The control input is assumed to be bounded. Design methods are presented for continuous-time as well as discrete-time controllers. Sensitivities of the control system performance due to mismatches between the model and the plant are also studied. Finally, an adaptive time-optimal feedback controller is investigated which is capable of updating model parameters during normal system operation.","PeriodicalId":109541,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and Control Instrumentation","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1981-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115026223","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The modified direct-decoupling method uses the adjoint matrix instead of the inverse of the plant matrix to construct the compensator. The method uses a frequency-domain model-reduction method to simplify the degree of the given plant transfer function matrix and the obtained compensator. For an open-loop stable multivariable system, the proposed method gives a simple, practical, and realizable controller without using an unstable pole-zero cancellation approach.","PeriodicalId":109541,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and Control Instrumentation","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1981-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125459549","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is shown that the circuit has several advantages: It has lower trapped energy as compared to the conventional complementary impulse-commutated inverter. It has good output voltage waveform. It is possible to turn off all the thyristors in the bridge circuit by the gate-control circuit. Besides, any fault resulting from spurious triggering of a blocking thyristor is of self-healing type. The commutation performance of such an inverter circuit is analyzed and is shown to be similar to the McMurray inverter. Design of the commutation elements is presented. The analytical results are experimentally verified and discussed.","PeriodicalId":109541,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and Control Instrumentation","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1981-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121530138","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different types of firing angle variation characteristics are possible because of the generalized phase detector used in the circuit. The controller can operate over a wide range of supply frequencies and is immune to the transients and harmonic distortions in the supply voltage. Also changes in the supply voltage amplitude do not have any effect on the firing angle. The same circuit can be used to provide firing pulses for three- or six-element thyristor configurations. The scheme can be successfully used for thyristor converters and cycloconverters.","PeriodicalId":109541,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and Control Instrumentation","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1981-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130586242","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The drive employs slip frequency and flux regulation for improved performance of the induction motor and a current source inverter for ruggedness. The software and hardware structure for the microcomputer control system are described. The constant airgap flux control scheme is implemented by storing a slip frequency-motor current lookup table in the computer memory. Experimental results obtained from a test model are presented. The drive allows a wide range of operating speeds.","PeriodicalId":109541,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and Control Instrumentation","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1981-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132527026","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The digital and hybrid simulations as well as the Z transform are used to analyze these items of discussion. As the results of the analysis, two compensating methods, that is, the current compensator and the speed feedback loop are proposed for enlargement of both static and dynamic operating load torque ranges of the PLL-controlled motor. This effect of the compensators is predicted through theoretical procedures, assessed by the hybrid simulator, and confirmed by experiments. The effects due to the current compensator and the speed feedback loop on the stability and the speed control accuracy of the PLL system are inspected with the aid of digital and hybrid simulations. These compensators do not virtually affect the stability of the PLL system. The speed control accuracy of the PLL system can be increased by virtue of the speed feedback loop. Design examples based on the discussion in this paper are provided and the authors conclude that the methods for performance improvement have substantial effects on the practical design for the microprocessor-based digital PLL speed control system.","PeriodicalId":109541,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and Control Instrumentation","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1981-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132617660","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
