These structures, however, are often subject to change. At present, the literature on supervisory control offers only a few remedies for the synthesis of adaptive or robust discrete event systems. The scanning capability is added to the conventional discrete LDV by reflecting the laser beams on the surface of the object using a harmonically oscillating mirror which is driven by an electromagnetic resonant scanning actuator. The precise and sufficient sweep angle is obtained without using a position controller. If a continuous sinusoidal scanning method is used, it can be shown that the velocity output signal from the SLDV is modulated to give the spatial velocity distribution in terms of coefficients which are obtained from the Fourier transformation of the time dependent velocity signal. Using the Chebyshev series form, the analysis of the vibration mode shape techniques for straight line scanning and 2D area scanning are presented and discussed. The performance of the proposed SLDV is presented using the experimental results of the vibration mode shape of a cantilever beam.","PeriodicalId":108537,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2000. In this paper, a new approach to CCC is proposed to efficiently reduce the computation of cross-coupling gains for arbitrary contour commands. The contouring error vector is used here to derive the new CCC approach. The estimated contouring error vector is defined as a vector from the actual position to the nearest point of the line that passes through the reference position tangentially. Thus, the implementation of CCC becomes much more direct with only one simple formulation for cross-coupling gains. Finally, the experimental results on a CNC machining center show that the proposed CCC approach efficiently reduces the contouring error during arbitrary contour motion. Moreover, the calculations required to obtain the variable gains of the CCC are significantly reduced.","PeriodicalId":108537,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2000. Based on the nonlinear characteristic of the artificial muscle tube, a dynamic model of the artificial muscle actuator is formed and exploited to derive a full dynamic model for the manipulator system. By applying the sliding mode control technique and the presented full dynamic of the manipulator, a robust tracking control approach is developed for such a manipulator system. The controller consists of a feedforward control part and a sliding mode control part. Asymptotic stability of the closed-loop tracking error system is proven by means of the Lyapunov method. Some numerical case studies are provided to illustrate the performance of the control approach.","PeriodicalId":108537,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2000. Behavior-based fuzzy control for the HelpMate mobile robot was designed. The design and implementation of the fuzzy control system is described. The fuzzy controller provides the mechanism for solving sensor data from all sonar sensors which present different information. The behavior-based approach is implemented as an individual high priority behavior. The highest level behavior is called task-oriented behavior, which consists of two subtasks, wall following and goal following. The lower level is obstacle avoidance behavior. The lowest is an emergency behavior. Visual Basic 6 code was developed for implementation. The fuzzy inference system was created. Helpmate obstacle avoidance was implemented. The result shows that each behavior works correctly. The HelpMate robot can avoid all obstacles that are detected by sonar sensors.","PeriodicalId":108537,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2000. A solution is also proposed to alleviate the effect of measurement noise on feedback ANC systems. In adaptive feedback ANC systems, the multi-tonal noise used as reference signal is synthesized from the residual error signal, which is generally corrupted with measurement noise. The proposed algorithm estimates the frequencies of the multi-tonal noise and generates an enhanced version of it. This enhanced signal is used as a reference signal in the feedforward ANC configuration. An analysis of the effect of the accuracy of frequency estimation on the performance of ANC is presented. Simulation results to verify the efficacy of the proposed algorithm are also presented.","PeriodicalId":108537,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2000.
