The geometry of Y-junction was simulated and optimized using finite difference beam propagation method (FD- BPM). The optimized Y-junction shape has been determined to be hybrid shape which consists of cosine s-bend branch connected to linear branch. Compare to conventional linear Y-junction, the effective index modulation was reduced to 26.5% to achieve -34 dB of crosstalk value.","PeriodicalId":113046,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Photonics in Switching","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132412734","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Elementary blocks, performing basic operations are the building elements for more complex subsystems implementing all-optical digital processing.
