Sirturo is a brand name for a drug that belongs to the diarylquinoline class of drugs. Bedaquiline is a diarylquinoline antimycobacterial drug that works by blocking an enzyme within the bacteria that cause TB. It prevents the proton pump of mycobacterial adenosine 5 ′ -triphosphate (ATP) synthase. Bedaquiline is metabolized in hepatic form and eliminated in the feces. Bedaquiline is effective and safe in treating multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) and extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB) patients. This drug treatment regimen was well supported and tended to a good result in this clinically relevant patient associated with MDR-TB.","PeriodicalId":107391,"journal":{"name":"Pondicherry Journal of Nursing","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128806379","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among under-five children from the year 2012 to 2016, more than one million HMFD (hand, mouth, and foot disease) cases have been reported in India. HMFD is a viral infection caused mainly by Coxsackievirus-16 and sometimes Enterovirus-17. Materials and methods: The research design used for this study was a descriptive comparative research design. Sixty samples (30 mothers of under-five children and 30 staff nurses from pediatric ward) were selected by using purposive sampling technique. The study was conducted at pediatric ward at MGMCRI (Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute) in Puducherry. Result: This result showed that knowledge regarding HMFD of the staff nurses is more than that of the mothers of under-five children and there is no significant association between the knowledge regarding the HMFD among the mothers of under-five children with selected demographic variables. Demographic variables of clinical experience and area of postings among staff nurses are statistically significant. Conclusion: There is a need to be aware of HMFD among the mothers of under-five children and nurses. Screening is necessary to detect the hand, mouth and foot disease among children.","PeriodicalId":107391,"journal":{"name":"Pondicherry Journal of Nursing","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124541128","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Darier’s disease is mainly represented by crusty dark patches over the skin, rarely with exudates, and it is otherwise termed as Darier’s white patches, keratosis follicularis, keratotic papules, or dyskeratotic follicularis. It is an autosomal disorder, and it is tested by genetic testing registry, skin biopsy, and by means of obtaining a familial history. Around 90% of the cases are treated by oral retinoids and topical application. Remaining cases need a surgical repair. The person affected with this disease may have chances of getting mood disorders.","PeriodicalId":107391,"journal":{"name":"Pondicherry Journal of Nursing","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132335197","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present investigation is meant to evaluate the degree of torment in musculoskeletal issue through evidence-based research. Cold and compression are routinely applied or immediately after acute injury to help in relieving pain, and it will reduce swelling and speed functional recovery. Literature review is to describe the published clinical findings regarding combined cold and compression therapy in the management of pain in musculoskeletal disorders. Cold compression therapy provides better outcomes such as pain relief compared to alternative interventions. The efficacy of oxygen-compressed cold application in pain reduction in patients with musculoskeletal disorders was also studied. These observations have resulted in technological advances directed toward combining these modalities in an effort to effectively manage and prevent musculoskeletal injury and disorders. In this review, the scientific basis for thermal-based therapeutic modalities, both alone and in conjunction with soft-tissue massage and compression, will be discussed. Additionally, the advantages of the effective device for the treatment and prevention of pain among patients with musculoskeletal disorders will be considered.","PeriodicalId":107391,"journal":{"name":"Pondicherry Journal of Nursing","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122638096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
