During growth on pyrene, the bacterial cell density was monitored by measuring the O.D600. Extracellular protein and bacterial count were determined. The degradation percentage of pyrene was quantified by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).The isolate MAM-P39, which has been identified by 16S rDNA, was the best pyrene degrader. This isolate was identified as Pseudomonas panipatensis MAM-P39 with accession number MF150314. It could degrade 90.5% and 66.03% of 500 and 2000 μM pyrene. Degradation products of pyrene were identified by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis.","PeriodicalId":106668,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Ecology and Health","volume":"117 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131520536","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mwanza","doi":"10.18576/JEHE/050302","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.18576/JEHE/050302","url":null,"abstract":"Experimental short time population and production of aflatoxin B1 by Aspergillus flavus in wheat flour at 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40oC, as related to different moisture contents 5%, 8%, 10%, 12%, 14%, 16%, 18%, 20%, 22% and 25%, was studied. Spore suspension of a toxigenic A. flavus containing ~ 3×10 spore/ml was inoculated in each flask containing 50 g wheat flour and incubated for 15 days. Spore count was observed slightly in flour with a moisture content 5% at all incubation temperature, then increased gradually by rising the moisture content reaching the maximum at 30oC with moisture content 25%. High performance liquid chromatography analysis of AFB1 showed the lowest quantification (482 ng/kg) at 20oC with 8% moisture content in comparison to uninoculated control. The higher quantity of AFB1 (637835.4 ng/kg) was produced at 25oC with 25% moisture content. Accumulation of high amounts of AFB1 was noticed at 20, 30 and 35oC with moisture content 25%. However, at 40oC with moisture contents 22% and 25%, high spore count was recorded, but traces of AFB1 were produced. The significance of this investigation is that, in the event of wheat flour contamination with afltoxigenic species, rise in moisture contents are hazardous in the storage of wheat flour around 25oC.","PeriodicalId":106668,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Ecology and Health","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123263907","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Physiological and anatomical responses of tree leaf due to airborne particles deposition were studied. Leaves exhibited reduction in their surface area, dry weight, chlorophyll contents, and an increase of carotenoids content. Anatomical features exhibited highly significant variations between control and polluted sites. All the measured parameters showed seasonal and plant species effects, where F. nitida appeared to be more sensitive than E. globulus. Correlation between leaf characteristics and the mass of captured leaf deposit reflects the existence of an association in between and the drastic conditions caused by the prevailing atmospheric pollution, recommend their using as biomarkers.","PeriodicalId":106668,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Ecology and Health","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114850508","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
