An ANN (artificial neural network) based controller selects the amount of harmonic current injection based on the percentage of harmonic distortion present in the source current and also on the reactive power requirement of the load. The state-space averaging method is applied to formulate the small-signal models; valid up-to half of the switching frequency, of the converter and a loop gain is adapted to design the voltage-mode discrete compensator. Closed-loop performance of the HOBC is analyzed. The results of controller design and closed-loop analysis are illustrated through computer simulations for 48 V applications. A new classification scheme of power system emergencies and its operating states is presented. Linear sensitivity and D-factor methods are used to identify the overloading of the power system components. Transient stability analysis is used to identify the emergency operating states of power system. Classification and detection of emergencies has been useful for developing emergency operating state controls. The excitation capacitors, electronic load controller, 1-phase load in conjunction with the d-q model of the 3-phase induction machine taking into account the saturation effect are used to predict the dynamic behavior of the SEIG. The digital control is realized by means of PIC18F252 microcontroller which provides a better performance with increased operational flexibility. The supply industry requires forecasts with lead times, which range from the short term (a few minutes, hours, or days ahead) to the long term (up to 20 years ahead). The major priority for an electrical power utility is to provide uninterrupted power supply to its customers. Long term peak load forecasting plays an important role in electrical power systems in terms of policy planning and budget allocation. This paper presents a peak load forecasting model using Artificial Neural Networks (ANN). The approach in the paper is based on multi-layered back-propagation feed forward neural network. But its electromagnetic environment problem is one of the keys which affect the feasibility of EHV transmission lines, so it's important to study the electromagnetic environment. This paper calculates the electric field intensity and magnetic field intensity generated by transmission lines in different phase line sequences of different tower modes. We can accurately obtain the electric field and magnetic field distribution under EHV transmission lines using finite element analysis. From these simulating results, we can get the most reasonable position of transmission lines on tower and the best phase line sequence which has the least electromagnetic field intensity in 500 kV/220 kV mixed voltage four-circuit transmission lines on same tower. This technique like other high performance control methods such as vector control is rarely applied to single phase machines. However, development of high performance low power drives is receiving some attention. This paper investigates the performance of single phase direct torque controlled induction motor drive. Unified modeling approach is used to adapt direct torque control (DTC) of both symmetrical as well as asymmetrical single phase induction motor. It is also demonstrated that it is possible to take winding and angle asymmetry into accounts. However, field current and voltage become quite large for larger generators, such as 700 MW generator for Three-Gorge power plant, China. In order to put varistor into operation during de-excitation requirement for opening arc-voltage of dc field breaker is high and high. This causes big size, structure complexity, high cost and difficult maintenance of field breaker. That is why an alternating current de-excitation (ACDE) is adopted, which acts on ac side of thyristor rectifier-bridge for de-excitation. But up to now ACDE is not reliable enough, so ACDE in Three-Gorge power plant is used as an auxiliary for de-excitation. New ACDE proposed in the paper uses capacitor parallel connected to varistor, the former with inductance and resistance of field winding is able to cause serial resonance of RLC[1,2] and produce high voltage during de-excitation, which may force varistor to operate and fast de-excitation can be implemented. The field breaker on dc side of field may be omitted at all. The continuous control variables are unit-active power outputs and generator-bus voltage magnitudes, transformer tap settings and switchable shunt devices. The differential evolution is illustrated for two case studies of IEEE-30 bus system. Both conventional and non-conventional cost characteristics are considered for the optimal power flow solution. The feasibility of the proposed method is compared with a simple evolutionary programming algorithm. The conditional value at risk (CVaR) is used as the risk measurement index. The new model is applied to determine the electricity allocation ratio and efficient frontiers for the LDC in three markets. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed model is correct, and it can guarantee the LDC to bear the minimum CVaR risk within a certain expected purchase cost.
