Westernization is a challenge for Indonesian people in terms of preserving their own culture. This study aimed to determine the impact of foreign investment as the beginning of the spread of the westernization of American culture in Indonesia. This study utilized descriptive qualitative methods with an analysis of literature studies that specifically discussed the impact of foreign investment as the beginning of the westernization of American culture in Indonesia. The results of this study indicate that the westernization of American culture occurs because of foreign investment in Indonesia so that Indonesian people adopt some of the culture brought by that country. This study finds that the cultural shift in Indonesian society is caused by the westernization of American culture among the people. This westernization is the result of Indonesia’s opening to foreign investment, which has brought their culture to Indonesia. As a result, cultural assimilation occurs, leading to a cultural shift through westernization, especially in urban communities.","PeriodicalId":111594,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Sosiologi Dialektika","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115244531","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This condition is exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which encourages people with disabilities, especially the Teman Dengar and Teman Tuli communities to conduct online learning activities through video and audio. In line with this, this study seeks to provide steps that can be a solution in creating a friendly environment for people with disabilities, especially for the Teman Dengar and Teman Tuli both in the short and long term through the education sector. In explaining this, this study uses a qualitative method with the Van Kaam data analysis method through the interpretation of primary data from interviews which is expanded through secondary data from literature studies. Based on the data obtained, this study found that the stigma from the community who views the disabled group as a group that has lower quality and does not require higher education is an important factor inhibiting the creation of a friendly environment for disabled groups, especially for the Teman Dengar and Teman Tuli in Indonesia. This study concludes that a friendly environment for persons with disabilities is needed, including in the field of education, such as the use of SIBI and BISINDO in the general education curriculum.","PeriodicalId":111594,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Sosiologi Dialektika","volume":"122 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132634606","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As an important component in education, teachers have a role in supporting teaching and learning activities during the Covid-19 pandemic. However, teachers in implementing distance learning face obstacles in the form of unpreparedness to adapt to the technology used. This problem is also experienced by teachers at SDN Jajar Tunggal 1 Surabaya, so teachers must force themselves to continue learning using technology. This study aims to determine the discourse created in the implementation of distance learning. The method used in this study is a qualitative research method with Michael Foucault’s genealogical approach, and the determination of informants is carried out purposively. The results of this study are teachers have different discourses in seeing the implementation of distance learning. The implementation of distance learning using Microsoft Office 365 is used as a form of discipline for teachers. The use of technology makes it easier for schools and related agencies to evaluate teachers by standardizing the ability of teachers to apply technology. This study concludes that teachers have different discourses in the implementation of distance learning which are influenced by the knowledge of each teacher.","PeriodicalId":111594,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Sosiologi Dialektika","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122256300","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
