First of all, I will introduce the discussion of the definition of the republican project, by studying the implications of the term it applied to itself: revolution. With this, I will introduce Ehrenburg’s view of the tensions of the time as a temporary pathology. Later, I will outline the antifascist political culture through the magazines Linea and Nueva Cultura. Then, I will approach Historia de un dia (Sender et al., 1935) and explain the link between the representations of time and the people. Afterwards, I will proceed to explain the poetry collection Candente horror (Gil-Albert, 1936) as a conflict between sensitivity and will, emphasizing its link with the historical antifascist gaze. The conclusion indicates the contrast between two points of view of the historical conflict that were joined together under the same front of cultural resistance.","PeriodicalId":109891,"journal":{"name":"Cultura de la República. It is precisely the purpose of this study to show the literary characteristics of an author like Carnes, around a key concept that stands out above any other in her narrative: the critical observation of her reality as a transgressive element, in light of the evolution of her literary production. This is a group whose cultural formation was forged, above all, thanks to the subcultural elements of mass media. The memory of the defeated, undoubtedly part of author’s own remembrance, as well as their cultural blend, subcultural references have become one of the core ideas that stands out in his poetic production, especially in the texts dedicated to the reality of post-war Barcelona. The aim of this study is thus to locate and study the presence and function of the aforementioned subcultural references in Montalban’s poetry. The main purpose of the poems is to reclaim the memory and the configuration of the daily reality of the post-war Raval, as well as to recover the representation of the fusion in the writer’s identity and formation.","PeriodicalId":109891,"journal":{"name":"Cultura de la República. Esta terrible experiencia, incluyendo una condena a muerte luego conmutada, es, sin embargo, el comienzo de su andadura como poeta. Marcos Ana mantendrá tanto su actividad política en el Partido Comunista como una incansable actividad cultural a pesar de las limitaciones a que eran sometidos por el régimen. Sus poemas irán saliendo de forma clandestina de la prisión y llegarán a oídos de poetas como Alberti o María Teresa León, transformando a su autor en un ejemplo de la resistencia ante la represión franquista.Palabras clave: Represión franquista, cárceles, poesía, Partido Comunista.Abstract: The author tells his stay during 23 years in Franco’s prisons.That terrible experience, including a sentence to death later commutated, is, anyway, the beginning of his poetic career. Life in prison oscillated between horror and solidarity. Marcos Ana maintained his political activity in Communist Party as much as his cultural activity spite of the Francoism limits. His poems went out of prison in secret and soon were well known by poets like Alberti or María Teresa León. Para desarrollar esta idea, se analizará la primera temporada de la serie 14 de abril, La república, emitida a partir del 2011 en TVE1. Partiendo del contexto de producción de la serie, se evaluará cómo la Segunda República se convierte a partir de los noventa en un atractivo referente fílmico. Posteriormente, analizaremos la construcción de la representación de la historia referencial Finalmente, nos interesaremos por la articulación entre Historia, memoria y cine.Palabras clave: Segunda República, representación fílmica, Historia.Abstract: The main objective of this article is to question the representations dealing with the Second Spanish Republic, and how, in them, the myths of the Francoism persists or, on the contrary, they utilise new representations paradigms. In order to develop this idea, this article will analyze the first season of the Spanish series 14 de abril, La República, releases in 2011 on TVE1. We will study, firstly, the historical context of the series’ production in order to evaluate how the Second Republic turns into a comfortable appeal filmic. On the other hand, we will analyze the specific relationship between representation and History. Se registran las formas más significativas en que dicha pulsión aparece en el mencionado documental y se tematizan en torno a la dualidad entre biofilia y necrofilia (entendida en sentido general, no sólo sexual) de Erich Fromm. Finalmente paso a una deconstrucción de dicha dualidad, o sea, a mostrar sus limitaciones como polaridad jerárquica.Palabras clave: Necrofilia, Biofilia, Eros, Tánatos, Deconstrucción, Dualidades Jerarquizadas, Cine, República, Hurdes, Buñuel.Abstract:This article explores the death drive, a relevant concept in modern art, in Las Hurdes, tierra sin pan, by Luis Buñuel. Their most signifcatives shapes on that documentary are registered and are clasified around the duality between biophilia and necrophilia (in general sense, beyond sexuality) from Erich Fromm. Se aspira así a destacar facetas menos sabidas por la mayoría de sus lectores y aún de la crítica al respecto. Analizaré las ideas forjadas por Machado en sus años de lectura y reflexión filosófica para demostrar cómo entendió, bien temprano, la crisis del sujeto y la noción de otredad, a la vez que se adentró en el conocimiento del alma popular. Mientras Machado toma distancia respecto a la llamada «Generación del 98», empieza su marcha al pueblo y desarrolla sus ideas acerca de la literatura política y popular. Con la proclamación de la Segunda República, Machado se convirtió en un intelectual público y participó activamente en las organizaciones republicanas asumiendo incluso cargos relevantes (aunque más honoríficos que orgánicos).Palabras clave: Machado, crisis del sujeto, otredad, literatura política, republicanismo.Abstract: Despite the many words written on Machado’s republicanism, this article will try to relate this issue to the biography and the works by Antonio Machado. Necessarily, I will repeat some ideas well-known, but I will also intend to shed light on the least known by many readers. I will analyze the ideas that Machado forges during his years of readings and philosophical reflection in order to demonstrate how he understood, so early, the crisis of the subject and the notion of otherness, as well as he went deeper into the knowledge of the «soul of the country». Whereas Machado distanced himself from the so-called «Generación del 98», he began this approach to the people and he develop his ideas about the political and popular literature. Se resalta la contradicción existente entre la radical descalificación del régimen republicano, declarándose la actual derecha española aglutinada en el Partido Popular como liberal reformista, y los valores consagrados en la Constitución republicana de 1931. A este respecto se repasan las posiciones de los principales autores franquistas y neofranquistas confrontándolos con la numerosa bibliografía académica ya existente sobre dicho período histórico.Palabras clave: Segunda República, pseudohistoria, franquismo, neofranquismo, cultura política.Abstract:The animosity shown by the right-wing sectors to the Republican regime is analysed here. This hostility especially refers to the period covered by the Second Republic (1931-1939) and, because of its brevity, not to the First Republic (1873-1874). For better or worse, the entire historical memory is focused on the Second Republic. We highlight the contradiction between the vilification of the Republican regime -with the present Spanish right-wing self-defined as reformist liberal in the Partido Popular- and the values established in the Republican Constitution of 1931. El artículo analiza con detalle uno de los poemas de Rafael Alberti escrito durante la Guerra Civil española. Dejando claro que el sujeto es el resultado de un conglomerado de influencias sociales y económicas, mediatizado por ellas y de las que no puede escapar, se plantea también que un poema desde dentro de la guerra no puede ser más que un poema a vida o muerte. Y desde este supuesto se lleva a cabo el análisis de «Niebla».Palabras clave: Poesía, Guerra Civil Española, Rafael Alberti.Abstract: The relationship between poetry and war is always a complex issue. Is it possible to make anything else than hymns or songs? This article is a detailed analysis of a Rafael Alberti’s poem composed during the Spanish Civil Word. As it is obvious, the subject can’t avoid all the influences of his social surrounding, and any poem written in the middle of the war is a poem in the border of life or death.
