This usually results in repetitive and longer development cycles. This paper describes an intelligent web service to automatically produce non-standard and custom hardware description code, including its memory and system interfaces from abstract, executable specification (unaltered program) code, via intelligent web interface and intelligent human-web interactions. Provably-correct hardware compilations are performed on selected high-level program subroutines by employing logic programming techniques and an intelligent inference engine. The intelligent inference engine is invoked automatically within the processes of the implemented high-level synthesis compiler. The proposed methodology and implemented tools are proven applicable and successful by evaluating results from implementation of linear as well as repetitive, nested-loop - based targeted application source code programs.","PeriodicalId":111315,"journal":{"name":"2009 Fourth International Workshop on Semantic Media Adaptation and Personalization","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129576601","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The increased data acquisition has naturally resulted in the critical need for multimedia analysis for semantic object and event detection. Addressing this research problem, in this paper we present an novel architecture for extracting and indexing semantic objects with Scale Invariant Feature Transform features. The proposed approach exploits the developments of motion tracking and video indexing algorithms. The proposed framework is an ongoing development with the objective to enable the semantic retrieval of objects. The preliminary performance analysis of the proposed approach has been evaluated on a set of surveillance videos.","PeriodicalId":111315,"journal":{"name":"2009 Fourth International Workshop on Semantic Media Adaptation and Personalization","volume":"145 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127573157","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Annotations, i.e. notes, comments, explanations or other types of remarks bring to these activities new dimension. Annotations enrich the content and also support collaboration. This paper presents a method for annotation learning materials on programming. Learning materials in domain of programming consist of text mixed with programming exercises and code samples. The main idea of the annotation is an extension of learning materials by additional information helping students to understand learning subject easier and faster together with minimizing a need of finding supplemental information in external sources such as reference guides. Additionally, user annotations provide a context based communication space for students and their teacher: students add annotations into the learning text to ask, suggest or comment and the teacher evaluates the annotations and responds. To verify value of this approach we tested proposed method for annotation learning texts within an existing learning system in domain of functional and logic programming.","PeriodicalId":111315,"journal":{"name":"2009 Fourth International Workshop on Semantic Media Adaptation and Personalization","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125395046","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The number of different authors, the multitude of user-provided tags, the inherent connectivity between blogs and bloggers, the high update rate, and the time information attached to each post are some of the features that can be exploited in various information retrieval tasks. Traditional search engines perform poorly on blogs since they do not cover these aspects. In an attempt to exploit these features, this paper proposes a personalized recommendation model, which capitalizes on a collaborative rating mechanism that exploits the hyperlinks between blogs. The model assumes that the intention of a blog owner who creates a link to another blog is to provide a recommendation to the blog readers and quantifies this intention in a local score for the blog being pointed. A set of implicit and explicit links between any two blogs affect the exchanged score. The process is iterative and takes into account the opinion of a set of affiliated blogs and the freshness of links.","PeriodicalId":111315,"journal":{"name":"2009 Fourth International Workshop on Semantic Media Adaptation and Personalization","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127361664","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To resolve the problem a set of Grid Services are defined and implemented conforming to the OGSA standards. The proposed scheduling architecture is semantically enhanced and provides the most appropriate assignment of tasks to computing resources, given the current load conditions of each computing resource and the network status. The Ant Colony Optimization algorithm (ACO) was used to effectively assign tasks to computing resources. They are highly related with shapes and can also be representative of the image textures. Edge orientation histograms are usually very reliable descriptors suitable for image analysis, search and retrieval. In this work two methods to compute edge based orientation descriptors are reported: the \"Edge Pixel Orientations Histogram\" and the \"Angular Orientation Partition Edge Descriptor\".Edges are detected with Canny algorithm. The resulting edge pixels are separated into No gradient orientation intervals.For the first descriptor, edges detected without and with hysteresis, result in a histogram of gradient orientations. The two edge images are divided into NxN sub-images, resulting in a 2 No N N bins histogram.In the second descriptor, after an angular division of the image, edges are described by their angular orientations. Considering Na angular divisions, and No angular orientations, a descriptor with No Na bins results.Because of the angular geometry, this descriptor is resilient to rotation and by shifting the center of the angular division it is also possible to add translation resilience.Two examples of automatic image semantic annotation using this description method is reported using a database with 738 keyframes and the JPSearch database with 971 high resolution images (3888x2592).The K Nearest Neighbor is used as classifier and the Manhattan distance is used for image similarity computation. The two descriptors annotation performance are compared between them, with the MPEG-7 Edge Histogram Descriptor and with the SIFT descriptor.","PeriodicalId":111315,"journal":{"name":"2009 Fourth International Workshop on Semantic Media Adaptation and Personalization","volume":"239 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131648024","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
