Notes on character variation are provided along with images of the species, a key to species of Lestrimelitta Friese s. str ., and a key to subgenera of Lestrimelitta. This control programme was based on the importation of a non-native\u0000 parasitoid, Torymus sinensis. Results from five years of parasitoid release are presented, including a list of native parasitoid species associated with D. kuriphilus galls in Madeira. Four species\u0000 are included in this group, two of which are new to Science: Scaptotrigona pasiphaea, sp. n., from southern Amazonian Peru, and S . silviae, sp. n., from eastern and southeastern Brazil. The remaining two species are S . tubiba (Smith) and S . affabra\u0000 (Moure).
