We show that we can construct stable approximations for hyperelastic problems using the same approach as that used for finite-elements. We also show that the extension to thermo-mechanical problems is very simple. Using simple numerical examples and the same variationnal formulation, we compare the numerical performance of IGA and FE.","PeriodicalId":10574,"journal":{"name":"Constitutive Models for Rubber XI","volume":"11 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78988225","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was extensively investigated within the last decades (e.g. Zhang et al. 2013, Brüning 2014). In practical use, and mainly in the case of pre-cracked respectively damaged samples, the strain field around the crack tip is highly inhomogeneous. This will influence the strain induced crystallization. Therefore, the effective crystallite distribution and orientation around the crack tip will be as well inhomogeneous. In contrast to the uniaxial tensile load of rubber with fibre symmetrical distribution of crystallites, in pure shear samples no fibre symmetry is found. The crystallite orientation with respect to the sample geometry will be investigated via x-ray scattering. and the results are used to describe the crystallization under inhomogeneous stretching conditions.","PeriodicalId":10574,"journal":{"name":"Constitutive Models for Rubber XI","volume":"44 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77787569","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This contribution presents an isotropic, hyperelastic material model for cellular rubbers based on the approach of Danielsson, Parks, & Boyce (2004). For model validation and parameter fitting, experimental characterization were carried out for a foamed elastomers based on a natural rubber compound. Moreover, a feasible procedure of parameter fitting avoiding lateral strain measurement is outlined and tested. Furthermore, a finite element model of the microstructure of the cellular rubber is reconstructed from a computer tomography scan.","PeriodicalId":10574,"journal":{"name":"Constitutive Models for Rubber XI","volume":"14 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74900883","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
