The requirements to achieve equivalent reliability and latencies impose challenging demands on design and implementation. In this paper, we propose a hardware accelerator for highly adaptive and parallel medium access allowing seamless integration and interoperation with existing fieldbus systems. A reference implementation of this medium access control (MAC) accelerator using parallel sequence spread spectrum (PSSS) as the physical layer technology is presented and analyzed for scalability and timing. The comparison between different kinds of network traffic in a parallel medium access reveals how the demands on acceleration are interrelated with the data timing requirements.","PeriodicalId":112404,"journal":{"name":"2017 XXVI International Conference on Information, Communication and Automation Technologies (ICAT)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122940984","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method is based on utilizing the full control capabilities of the switching converter. The proposed method makes the voltage source inverter (VSI) supply the voltages according to the requirements of the load and/or grid. The method is tested with both the balanced and unbalanced cases of the grid. The grid's average voltage serves as the reference for the average voltage at the converter's output alongside the active and reactive power's set-point requirements. The mathematical formulation of the proposed method is given in detail and simulations are done in MATLAB/Simulink® to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":112404,"journal":{"name":"2017 XXVI International Conference on Information, Communication and Automation Technologies (ICAT)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121993368","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This information is not accurately available, due to uninformed changes that happen from time to time, or uncertain meter readings. Reliable prediction of system status is a highly demanded functionality of smart energy systems, which can enable users or human operators to react quickly to potential future system changes. This paper presents potential of artificial neural networks to determine missing power meter readings in medium voltage (MV) networks where the number of on-line measurements is limited, and state estimation relies heavily on estimates of power injections. The applicability of the approach is demonstrated through simulation using supervisory control and data acquisition and smart meter measurements recorded from an actual MV distribution network. Results are showing that artificial neural networks can have 100% measurements detection accuracy.","PeriodicalId":112404,"journal":{"name":"2017 XXVI International Conference on Information, Communication and Automation Technologies (ICAT)","volume":"148 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116588579","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose the use of supervised learning methods, namely multi-class support vector machines and artificial neural networks to perform classification of different type of almonds. In the process of defining the feature vectors, the proposed method has relied on the principal component analysis to identify the most significant shape and color parameters. The comparative analysis of considered classification algorithms has shown that the higher levels of accuracy in almond classification are attained when support vector machine are used as the basis for classification, rather than artificial neural networks. Moreover, the experimental results have demonstrated that the proposed method exhibits significant levels of robustness and computational efficiency to facilitate the use in the real-time applications. In addition, for the purpose of this paper, a dataset of almond images containing various classes of almonds is formed and made freely available to be used by other researchers in this field.","PeriodicalId":112404,"journal":{"name":"2017 XXVI International Conference on Information, Communication and Automation Technologies (ICAT)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133456282","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Optimal controller is designed in local sense to minimize a given quadratic performance index, leading to well-known Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) problem and the optimal controller is updated at each sampling time to cope with the nonlinear dynamics. Since the SDRE based optimal controller is designed by freezing the nonlinear system at some sampling periods, the effect of sampling period on the performance index is studied. The SDRE based optimal controller is designed for an experimental setup of a 3 DOF Helicopter and implemented on the setup for different working frequencies. The performance index and therefore the values of the cost function is then computed for different working frequencies. Experimental studies reveals that an increased sampling period results in decreased value of the cost function.","PeriodicalId":112404,"journal":{"name":"2017 XXVI International Conference on Information, Communication and Automation Technologies (ICAT)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129464534","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, the thickness measure of the nuchal transucency is strictly correlated with pathologies like trisomy 13, 18 and 21. To evaluate the performance and the robustness of the methodology, real clinical ultrasound images were considered, obtaining an average error of at most 0.3 millimeters in 97.4% of the cases.","PeriodicalId":112404,"journal":{"name":"2017 XXVI International Conference on Information, Communication and Automation Technologies (ICAT)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121328035","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A fuzzy inference engine realization process based on simple matrix operations is described in detail. The drivers' performance is evaluated referring to the vehicle behavior, in particular, the abilities to keep the vehicle in the center of the lane and to observe the speed limit. The evaluation technique was tested on a vehicle mock-up driving simulator. Text messaging on a cell phone is studied as a secondary distractive activity. The most important aspect is the financial status of the company that is implementing the system. How many resources is the company willing to spend is always a difficult dilemma. The second important issue is the actual usefulness of the developed solution. If the system cannot be implemented in the real world, as advanced as it may be in theory, it has very little or no use at all. In this paper, the current state of the picking zone of a medium-to-large logistics company warehouse is analyzed through a real-world case study. On the top of the collected results, a method for the optimal strategic and quantitative item placement in the picking zone is constructed through the usage of fitting algorithms. One month after the method was released to production, a quality check of the system by supervising the warehouse activities of the picking zone is conducted and the results are analyzed.","PeriodicalId":112404,"journal":{"name":"2017 XXVI International Conference on Information, Communication and Automation Technologies (ICAT)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123441724","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
