However, there has not been any ground penetrating radar to recognize the internal configuration of the dam. The aim of this study is to form a composite dam with a point bar stack. Firstly, the highest resolution frequency of GPR is selected, and then the data are taken in the study area. And eliminate the influence of various factors on data volume. On the basis of the previous work, the location, the formation mechanism and the spatial distribution of the composite dam are determined by measuring the location of the point dam overlap and the dip angle, inclination and thickness of the lateral accretion. Keyword: Ground penetrating radar; Field trench; the meandering river point bar; Point dam configuration. Preface: The main contents of this test include the detailed description and interpretation of the field configuration element, the processing and interpretation of GPR data [1] . Test period from January 15, 2015 to April 15, 2015. Diffraction hyperbola actually have the information of discontinuity such as fault, fracture, Karst and edge of salt flanks, which always contain valuable information for geological interpretation and reservoir modeling. These diffractions play an important role to illuminate the small scale events which are crucial for structural traps such as fractured reservoir. Another important part of diffraction is to improve the amplitude recovery at the certain point through diffraction summation. These diffracted waves have been recognized as physically reliable carriers of high and even super-resolution structural information. This research work illustrates the different behavior of diffraction hyperbola comparing with different velocities and depths. Phase change in amplitude in 180 0 from +ive to –ive and the decay in amplitudes directly proportional to the angle of incident. Synthetic data set is used for the analysis of amplitude preservation through diffraction imaging. Outcome of the research demonstrate the consideration of diffraction imaging for discontinuities, complex structure and small scale reservoir imaging, which subsidize a good impact to search the hydrocarbon potential reserves. Another aspect is cover that describes the importance of migration aperture selection for integration of the diffractions on the basis of frequency of the data, as high frequency will produce less diffraction response then low frequency. Last but not least, the diffraction imaging improves the spatial resolution of individual faults and fracture below the resolution of reflections.","PeriodicalId":111900,"journal":{"name":"IOSR Journal of Applied Geology and Geophysics","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133606118","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The rock succession is characterized by the alternation of sand and shale of variable thicknesses with lateral gradation in grain size. The base of the studied interval is made of Black shales intercalating with medium to coarse grained, sub rounded to rounded sandstone and siltstone at intervals representing the paralic Agbada formation while the top is made of Sub angular sub rounded quartz pebble conglomerate, pebbly sandstone, medium coarse grained, subrounded to well-rounded sandstone, intercalating with very thin lenses of grey shales typically of the coastal plain sand of the Benin Formation. The palynological characterization of the well yielded a well preserved and diverse biostratigraphic important Miospores among which sixty-one miospores (fifty-one pollen and ten spores) were identified and used to erect ten miospore zones. The biozonation is premised on the recognition of the first and last downhole occurrences of these Palynological events. The zones are defined from the base to top as follows: Magnastiatites howardi, Inerperturopollenites sp, Caryapollenites veripites, Striatricolpites catatumbus, Verrutricolporites rotundiporis, Echitriporites spinosus, Canthimidites sp, Pordocarpus milanjanus and Verrutriculporites rotundiporis. Correlation with the existing pantropical zones yielded Upper Miocene to Pliocene age. Results from textural and lithological analysis show that the rock succession penetrated the Agbada and Benin Formations.","PeriodicalId":111900,"journal":{"name":"IOSR Journal of Applied Geology and Geophysics","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127153448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This was carried out using the weight loss technique in order to measure the effect of KCl/polymer muds on carbon steel, testing the mud behaviour for three different temperatures and the salt concentrations these helps in knowing the behaviour of the mud on downhole materials. From the Experiment it was confirmed that drilling fluids are corrosive and with the presence of salt and temperature, the corrosivity increases but decreases with increase in salt concentration. The rise in corrositivity continues with increasing temperature, but with the retardation in oxygen solubility the rise ceases. The corrosion rate of KCl/Polymer mud with these variables indicated high corrosion rate, which could be effect of other parameters that aided conductivity and the effect of temperature in the process. Those could have been based on the additives used in the mud that also contributed in aiding corrosion. However these effects were not regarded as prominent due to the addition of caustic soda that gave the mud a reasonably high pH of 9.5 to 10, which also inhibits corrosion. Other factors such as oxygen, whose effect was controlled by temperature, could have contributed to the corrosion rate. A low weight loss was shown after 72 hours exposure of the specimen to the mud. This was anticipated to be the inhibiting nature of potassium chloride, the static nature of the mud based on zero shear stress effect on the carbon steel surface and less oxygen transportation to the corroding specimen due to zero agitation of the mud. The minimum corrosion rate of the mud was 0.32 mm/year which was at the highest salt concentration and the lowest temperature of 40 0 C. The maximum corrosion rate was 0.96 mm/year which was at the lowest salt concentration and the highest temperature of 80 0 C, this agrees in principle with the behaviour of temperature and salt concentration.","PeriodicalId":111900,"journal":{"name":"IOSR Journal of Applied Geology and Geophysics","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127907570","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study used two Vertical Electrical Sounding data and three horizontal profiling data obtained using ABEM SAS 300B Terrameter. A computer modeling was used in processing the Data and partial curve matching was employed in the interpretation of the VES data. Five geoelectric layers of varying thicknesses, depth and resistivities were delineated. The fourth layer is where the best aquifer ranged from 41.70m to 42.90m at the various VES stations. The mean aquifer thickness, depth and resistivity value were calculated to be 23.74m, 42.30m and resistivity value of 3033.50 Ωm. The results of the interpretation of the two VES stations and the 2-D data have offered the opportunity of knowing the possible aquiferious zone within the study area. The results reveal that beyond the depth of 15.00m an aquifer system devoid of salt water intrusion will be possible.","PeriodicalId":111900,"journal":{"name":"IOSR Journal of Applied Geology and Geophysics","volume":"85 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114074975","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Results obtained from the analyses of these composite logs reveal eight potential hydrocarbon-bearing reservoirs. These reservoir sands were observed to have very good to excellent average porosities ranging from 29 to 45%. Permeability values were excellent within these reservoirs and range from 2200 to 5789mD. Hydrocarbon saturation was observed to be high in all the reservoir sands, ranging from 64 to 81% with corresponding water saturation from 36 to19%. The regimes observed indicate that porosity and permeability increase with depth. Cross-plots indicate increase in porosity and permeability with depth and a linear increase of permeability with porosity. Petrophysicists and reservoir analysts will find these results very beneficial for better understanding of the reservoir properties, fluid distribution and in quantifying the hydrocarbon prospectivity of this Field which is observed to be very high.","PeriodicalId":111900,"journal":{"name":"IOSR Journal of Applied Geology and Geophysics","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129440459","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
