[Mild infrared A hyperthermia in treatment of systemic scleroderma]. [轻度红外线热疗治疗系统性硬皮病]。

{"title":"[Mild infrared A hyperthermia in treatment of systemic scleroderma].","authors":"H Meffert,&nbsp;I Buchholtz,&nbsp;A Brenke","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>Seven female systemic sclerosis patients (all from acrosclerosis type, with intestinal involvement, and marked Raynaud phenomenon) were treated with infrared A whole body irradiations (wavelengths between 800 and 1,400 nm, 12 W/dm2 maximally). The single exposure lasted for 30 minutes and resulted in an 0.9 degrees C rise of central body temperature. Acral skin rewarming became regular immediately after irradiation and kept improved, as compared with pre-treatment values, for at least 18 weeks. All the patients told about a comfortable feeling of warmth after each treatment lasting for one two days. {"title":"[Psychosomatic dermatology].","authors":"U F Haustein,&nbsp;K Seikowski","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>An appreciative cooperation among dermatology, clinical psychology and psychology and psychiatry is necessary and useful. By selected facts interactions between central and autonomous nervous system on one side and the immune system on the other side were described. As far as the neutrocutaneous interrelations are concerned the cutaneous stimulation appears to be an important factor for the physical and physiologic development. In addition, the skin communicates to the environment and other people. Therefore, it plays a role in the social integration. Psychiatric diseases can affect the skin (e.g. delusions of parasitosis in schizophrenia). On the other hand primary skin diseases such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, acune vulgaris, chronic idiopathic urticaria and alopecia areata may induce psychologic features. The characteristics of the personalities of dermatological patients are discussed. The psychodiagnostics (personal interview, questionaires) is followed by psychotherapeutic procedures such as personal consultations, treatment in groups, hypnosis and autogenous training. Our experiences in the psychodiagnostics and treatment are briefly reported. In a big plant nursery and in hobby gardeners we found 8 cases of pollinosis to cyclamens, 3 to begonia, 1 to gloriosa rothschildiana and 1 to several kinds of lilies. The confirmation as occupational disease and a successful prevention of relapses require a change of the work place. Hyposensitization may be tried. For comparison the data of birth of all people being born during two years were treated the same way. There was a marked increase of atopic dermatitis with the persons born during the months August to October. On the other hand, the prevalence of atopic dermatitis was diminished with that persons who were born from February till July (with exception of May). Obviously, during the first months of life seasonally differing external factors influence directly o indirectly the decision, whether atopic dermatitis later on will manifest or not. The results obtained showed that 78.5 percent of the patients were cured while the disease recurred in 21.5 percent of the patients.
