This study clarified the applicability of MSPF in a greenhouse and finding the optimal micropores group spacing and irrigation amount. Treatments were ranged in completely randomised design aimed to determine the effects of different micropores group spacing (L1: 30 cm micropores group spacing, and L2: 50 cm micropores group spacing) and irrigation amount [I1:0.7 Epan; I2:1.0 Epan; and I3:1.2 Epan (Epan is the diameter of 20-cm standard pan evaporation, mm)] of the MSPF on the yield and quality of tomato. The results showed that the MSPF can be used as one of the micro-irrigation methods of greenhouse, which can lead to saving water, increase yield, and improve crop quality. Compared to L2, L1 was better for fruit quality, yield, and water use efficiency (WUE). With increasing irrigation amount, the fruit shape and yield increased, but the fruit flavour, nutrition and WUE decreased. The combination of the 30 cm micropores group spacing and 1.0 Epan is recommended for greenhouse tomato under MSPF in arid and semi-arid sandy loam soil of facility agriculture.","PeriodicalId":10935,"journal":{"name":"Day 1 Mon, April 25, 2022","volume":"9 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85437232","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, its growth, yield, and quality are reduced by several abiotic stresses such as salt stress. This study, consisted of two independent experiments was conducted to examine the effects of salt stress in potato and influence of nanoparticle-sized zinc (ZnO-NPs) in improving salt tolerance. The first experiment was conducted under in vitro conditions to evaluate the regenerated callus growth in response to the presence or absence of ZnO-NPs under different levels of NaCl (0, 17, 34, 51 and 68 mM). The second experiment was conducted using in vitro derived plantlets treated ex vitro with ZnO-NPs to evaluate its effect on tuber yield and nutritional quality under salt stress (0.0, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 g L -1 ). In both experiments, ZnO-NPs were applied at 0.0 or 50 mg L -1 to three potatoes cvs. Spunta, Nicola, and Hermes raised under five levels of NaCl-induced salt stress: 0, 17, 34, 51 and 68 mM. Salt stress significantly reduced the in vitro callus growth progressively with increasing NaCl levels, while ZnO-NPs had a positive impact on growth under salt stress. Potato tubers harvested ex vitro differed significantly for calcium and iron under different levels of salt stress in response to ZnO-NPs application. The number of tubers responded negatively to increasing levels of NaCl with or without ZnO-NPs application. All three potato cultivars, grown under 34 mM NaCl, regardless of ZnO-NPs application, had a significantly higher number of tubers than when grown at other NaCl concentrations. The highest number of tubers was recorded for all three tested potato cultivars receiving ZnO-NPs under non-saline conditions, whereas the lowest number was recorded in plants under high levels of salinity, with or without ZnO-NPs. The cv. Spunta was the least affected by salt stress followed by the cv. Hermis and cv. Nicola for most traits. Application of ZnO-NPs proved effective in ameliorating the salinity-induced harmful effects on yield and quality of potato.","PeriodicalId":10935,"journal":{"name":"Day 1 Mon, April 25, 2022","volume":" 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91413211","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The condition leads to metabolic diseases including; aging, diabetes, atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction and cancer. Antioxidants are the mainstay to modulate the consequences of oxidative damage. Secondary metabolites from lactic acid producing bacteria possess antioxidant activity. The present study aimed at isolating and identifying antioxidant metabolites present in cell free supernatant (CFS) of broth culture of Lactobacillus brevis MG 000874. Thin layer chromatography (TLC) coupled bioautography of different fractions of methanol extract of CFS using 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) model indicated antioxidant activity in ethyl acetate fraction. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy of the isolated compound revealed the presence of aldehyde and alkyl functional groups. GC-MS analysis led to identification of four active compounds viz. a) L-proline, N-valeryl, hexyl ester b) Ergotaman-3',6',18-Trione,12'-Hydroxy-2'-Methyl-5'-(2-Methylpropyl) c) 2-Methylthiolane, S, S-Dioxide and d) Phenol, 3,5-Bis(1,1-Dimethylethyl). Findings of present study may be useful in developing antioxidant drugs from bacterial origin.","PeriodicalId":10935,"journal":{"name":"Day 1 Mon, April 25, 2022","volume":"40 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90079181","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
