The examined process parameters were the cutting speed, torch standoff distance and arc voltage. Cut surface quality was identified by measuring the surface roughness and dimensional accuracy of the machined specimens. The obtained experimental data were used to train a feed forward back propagation NN in order to predict the quality indicators of the plasma cutting process. Training and architecture parameters of artificial neural network were optimized by the implementation of Taguchi method. Nine different NN were developed and tested according to the L9 (3^3) orthogonal array. Finally, by utilizing the analysis of means and the analysis of variances, the optimum levels of NN parameters were determined, and as a consequence, improved prediction ability was achieved.","PeriodicalId":113351,"journal":{"name":"2017 Fourth International Conference on Mathematics and Computers in Sciences and in Industry (MCSI)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115203478","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They act as a basic supplement to the core curriculum due to their motivating and engaging nature and their simulation aspect which enables reinforcement of key concepts in a risk-free environment. The P4G Business Game has been developed in the context of the European project PLAY4GUIDANCE. It is a simulation game between teams, where each team has the task of managing from a strategic point of view their own manufacturing business competing with the other in a market. The rationale of the game lies on the users’ training and guidance in the use of entrepreneurial, transversal and mathematical skills. The P4G business game is an online learning environment which acts as a replication and extension of the physical market world. The innovative character of the P4G Business Game lies in its embedded evaluation and scaffolding mechanism that provide significant guidance for the trainees. It focuses on both qualitative and quantitative data analysis providing users with immediate feedback and constant tracking of their performance. The sophisticated interactive technology underpinning the game accommodates social and technical dimensions -player exposure to varying levels of social interaction and cognition, removal of time and space constraints - not always available in the physical world. It allows for user intervention and decision taking processes while it offers a specific and structured space where critical analysis of intertwined and complex information is necessary. The evaluation tool was validated through pilots and national conferences conducted in all participating member countries of the project. The findings from the testing phase have shown a positive level of reliability of the P4G Evaluation tool.","PeriodicalId":113351,"journal":{"name":"2017 Fourth International Conference on Mathematics and Computers in Sciences and in Industry (MCSI)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124837931","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

SymSG Border Tactics is a distributed simulation software dedicated for tactical training including high-resolution law enforcement and opponent modelling as well as their interaction design. Required level of details within the models (single officer) enforced high detail terrain and behavioural models. Large scale of GIS data required for the simulator to perform adequate exercise execution has been a challenge. The novelty of the presented solution is hybrid approach which involves a discrete squarebased Due to required resolution of terrain models (cells 10x10m) for larger scenarios up to 50x20km an efficient terrain representation model had to be designed followed by multicriteria path finding algorithms. The paper presents implementation details, architectural concepts and experimental analysis of proposed solutions deployed in TRL IX simulation environment for Polish Border Guard training. Proposed solution provide multi-resolution and hybrid capabilities for terrain representation and simulation objects movement supplemented by high detail behavioural models, reflecting authorities and opponents actions as well as interactions.","PeriodicalId":113351,"journal":{"name":"2017 Fourth International Conference on Mathematics and Computers in Sciences and in Industry (MCSI)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123607411","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In view of model accuracy, this process should include all relevant details that affect the transient behavior of the power system and hence influence the electrical and mechanical torques in the system. To this aim, this paper describes the extension of the generator subsystem model details in OpenModelica by adding a turbine-governor model to the existing generator subsystem. Taking advantage of the multi-domain modeling property of OpenModelica, two libraries are coupled to interconnect the mechanical and electrical domains of the generator subsystem. The new generator subsystem is beneficially tested using the standard IEEE 9-Bus test feeder by comparing its response to network disturbances to that of the previously existing OpenModelica generator model. The simulation results in OpenModelica are furthermore successfully compared to respective results in DIgSILENT PowerFactory. Hence, the new generator subsystem model is integrated into the validated 20 kV power grid model of Campus North of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and respective results are presented for abrupt load changes.","PeriodicalId":113351,"journal":{"name":"2017 Fourth International Conference on Mathematics and Computers in Sciences and in Industry (MCSI)","volume":"120 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116581720","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Stochastic Picard-Runge-Kutta Solvers for Large Systems of Autonomous Ordinary Differential Equations 大型自治常微分方程系统的随机Picard-Runge-Kutta解

