The FPGA based compensation unit senses a residual voltage on the low potential port of the compared impedances continuously. The sensing process is made by means of a synchronous detection technique; a principle of the lock-in amplifiers is implemented on the FPGA for each channel. Simultaneously a voltage proportional to the residual voltage is injected into a main measuring circuit via an injection transformer. Thanks to this feedback, residual voltages at low potential port of measured impedances are reduced more than 1000 times. A typical level of residual voltages is about 5 μV. The compensation unit can be applied in the frequency range from 10 kHz up to 2 MHz. The boundary of the range are mainly limited by properties of digital phase-locked loop as well as parameters of CIC filters used as low-pass filters on the outputs of digital multipliers. The unit is controlled by a PC via optical insulated USB port.","PeriodicalId":106306,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 6th IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Data Acquisition and Advanced Computing Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130129275","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ontologies reflect semantic relationship between concepts represented by attributes in service descriptions and service requests. We use knowledge from ontologies to enhance the both user service requests and service descriptions by adding concepts that are not presented in the original descriptions, and use them in comparison process. It results in more precise matching since we consider also implicit concepts. Thus services and requests that do not contain exact matching attributes can be anyway found semantically matching on some abstraction level.","PeriodicalId":106306,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 6th IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Data Acquisition and Advanced Computing Systems","volume":"14 6","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131490194","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

From the practical viewpoint the preferable way out of this problem seems to be in early fault detection based on real-time data analysis while PEC operation. However the analyzed data contain nonlinear and noise components which are “mixed” over time by intricate manner. So, it is necessary at least integrate possibilities of the bifurcation, spectrum and statistical methods. In the paper such new technique allowing a visible reduction of uncertainties on bifurcation diagrams is proposed and discussed.","PeriodicalId":106306,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 6th IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Data Acquisition and Advanced Computing Systems","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131636641","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We had a long industrial research project in co-operation with a Finnish nuclear power plant Olkiluoto. We developed many decision support schemes based on Self-Organizing Map (SOM) method combined with other methodologies. Also several visualizations based on various data-analysis methods were developed. Data from the Olkiluoto plant and training simulator was used in the analysis. In this paper some of these visualizations are presented, analyzed, and assessed with a psychological framework. Measuring the information value of the visualizations is a real challenge. The developed visualizations and visualization techniques are also compared with some existing visualizations and techniques in current plants and research laboratories. The visualizations and the visualization techniques are developed further, and completely new visualizations and techniques are developed. We point out what additional value the new visualization techniques can produce. A detailed test case of using Self-Organizing Map (SOM) method with Olkiluoto plant data is presented. With this practical example the information value of this method is shown, and it is also pointed out how it can be assessed, and what are the most reliable criteria in this assessment.","PeriodicalId":106306,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 6th IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Data Acquisition and Advanced Computing Systems","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134202381","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Energy saving actions could follow two basic directions: efficiency and effectiveness: efficiency, by new more performing equipment (lamps, control gear, etc.) and by utilization of improved lighting design practices (localised task lighting systems); effectiveness by improvements in lighting control systems to avoid energy waste and by adopting a technical building management system (maintenace and metering). By controlling the lighting in such a way that the lighting level is always accurately matched to the actual need allows to save on the energy costs and to improve the human comfort and efficiency. Establishing an integrated lighting control concept is a very important part of the lighting design process. Directly controlling and managing energy consumption it is possible to reach high effectiveness in energy management.","PeriodicalId":106306,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 6th IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Data Acquisition and Advanced Computing Systems","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134637244","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
