Providing data warehousing as a service is primarily aimed at medium and small business organizations, which have large volume of data but are incapable of having a suitable data warehousing infrastructure. A suitable architecture based on service orientation is proposed to provide different components of data warehousing as a service and describes how this architecture provide support for integration and discovery of services. Features of web services and data warehousing are combined to implement the proposed architecture. Data warehousing can be supported by service orientation which has the ability to join various services from different areas of the data warehouse to create composite applications. These composite applications can take the form of common services. Services are composed in such way that it would be generic to all data warehouses.","PeriodicalId":111485,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Cloud Computing Technologies, Applications and Management (ICCCTAM)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121128513","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An architecture for Infrastructure as a Service for such a billing model is presented. This billing model requires the estimation of costs for various configurations of computational requirement. Such a scenario would require estimation of application execution time. This paper evaluates the Worst Case Execution Time techniques available for real time systems for the cloud computing context. A neural network based application execution time based on non-mission critical systems, user specified parameters (e.g., CPU, operating system, and database parameters), historical training data and limited simulations is presented here.","PeriodicalId":111485,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Cloud Computing Technologies, Applications and Management (ICCCTAM)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124934840","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The pay as you use nature of cloud computing services such as EC2 provided by Amazon wherein you pay only for the servers, server or part thereof that you use also makes it economically attractive. This paper is targeted at researchers in the field of genetics and biotechnology who wish to understand how cloud computing can contribute to their area of research. Bio-informatics tools are extensively used in biological research today. These tools can be utilized more efficiently and in a possibly more cost and time effective manner using cloud technology. High-throughput genomics leads to reams of data that cannot be processed by local research facility computers at the speed it is generated. This bottleneck has been overcome by the use of cloud computing to store and to process data in real time. Large datasets and applications for image analysis, data mining, protein folding, and gene sequencing can also be shared for collaborative research between facilities using clouds. This is a simpler approach than transferring such data. Clouds also provide applications such as Apache's Hadoop and Google's MapReduce for parallel computing (particularly useful for making services such as BLAST easier to deploy in a shorter time). Cloud computing with characteristics like multi-tenacity, scalability, low cost, virtualization, agility and empowerment of end users has made it possible to share the results of studies at much finer granularity, along with sharing scientific investigations at the level of individual data points. Cloud technology can contribute significantly in areas such as biodiversity informatics and the study of human genetic variation and disease. We discuss these possibilities, the challenges in realizing the potential for application of cloud technology in biological sciences, and the work being done to overcome these challenges.","PeriodicalId":111485,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Cloud Computing Technologies, Applications and Management (ICCCTAM)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126804532","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a critical aspect of Business Continuity Management (BCM), as without data, the business comes to a standstill. DR in cloud would allow SME's to cut down their costs on expensive IT infrastructure and reduce the burden on IT department. This paper throws light upon the need for cloud and the services provided by cloud. It aims at provisioning the need for DR in companies and how DR in cloud would be the best service among all the cloud services and how the same would be highly beneficial to SME's.","PeriodicalId":111485,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Cloud Computing Technologies, Applications and Management (ICCCTAM)","volume":"124 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130710063","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it can be used in different other scenario, especially where the real time environment is similar to distributed environment. In this paper, we have focused on how workflow model in cloud computing can help to maintain the rescue and reorganization activities of disaster situation. The proposed architecture models disaster situation as a distributed cloud system.. In this regard, existing models deal with temporal and static constrain. However they cannot be used to keep pace with an uncertainly dynamic system like disaster management system. Therefore a dynamically configurable and changeable workflow model is proposed. Multi Agent System (MAS) is used to simplify system architecture. Another contribution of this paper is to define a dynamic adaptive scheduling algorithm that offers an appropriate execution sequence of workflow activities. At the same time proposed algorithms are also capable of resource allocation and imposing dynamic control over the system. Proposed algorithms also consider both successful and failed situation in case of scheduling different activities.","PeriodicalId":111485,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Cloud Computing Technologies, Applications and Management (ICCCTAM)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133559033","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paradigm arises due to the huge growth in applications and data sizes. Consider the fact that many agencies, organizations and departments are responsible for time-critical tasks and these tasks need to be completed as soon as possible. At the same time, these agencies also face IT problems because of the rapid growth of their applications, data and solution sizes. Many experts proposed that cloud computing is a solution to these problems so that each agency can execute its tasks via the cloud and expand their requirements based on each situation. This paper tackles the problem of scheduling data-intensive jobs to virtual machines located in the intercloud paradigm. The results depict the huge improvement in data transfer time and the reduction in jobs execution time. This paper concludes that ignoring the shared data would degrade the global system performance.","PeriodicalId":111485,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Cloud Computing Technologies, Applications and Management (ICCCTAM)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123517091","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In case of cloud, data from potentially competing sources could reside on the same disk or same memory structure, and a computer process can violate its virtual boundary to access the competitor's data. Current Virtual Machine Monitors (VMMs) used in cloud provide a good isolation in high level computing resources viz. memory, CPU, I/O devices. However, when looking at usage of shared cache, it may happen that one virtual machine (VM) interferes with another co-resident virtual machine due to uncontrolled cache sharing. Here performance isolation cannot be guaranteed and one VM may extract sensitive information from another VM. The proposed solution is intended to isolate the usage of shared cache by co-resident VMs and thus ensure no inter-VM interference.","PeriodicalId":111485,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Cloud Computing Technologies, Applications and Management (ICCCTAM)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131327567","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
