This study aimed to assess the validity and reliability of the Immune Status Questionnaire (ISQ), a recently developed immune status measure, among Indonesian adults, during COVID-19 Pandemic. Online Indonesian translated version of the ISQ and the Short Form 12 (SF-12) for measuring health-related quality of life were completed by 296 Indonesian adults (58% female, mean age=45±19 years old). Out of those, 102 (34%) completed a second survey one week later for the test-retest reliability assessment. The internal consistency reliability was assessed in both surveys. Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted to assess the construct validity. Correlations among ISQ items and between ISQ with SF-12 component summary were computed to assess the instruments’ convergent and divergent validities. Acceptable internal consistency reliabilities for the ISQ were found in the first and second surveys ( a=0.87 and 0.82, respectively). Each ISQ item demonstrated excellent test-retest reliability, with intraclass correlations ranging from 0.70 to 0.88. A good fit of the data was found with a root mean square error of approximation of 0.069, after a model modification. Correlations among ISQ components and between ISQ with SF-12 components provided sufficient evidence for convergent validity of the scale while divergent validity was partially supported. The validity and reliability of the Indonesian translated version of the ISQ for use in Indonesian adults are sufficiently demonstrated. The algorithm for computing ISQ in Indonesian adults, however, warrants further investigation.","PeriodicalId":11407,"journal":{"name":"Eastern Journal of Medicine","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71085282","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, it was aimed to retrospectively evaluate the patients hospitalized with the diagnosis of hyperbilirubinemia and to determine the risk factors, thus, to early diagnose and guide treatment of severe hyperbilirubinemia. In this study, 250 infants who were followed up and treated for hyperbilirubinemia in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. When all cases were evaluated etiologically, the highest reason was found to be AB0 incompatibility. In 30% of the cases, the direct Coombs test was positive and the most common reason in the cases with positive direct Coombs test was the association of Rh and subgroup incompatibility with a rate of 29.3%. When the treatments applied to the cases were evaluated, phototherapy was given to all patients. It was found that of the patients, 84% received only phototherapy treatment, 6.4% underwent exchange transfusion with phototherapy, 5.2% received IVIG treatment, 4.4% received exchange transfusion and IVIG treatment. If neonatal hyperbilirubinemia is not diagnosed and treated early, the morbidity and mortality of the brain damage that can occur is high. Today, while AB0 and Rh incompatibilities, which are an important etiologically important problem, are closely monitored, other etiological conditions such as infections, G6PD deficiency, subgroup incompatibility, hypothyroidism should also be kept in mind and early diagnosis and treatment should be performed.","PeriodicalId":11407,"journal":{"name":"Eastern Journal of Medicine","volume":"127 1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71083793","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, the aim was to investigate whether there is a relationship between ABO and Rh blood group systems and COVID-19 disease, severity and frequency. The blood groups of 16913 patients treated with the diagnosis of COVID-19 between March 10, 2020 and March 31, 2021 and 23141 control cases were compared retrospectively. The blood group distributions of th e patients treated in the intensive care unit were examined. Among the COVID-19 positive patients, the percentage of patients with blood group A (45.04%) was statistically significantly higher than the percentage of patients with blood group O (26.69%), b lood group B (17.16%) and blood group AB (8.09%). The percentage of COVID-19 positive patients who were Rh positive (88.06%) was statistically significantly higher than the percentage who were Rh negative (11.93%). Among the COVID-19 patients, 7354 (43.48%) of 16913 patients were hospitalized and treated in the intensive care unit. The distribution of patients treated in the intensive care unit by blood group was blood group A 46.0%, blood group O 28.95%, blood group B 17.36%, and blood group AB 7.65%. In the intensive care unit, 6445 were Rh (+) (87.63%) and 909 were Rh (-) (12.36%). It was determined that the risk of COVID-19 disease is associated with ABO and Rh blood groups. We think that blood groups have an important role in the follow-up and treatment of COVID-19 disease. Copyright © 2022, Yuzuncu Yil Universitesi Tip Fakultesi.
