of breast cancer and its treatment is considered one of the basic crises in the lives of affected people and causes countless problems for affected women and their families [4]. Breast cancer, like any type of chronic and debilitating disease, endangers various aspects of health, both on the individual and social levels, and, like other chronic diseases, reduces individual performance and consequently quality of life [5]. The application of treatment measures such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy and the receipt of toxic drugs can have side effects and the patient experiences double problems, which can affect their quality of life [6]. Among the problems that usually affect the quality of life of cancer patients include physical problems such as pain and fatigue, psychological and mental effects caused by the disease such as depression, as well as the effects of the disease on family, marital, social relationships, and economic problems caused by it is from illness [5]. Meanwhile, psychological adjustment as an influencing factor has a significant role in quality of life and more effective performance among cancer survivors [7].","PeriodicalId":117016,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Nursing Reports in Clinical Practice","volume":"51 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140699085","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context, nurses have a crucial responsibility in caring for clients with mood disorders. In the current study, the authors aim to provide a comprehensive perspective on nursing role during post-burn mood disorders among burn patients by reviewing previous evidence literature. A comprehensive literature search was conducted on PubMed and Scopus databases using the following key terms \"burns\", \"severe burns\", \"mood disorders\", and \"nursing\". The search desire focused on papers related to burns, mood disorders, and nursing. 20 studies were selected for this review. Nurses play a crucial role in managing post-burn psychological conditions like depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and anxiety. Their responsibilities include early detection, holistic assessment, and intervention in addressing patients' emotional well-being. Educating patients and families, providing emotional support, and creating a therapeutic environment are critical aspects of nursing care. Nurses work to demystify psychological conditions, encourage mental health engagement, and implement personalized care plans. By reducing stress, promoting emotional well-being, and facilitating access to mental health services, nurses contribute significantly to burn survivors' recovery and quality of life. Nursing’s integral role in managing post-burn psychological conditions like depression, PTSD, and anxiety is crucial. Nurses provide compassionate, holistic care that meets the diverse needs of burn survivors, guiding them toward recovery.","PeriodicalId":117016,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Nursing Reports in Clinical Practice","volume":"57 17","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140701461","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Approximately 300,000 cases of cancer are diagnosed among children aged 0 to 19 every year [1]. The incidence of childhood cancer is increasing all over the world. A cancer diagnosis can cause serious psychological problems because cancer and admission to the hospital increase the feeling of pain, anxiety, and fear of death [2]. Children diagnosed with cancer often experience severe and persistent anxiety, which can have long-term effects on their well-being. The stress of being hospitalized, coupled with the limited understanding of their illness by medical professionals, the lack of effective coping strategies, and the pain resulting from invasive procedures and treatment regimens, all contribute to the anxiety experienced by these young patients [3]. Intense anxiety has the potential to impede the progression of treatment, heighten susceptibility to infections, and protract the recovery period, ultimately impacting the efficacy of cancer therapy and diminishing patient contentment [4]. Among the psychological interventions that can affect and reduce the psychological symptoms of physical diseases, we can mention play therapy.","PeriodicalId":117016,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Nursing Reports in Clinical Practice","volume":"40 12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140698994","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

International electronic databases, including Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Science, were systematically searched from their inception to August 21, 2023, using keywords derived from Medical Subject Headings such as \"Diabetes mellitus\", \"Telenursing\", and \"Glycosylated Hemoglobin\". In addition, Iranian databases like Iranmedex were also consulted. The quality of randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental studies was evaluated using the critical assessment checklist from the Joanna Briggs Institute. A total of nine studies involving 387 diabetic patients were participants across five studies. Among these patients, 65.48% were female, and 63.44% were allocated to the intervention group. The mean age of the study participants was 57.64 (SD=6.74). The mean duration of the studies and their respective follow-up periods were 48 and 12 weeks, respectively. Additionally, the average length of the intervention in all five studies, was approximately 17.5 minutes. Importantly, across all these studies, it was consistently observed that telenursing effectively reduced glycosylated hemoglobin levels. The findings demonstrated that telenursing, when utilized by nurses, was effective in controlling glycosylated hemoglobin levels and reducing them. We recommend that healthcare managers and policymakers establish a platform that not only incorporates telenursing via phone calls but also explores other methods such as video calls. This approach should consider cost-effectiveness to ensure accessibility for all individuals. Consequently, alongside traditional telephone calls, various telenursing methods can be employed to lower glycosylated hemoglobin levels.","PeriodicalId":117016,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Nursing Reports in Clinical Practice","volume":"14 28","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140732866","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The ICU environment poses unique challenges for the provision of palliative care. Often, the focus in the ICU is on saving lives and providing acute medical interventions. However, it is equally crucial to recognize the importance of palliative care interventions for patients who may not respond to curative treatment or who face terminal illness [2, 3]. Palliative care should be an integral part of the comprehensive care provided in the ICU, ensuring that patients and their families receive the necessary support, comfort, and dignity throughout their journey [4, 5]. To enhance palliative care for ICU patients and their families, some strategies could be considered. Firstly, early identification and assessment are paramount. Implementing systems to identify patients who may benefit from palliative care as early as possible in their ICU stay is crucial. This includes developing standardized screening tools and training healthcare providers to recognize signs of distress, uncontrolled symptoms, or deteriorating prognosis. By identifying these patients early, we can initiate palliative care interventions promptly, ensuring that their needs are addressed throughout their ICU stay [6, 7].","PeriodicalId":117016,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Nursing Reports in Clinical Practice","volume":"54 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140733515","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The search spanned from the earliest available records to August 1, 2023. To assess the quality of the studies included in this systematic review, we employed the Appraisal tool for Cross-Sectional Studies. In total, 2,408 nursing students were in twelve cross-sectional studies. The average knowledge of nursing students in 10 studies regarding organ donation was 40.48 out of 100, which shows their low level of knowledge. The knowledge of nursing students regarding organ donation had a significant positive relationship with the attitude (n=3). Also, nursing students' knowledge had a significant negative relationship with unfavorable attitudes (n=1). Furthermore, the results showed that there is a significant relationship between the knowledge of nursing students and gender, and there is also a relationship between the knowledge of nursing students and their age (n=1). Therefore, policymakers and health managers can improve the knowledge of organ donation in nursing students by paying more attention to the factors related to organ donation knowledge such as age, gender, and attitude.","PeriodicalId":117016,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Nursing Reports in Clinical Practice","volume":"21 21","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140732530","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed to assess early graft in patients with burn wounds admitted to a referral burn center in northern Iran. This retrospective research was conducted on 582 patients with burn wounds with an early graft between May 2019 to 2021 at a referral burn center in northern Iran. Data gathering was conducted from May 2019 to 2021. A total of 582 patients with burn wounds with early graft were enrolled in this research. Of the patients, 91.41% were treated with one graft and 60.14% were treated with grafts less than 10% in size. The average graft/burn ratio in patients with burn wounds was 0.75 (SD=0.52). Also, 55.15% of patients with burn wounds had Graft/burn ratio less than 0.75 (P=0.03). The mean length of stay in hospital in patients with burn wounds was 7.20 (SD=6.10). 61.34% of patients with burn wounds had stayed less than seven days in the hospital after early grafting. 4.12% of patients with burn wounds died due to early grafts (P<0.001). Although in the past decades, progress had been made in skin grafts for burns in Iran, however, prevention of complications and negative outcomes of burns and timely treatment of patients is still weak in Iran.
