Applications that rely on vehicle-infrastructure (V2I) and vehicle-vehicle (V2V) communications have different requirements and would benefit from a widely deployed common standard for the exchange of data. IP (Internet Protocol) is thus advocated as the convergence layer between the various available wireless technologies available on the market. This paper surveys the methods employed in the Imara team to provide a stable communication environment allowing driverless vehicles to interact with each other in several scenarios where information sharing is required. This paper aims at presenting current integration and testing work performed at the LaRA lab for inter-vehicular communication. From the characterization of communication performance, we analyze the suitability of a set of applications. The system consists of a pair of panoramic annular lens (PAL) cameras, which are installed on the top of the vehicle. The panoramic annular lens can project the view of the entire 360 degrees around the optical axis onto an annular plane. Two cameras which are fixed properly can capture all view of the surroundings of the vehicle. They are calibrated by using the spherical perspective projection model to unwrapped the conventional perspective image without distortion. A front panoramic image and a back panoramic image of the vehicle form a vehicle dynamic panoramic map (VDPM). A driver can watch the scene in any direction of the vehicle through the VDPM, which will make the drive safer. Three coordinates systems are established in order to obtain the obstacle position information from the vehicle. We create a virtual binocular vision situation using the video stream from each one panoramic camera. The binocular analysis technique with area-based correlation is used to recognize the obstacle and compute the distance from the vehicle. The experiment result shows the basic feasibility of this system. Results show that, with respect to throughput, delivery ratio, and average delay, when sea wave direction is perpendicular to the nodes connection direction, good MESH MAC performance can be achieved in sea states 1.0, 3.0, 5.0, and 7.0, for both 1-hop and 2-hop CBR connections with hop distance more than 10 km. With relative parallel wave direction, in sea states 1.0 and 3.0, the MAC performance is close to that of the perpendicular case while it drops in sea state 5.0 and 7.0; however the delivery ratio can still be more than 60 percent. This paper introduces an optimized Multiple Gate Delay (MGD) code tracking implementation in the modified GRANADA Bit-true Software Receiver Simulator. Then the tracking performance of the optimized MGD structure is presented via GRANADA simulation results. This tracking performance is also compared with the tracking performance of High Resolution Correlator (HRC) and of the narrow correlator or narrow Early-Minus-Late (nEML) structures. The tracking performance criteria include Multipath Error Envelopes (MEEs) and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) for both multipath static channels and fading channels. As the trends, it is widely believed that ITS is no longer a simple standalone application in the vehicle. How to provide a convenient and flexibility mechanism to integrate multiple applications seamlessly has became an urgent issue. In this paper, we propose a SOAP-based IPv6 Middleware platform to establish a unified framework which can easily integrate all the services or messages provided by different ITS applications or devices. The proposed Middleware is composed of four major parts: communication management, device management, object management and data management. However, it involves many different domain knowledge and techniques in practical implementation. In this paper we are primarily concerned with one of the key techniques when build up this middleware, namely SOAPv6 (Simple Object Access Protocol over IPv6).
