First of all the actual items related to middle and high temperature recuperators are discussed with proper up-to — date approaches. \u0000The classification of flue gases heat recovery appliances has been proposed along with the statement and analysis of the main characteristics of the recovery plants and option the ways of optimization the mentioned characteristics. \u0000The problem of Reynolds analogy (similarity of relative change the heat transfer phenomenon and variation the hydraulic resistance) within the channels of different purpose and of various cross-section supplied with and without the obstacles has been analyzed in application to separate cases of flow along the surfaces equipped with the cavities (dimples) or the convex elements. \u0000Thermal Performance Factor (TPF) of the heat exchange process is qualitatively like to Reynolds analogy factor and is highly depended upon rate of heat transfer and of friction factor in conditions of the scheme under consideration for flow over the surface or flow within the channel. The various media has been compared used as a working body in the heat exchanger’s channels: gaseous, liquid and the nanofluids, the last appeared in practice since 2000. \u0000Analysis has been carried out on effect of using the secondary energy emitters (SEE) arranged inside the tube channels, on resulting heat flux by heat exchange between outward flow of combustion products and the inner air flow. Hydrothermal carbonization is currently the most advanced biomass processing technology. It completely prevents pollution and has a number of significant advantages over other methods of biomass treatment. These advantages make it possible to consider hydrothermal carbonization to be the best available technology for the production of biochar, liquid biofuel and other products from non-food biomass. Kolomiets","doi":"10.33070/ETARS.1.2019.05","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.33070/ETARS.1.2019.05","url":null,"abstract":"The paper discusses the technologies of reducing the concentration of nitrogen oxides in the exhaust flue gases during the combustion of coal in the boiler units of power plants that produce heat and electrical energy. According to the results of the analysis, the influence of the method of oxidizing gaseous nitrogen oxides on the efficiency of the treatment plant was revealed. It has been established that during the reconstruction of the gas cleaning system, the advantage is in the technology in which, at the first stage, a gaseous oxidizer is added to the gas flow to convert nitric oxide into heavier water-soluble compounds. At the second stage, an aqueous solution of alkali metal compounds or ammonia is injected into the gas mixture for chemical bonding of the products of oxidation reactions. Thus, this technology allows reducing the concentration of nitrogen oxides in flue gases by 90–95% and meeting the requirements of regulatory documents on emissions of pollutants into the environment. Selection of the best available technology for biocoal production should be based on an integrated assessment including economic, environmental and social aspects. It is noted that direct combustion of agricultural waste does not meet environmental safety standards and also requires significant costs for modernization of existing boiler equipment. It is proposed to produce biocoal from agricultural waste using modern methods of thermochemical treatment — torrefaction and carbonization. End-products of biomass torrefaction — biocoal pellets or briquettes — have high calorific value, low sulfur and heavy metal contents, and low nitrogen oxide emissions. Hydrothermal carbonization is currently the most advanced biomass processing technology. It completely prevents pollution and has a number of significant advantages over other methods of biomass treatment. These advantages make it possible to consider hydrothermal carbonization to be the best available technology for the production of biochar, liquid biofuel and other products from non-food biomass. The analysis of designs of electrocalciners is made, their advantages and disadvantages are given, and also the physical processes happening in them are described. The critical analysis of theoretical and experimental methods of research of physical processes at heat treatment of carboniferous materials in electric furnaces is carried out. It is shown that for development of resource-power effective technical solutions on modernization of the production technology of fillers in electrocalciner it is expedient to combine methods of mathematical modeling with separate pilot studies on the industrial equipment. It is shown that industrial using of resource-power effective technical solutions on modernization of the production technology of fillers in electrocalciner allows to receive the following indicators of efficiency: for anthracite calcinating electrocalciners the resource of work increased from 1 month to 6 months, and specific expenses of the electric power decreased by (50–100) kW·h/t; for graphitizing of oil coke electrocalciners the resource of work increased from 2 days till 1 year, and specific expenses of the electric power decreased more than by 1600 kW·h/t in comparison with classical technology. The character of the change of the basic qualitative parameters of the obtained sorbent – droopiness, surface area, mass is presented depending on the time of residence of the initial limestones with a diameter of 80–200 nm with initial porosity e0 = 0,03–0,1 and pore diameter dpor = 3,84–17 nm in the high-reaction zone when the temperature of the gas phase of the fluidized bed is changed within 900–1200 °С. The obtained results allow further in the design stage to determine the optimum hardware and process design of the process of calcination, depending on the initial parameters of the limestone, which will provide the desired quality of the limestone sorbent in accordance with the given power installation. The possibilities of these processes implementation through the use of electrothermal fluidized bed (ETFB) techniques are considered. Such processes include, for example, the production of hydrogen by the pyrolysis of hydrocarbon gases, the production of silicon carbide and other carbides, the production of artificial graphite and the thermal purification of natural graphite, the high-temperature heating of gases and gas mixtures. These processes can be carried out in the temperature range of 600–3000 °С using fine-dispersed materials or directly in the gas phase using ETFB. In a number of processes ETFB technology can be applied as a source of high temperature gas production, used either for the implementation of this technological process, or for ensuring the operation of technological or heat engineering equipment. Also considered the main structural characteristics of the equipment that ensure the implementation of processes in the ETPS.
