In a routine dissection of a 72year old male cadaver at the Faculty of Medicine, University Sri Lanka a variation of five branches originating directly from the abdominal aorta at the level of the origin of coeliac trunk was observed; left gastric artery, splenic artery, main hepatic artery, first direct hepatic branch and second direct hepatic branch. This deviation from three main classic branches of coeliac trunk to five direct branches is a very rare occurrence. Records of this type of vascular patterns are really important in planning and performing abdominal surgical and radiological procedures as well as radiological interventions.","PeriodicalId":113120,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Complementary and Alternative Medicine","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123114454","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most of the reproductive active period of women is hampered by this condition, thereof reducing their fertility and causing metabolic disturbances. Traditional Chinese Medicine principles have been historically settled to develop Chinese Herbal Medicine formulas designed to treat various ailments including reproductive disorders. This study addresses the mechanisms of action of Jia-Wei-Xiao-Yao-San formula by examining the functional predicted PCOS-related targets networks first enriched by STITCH chemical interactions and then analyzed by STRING protein interactions database. Using the highest confidence interaction score as a screening binding parameter, we obtained a total of 274 PCOS-related targets interacting with 58 bioactive compounds from the formula and 22 PCOS-related drugs interacting with a total of 133 PCOS-related targets. Our analysis identified a total of 84 common PCOS-related targets shared by both the formula and the PCOS-related drugs and demonstrate the predicted PCOS-related protein-protein interaction network resulting in various KEGG pathways. These findings indicated the formula functionality role preponderantly in cholesterol metabolism, ovarian steroidogenesis, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors, and adipocytokine signaling pathway. Numerous compounds identified here are known to have high binding interactions with PCOS-related targets. Our methodological approach demonstrates that both the drugs-PCOS-related targets network support Jia-Wei- Xiao-Yao-San formula as an appropriate Traditional Chinese Medicine to treat at least the symptoms associated with PCOS manifestations.","PeriodicalId":113120,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Complementary and Alternative Medicine","volume":"47 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130499526","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

TN may have a significant impact upon quality of life due to the associated depres sion and anxiety. TN’s pain is generally managed with medical therapy alone, carbamazepine being the first-line medica tion. Pfeiffer syndrome is a rare inherited disorder associated with primary craniosynostosis, midface hypoplasia and other anatomical abnormalities. Acupuncture is a valid therapeutic option for painful conditions, including neuralgias. Hereby, we describe remission from trigeminal neuralgia- related pain in a 37years old man with Pfeiffer Syndrome, after acupuncture.","PeriodicalId":113120,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Complementary and Alternative Medicine","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131159590","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the pronounced features of this malady was its propensity of transmission in the healthcare premises, among close family and social contact. The stability of the virus at different temperature and the influence of meteorological factors on the transmission posed to be key factors for the spread of COVID-19 since the beginning. This study aimed to find the impact of temperature on the extremity of the COVID-19 outbreak on a worldwide scale and to explore the association between COVID-19 death and weather parameter. As it was earlier speculated that the transmission of COVID-19 might be dwindling or even disappeared when the temperature and UV radiation increase in the summer. So, since the climate seems to be one of the key variances between the countries with high and low COVID-19 cases, we have cross-checked temperature among the topmost 50 affected countries with COVID-19. Our perusal showed no possible association between low temperature and high temperature with increases number of daily COVID-19 cases throughout the world.","PeriodicalId":113120,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Complementary and Alternative Medicine","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117331054","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It defines three domain of learning cognitive, affective and psychomotor domain, related with head, heart and body respectively. Ayurveda mentioned four qualities of physician in the form of chatushpada (quadruple), as to acquire knowledge, to gain practical knowledge and importance of cleanliness. Proposed review study was carried out to high light the concept of traditional education system designed by Acharya Charaka, Sushruta and Vagbhata to reflect goals of traditional education system. Classical texts (Samhita) of Ayurveda as Charaka, Sushruta, Ashtanga Sangraha and Ashtanga Hridaya were consulted as references to know the qualities of chatushpada. Literature available regarding modern Bloom’s taxonomy was also collected. These references from both streams of knowledge were compared and analyzed critically. Literature search revealed that qualities of bhishak (physician) among chatushpada, includes the three domain of Ayurvedic education system. Paryavadatatva means having excellence in theoretical knowledge, bahushodrustakarmata means having extensive practical experience, dakshya means dexterity and shouch means cleanliness of mana (mind) and sharir (body). If physician endowed with these qualities leads to elimination of disorders. As Bloom’s taxonomy classify the goals of modern education system, the four qualities of physician reflects the goals of traditional system of education in Ayurveda.","PeriodicalId":113120,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Complementary and Alternative Medicine","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132819822","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
