On treatment of animals with atropine sulphate, adult animals were recovered; two of their calves were recovered within 1 hour, while last one dead. The content of used pesticide active ingredient “chlorpyrifos” and its relevant impurity sulfotep in commercial pesticide formulations (480 g a. i. /L) were estimated by gas chromatography-flame ionization detector (GC-FID) against external standard of high purity. Gas chromatog-raphymass spectrometry method was used for the qualitative and quantitative anal-yses of chlorpyrifos in the formulated sample and in animal serum, diarrhoeic material as well as milk of exposed animals. The results of analysis showed that the content of chlorpyrifos in the sample is 214.15 g/L which is not comply with the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) specifications for the active substance (chlorpyrifos). The content of the relevant impurity sulfotep was estimated as 0.269 % of chlorpyrifos content which comply and close to the corresponding maximum permitted level 3 g/kg of the chlorpyrifos content found. GC-MSMS MRM for chlorpyrifos was 350 m/w for Precursor Ion and Fragment ions were 97, 199 m/z. The recovery percent of chlorpyrifos ranged between 71.8 and 94.65% with relative standard deviation (RSD) below 1.45%. Average calculated residues of chlorpyrifos were 2.6 ppm in milk, 80.8 ppb in diarrheic materials and 37.4 ppm in grass (alfalfa fodder). This disturbance create suitable media for some pathogenic bacteria invasion, Nine bacterial isolates (4 E. coli, 2 Staph. aureus, 2 Coliform and 1 Klebsiella ) from milk, saliva, nasal and faecal samples of 3 buffaloes and 3 buffalo's calves suffering from severe diarrhoea. In conclusion: This study proved that exposure to chlorpyrifos induced disturbance in the intestinal microflora with stim-ulated pathogenic bacteria causing enteritis. While true used chlorpyrifos pesticiede did not agree with bottle contents. So, more control over pesticides application is required in villages and Ezabs at rural areas.","PeriodicalId":11415,"journal":{"name":"Egyptian Journal of Animal Health","volume":"104 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80465596","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of colistin (C) and liposomal colistin (L) was 1.56 µg/ml and 0.00156 µg/ml for O125 sensitive colistin strain (CS and LS), while 100µg/ml and 0.025 µg/ml for O125 resistant strain (CR and LR). In vitro, time kill kinetics of liposomal colistin against sensitive and resistant O125 recorded 100% and 82.8% as a reduction% at 1 MIC, while ≥99.9% at 2 MIC for both strains after 1hr incubation time. The pharmacokinetic/ pharmacodynamics profiles were studied by single oral dose of colistin and liposomal colistin at 100000 IU/kg b.wt in healthy and diseased chicken. The pharmacokinetic parameters; Cmax/MIC ratio for CS and CR were 3.5 and 0.06. While, liposomal colistin recorded 3.9x10 3 and 247.2 for LS and LR, respectively. AUC/MIC ratios were 13.4, 0.248, 40.9x10 3 and 2.6x10 3 for CS, CR, LS and LR, respectively; proving the high efficacy of liposomal colistin with less significant activity of colistin. There was significant increment of t 1/2 Beta and MRT of liposomal colistin groups in comparison with colistin groups. Contraries, clearance Time (CL/F) was significantly decreased in liposomal colistin than colistin groups. Liposomal colistin en-hanced the bioavailability% from 5.2% to 49.2%. Liver E. coli count re-vealed highly significant decrease of LC for both strains nearly similar to negative control group after repeated treatment for 5 consecutive days; indicating the great effect by liposomal colistin on both E. coli strains especially for colistin resistant strain. This study recommends the liposomal colistin formulation against multidrug resistant E. coli infections.","PeriodicalId":11415,"journal":{"name":"Egyptian Journal of Animal Health","volume":"42 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75088225","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present work aimed to determine the reactive oxygen metabolites (ROM), total antioxidant capacity (TAC), lipid peroxides (indicated by malondialdehyde, MDA) and measuring the oxidative stress index (OSI), in addition to investigation of some hematological and trace elements in sheep with dermatophytosis. T. verrucosum was diagnosed clinically and mycologically in 12 young sheep with mild infection (1-2 lesions, each with an approximate diameter of 2-4 cm) and 9 with severe lesions (covering more than a quarter of the head and ear), as well as 12 age- and gender-matched healthy control individuals. In comparison to controls, red blood cell count, packed cell volume and hemoglobin did not differ (P > 0.05) in the infected group, whereas leukocytic count increased (P < 0.05) in the severely infected group accompanied by neutrophilia, monocytosis and eosinophilia. Plasma Zn decreased (P < 0.05) in the severely infected group but Cu did not differ (P > 0.05) between groups. There was a progressive increase in the ROM in mild (P < 0.05) and severely infected group (P < 0.01) than the controls. The SOD activity and TAC were higher (P < 0.05) in the mild infected group, and lower in the severely infected group (P < 0.05). MDA and OSI did not change (P > 0.05) in the mild, but increased (P < 0.01) in the severely infected group. As a conclusion, sheep with severe infections by T. verrucosum exhibits disturbance in the leukogram, and Zn deficiency, associated with enhanced prooxidants and impaired antioxidant potential, suggesting an oxidative stress status.","PeriodicalId":11415,"journal":{"name":"Egyptian Journal of Animal Health","volume":"45 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78844101","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
