The investigated communication system uses the pulse-amplitude modulation scheme (4-PAM) at the bit rate of 10 Gbps, the fiber length of 100 km, and the operation wavelength of 1550 nm. Our simulation results demonstrate both chaotic and non-chaotic transmission channels can well operate with the bit rate up to 20 Gbps with the BER smaller than 10-5 if dispersion and fiber loss issues are appropriately compensated without needing forwarderror-correction, showing high potential in physically secured optical fiber communication systems.","PeriodicalId":114451,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Science and Technology: Issue on Information and Communications Technology","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122581009","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we discuss the temperature-dependent characteristic of InGaP/GaAs HPTs before and after electrical stress and assess the effectiveness of the emitter-ledge passivation, which was found to effectively keep the InGaP/GaAs HBTs from degrading at higher temperature or after an electrical stress. The emitter-ledge passivation is also effective keeping a higher optical gain even at higher temperature. An electrical stress was given to the HPTs by keeping the collector current at 60 mA for 15 min. Since the collector current density as an electrical stress is 24 A/cm2 and much smaller than the stress usually given to smaller HBTs for the stress test, the decreased optical gain was not observed when it was given at room temperature. However, when it was given at 420 K, significant decreases of the current gain and optical gain were observed at any temperature. Nevertheless, the emitter-ledge passivation was found effective in minimizing the decreases of the current gain and optical gain.","PeriodicalId":114451,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Science and Technology: Issue on Information and Communications Technology","volume":"106 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116284996","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nonetheless, people with experience sleep apnea often undiagnosed and completed treatment because the method performs in hospitals and medical centers with special medical equipment supervised by the medical team all night long. In this paper, we proposed to build a data collection system on sleep apnea, using our proposed device with the criterion of compact size, low cost, and easy implementation at home. This device measures the common carotid artery (CCA) and internal jugular vein (IJV) movements in the patient's neck with an accelerometer that is fixed by an electrode patch. The developed architecture implements multiple WBSSs for each incoming fiber and small size wavelength selective switches (WSSs) for dropping optical paths while simply deploying 1´2 WSSs or 1´2 optical couplers for realizing the adding function. Thanks to the use of WBSSs, which are more cost-effective and simpler devices, the developed architecture enables a significant hardware scale reduction. The WBSS-based OXC, however, suffers from a limited routing capability, which relies on the inner node parameter (i.e., the WBSS number per input fiber) and the waveband granularity of WBSSs. We, therefore, evaluate the hardware scale requirement of our developed architecture in comparison with that of conventional WSS-based OXC. It is verified that a substantial hardware scale reduction can be achieved by using the proposed architecture, especially for high port count OXCs or when applying coarser granular WBSSs. Moreover, we also assess the performance of dynamic optical networks based on the proposed OXC. Numerical simulations show that the network offers a substantial necessary hardware scale reduction at the cost of a small performance offset comparing to that of the network using conventional WSS-based OXC.","PeriodicalId":114451,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Science and Technology: Issue on Information and Communications Technology","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114638078","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, array design techniques do not take into account the mutual coupling effect among elements. In this article, the effect of mutual coupling on the array radiation pattern is investigated and discussed through studying the input impedance of the elements. Next, a technique for reducingmutual coupling based on radiation patterns of elements is presented. In this technique, the log-periodic dipole antenna with a frequency ranging from 900 MHz to 2500 MHz is selected as an array element. The results based on the FEKO magnetic field calculation program have shown that at 900 MHz, the proposed antenna array reaches a side-lobed level of -17.4 dB. At frequencies of 1500 MHz, 2000 MHz, 2500 MHz, the grating lobe levels of this antenna array are lower than 6.7 dB, 9.5 dBand 8.3 dB compared to those of the equally - spaced antenna array.","PeriodicalId":114451,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Science and Technology: Issue on Information and Communications Technology","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116259708","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
