In this paper, we propose a novel approach, called “Ma-Sync”, which is a mobile-assisted clock synchronization scheme for mobile underwater acoustic sensor networks. It utilizes a mobile beacon node to get the relationship between node position and propagation delay, and makes use of linear regression to compute out the clock skew and offset. The effectiveness of Ma-Sync is validated by extensive simulations.","PeriodicalId":112418,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference Workshops (WCNCW)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125029091","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An asynchronous multicast transmission mechanism based on genetic antenna selection is proposed. The computational complexity of genetic antenna selection algorithm remains moderate while the total number of antennas increases comparing with optimum searching algorithm. Traditional centralized transmission control requires precise information of the whole networks. In this paper, we introduce a new cooperative mechanism where relay nodes take the initiative. In the system model information like channel state, energy cost and power constraints are all user's private information. Thus, the game involved is under asymmetric information. We derive the Perfect Bayesian Equilibrium (PBE) via distributed computing and achieve optimal benefits for the mobile virtual network operators (MVNO) and relay nodes. The proposed approach not only helps the relay nodes with power control but also helps the operators with relay selection.We prove the game to achieve unique equilibrium in different scenarios. Moreover, numerical results and analysis show that both relay nodes and the source node benefit from the proposed game compared with none-cooperative game.","PeriodicalId":112418,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference Workshops (WCNCW)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121675147","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper discusses such a media server based on multi-core network processors. These servers are deployed at the edge of the Internet to provide services independently, catering to the characteristics of digital TV. However, it is crucial to find an appropriate storage solution that provides high IO performance for the media servers in such architecture. In this paper, based on the disk array and storage cluster technology, several storage solutions for the media server are evaluated and discussed. Finally we propose the most appropriate storage solution for the media server at present.","PeriodicalId":112418,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference Workshops (WCNCW)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126377546","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Research outcomes shed considerable light on the promising gain of this strategy from information-theoretic perspective. What misses is to design practical PLNC schemes based on the Compute-and-Forward and to evaluate their end-to-end performance in real communication scenarios. In this work we try to fill the gap between theory and practice: we investigate end-to-end communication over a Multi-Sources Relay Channel where the CF is used at intermediate nodes. We figure out practical constraints that deserve special attention in real end-to-end communication design and propose reliable solutions that enable to meet the promised potential of the CF. In order to confirm our theoretical analysis, we evaluate performance of the proposed schemes at the destination in terms of both average achievable rate and error rates under practical low complexity nested lattice encoding.","PeriodicalId":112418,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference Workshops (WCNCW)","volume":"769 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123006267","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This algorithm tends to place a newly created VM for a cloud service to a cloud server, which itself is also a mobile device, that occurs lowest network delay when accessing to application data stored in wireline networks. The aim is to reduce cloud service response time as much as possible in order to deliver better quality of experience to cloud end users over more noisy and less robust wireless networks. In addition, the proposed deployment of cloud storage and cloud computational resources onto wireless networks is also a contribution of the paper. The simulation results have shown the effectiveness and the efficiency of the proposed VM placement algorithms both in terms of cloud service response time.","PeriodicalId":112418,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference Workshops (WCNCW)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133645492","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Three interactive parameters are introduced and weighted values α and the p-value are used in the price-based interaction model to identify the data priority. The method is transparent to prioritized data packets.