{"title":"Stochastic Picard-Runge-Kutta Solvers for Large Systems of Autonomous Ordinary Differential Equations","authors":"Flavius Guias","doi":"10.1109/MCSI.2017.55","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/MCSI.2017.55","url":null,"abstract":"We present an explicit stochastic scheme for approximating solutions of autonomous systems ordinary differential equations based on the direct simulation of paths of appropriate Markov jump processes. Its features make it efficient especially for large systems with a sparse incidence matrix, i.e. typically for spatially discretized partial differential equations. The full path of the Markov jump process is simulated by a very simple method and serves as a predictor for improved approximations. One possibility to obtain more precise values is to employ a Picard–iteration over small time intervals with length h. This amounts to the computation of the integral of a step–function, which can be done explicitly. Alternatively, or as a further step, one can apply a Runge–Kutta principle. For this one needs approximations of the integrand at some intermediate equidistant points in the time discretization interval. As suitable values can be taken either those given by the above described predictor, or their improvement by Picard iterations. The corresponding integral is then approximated by a quadrature formula from the Newton–Cotes family. For example we can use Simpson quadrature formulae (1/3 rule for the step h/2 and 3/8 rule for the step h/3). These approaches mimic respectively the well–known Runge–Kutta schemes of order 3, and the 3/8 scheme of order 4. The main difference to the classical Runge–Kutta method is that the intermediate values are computed here by performing a stochastic simulation, possibly followed by a Picard iteration. The described approach has as consequence an increased order of convergence. We also introduce time-adaptive versions of the stochastic Runge–Kutta method and illustrate the features of all considered schemes at a standard benchmark problem, a reaction–diffusion equation modeling a combustion process in one space dimension.","PeriodicalId":113351,"journal":{"name":"2017 Fourth International Conference on Mathematics and Computers in Sciences and in Industry (MCSI)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127605344","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) features [1] and their upgraded version – Speeded-Up Robust Features (SURF) [2], are the most successful and popular ones for different object and scene recognition tasks, in terms of non-real and real time requirements, respectively. However, local features are not the only means building up the potential for fast and user-friendly solutions. Methods applied to process extracted features and their descriptors at the next steps are also critical. Three selected approaches of these type, based on to Bag of Features [3], Scalable Vocabulary Tree [4] and Pyramid Match [5] methods, respectively, are examined in the paper. Their effectiveness with regard to real-time make and model recognition of cars as well as visual building and places identification is reported and discussed as a final result of performed examination.","PeriodicalId":113351,"journal":{"name":"2017 Fourth International Conference on Mathematics and Computers in Sciences and in Industry (MCSI)","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115054610","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During a gas leak, leaking flammable gas is mixed with the ambient air and hazardous explosive mixture is formed. Formation of local critical concentrations of methane-air mixture in a closed dissected space depends on duration of a gas leak. Velocity of propagation of leaked gas, local explosive concentrations of gas-air mixture and also duration of formations of these local concentrations could be determined using successful verification of CFD simulation with experiments. The detailed numerical analysis enables to determine volume concentration methane-air mixture in any point of the investigated area. This work could contribute to more accurate analysis of gas leaks in residential and technological objects with occurrence of flammable, toxic or other dangerous gases.","PeriodicalId":113351,"journal":{"name":"2017 Fourth International Conference on Mathematics and Computers in Sciences and in Industry (MCSI)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131925351","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Presented method has been developed on the basis of formal model of software testing process that has been constructed in the paper for some assumed testing scheme. Using the discrete-time software reliability-growth model with the purpose of estimating the mean value of the number of predicted errors encountered during the program testing process is proposed. On the basis of this estimation both the duration and the cost of the program testing process can be rationally determined.
