Our goal is to create a model for tumor growth that describes the underlying physiological processes adequately while being as simple as possible. We propose a second-order model containing linear terms and one bilinear term modeling the dynamics of tumor volume and inhibitor level, and work out the parametric identification process for the model. The parametric identification of the model is done using measurements from experiments on C57Bl/6 mice with C38 colon adenocarcinoma treated with bevacizumab. The control group of the mice received one injection at the beginning of the experiment, these measurement data are used for parametric identification, while the case group of mice received injection at each day of the treatment, these measurements are used to validate the model. By filtering the alpha band and by using the power spectral density of that same band, our data were analyzed using the percentiles as measures of dispersion. A threshold discriminating the two states was found, which helped to highlight the area of the brain responsible for the state of drowsiness for driver. So, in this work, we look to develop a drowsiness monitoring system in the goal to participate in reducing of the big number of road accidents to estimate the drowsiness level by analysis of EEG (electroencephalography) signals records. Unfortunately, it is a typical ill-posed problem, as only numerical approximation methods are available for finding an approximate solution. It is common to use some heuristic methods, such as genetic algorithms, particle swarm optimisation, etc. Although the main mechanisms of these approaches are well-known, the practical implementations raise several questions about the free parameters (population size, elitism, mutation probability/range, etc.). It is a common view that today's surgical simulators that are using haptic interfaces should rely on simple mechanical models of soft tissues, instead of complex, parameterized finite element models, thus enhancing real-time operation and focusing on the most representative mechanical effects. This paper proposes a user-trial validation method for tissue models and their polytopic representation by creating an experimental framework for soft tissue characterization, using the da Vinci Research Kit. The characterization methdodology relies on haptic feedback from the manipulated real tissue, extending the functionality of surgical simulators using virtual tissue models created by the previously proposed soft tissue modeling method. Results showed that the tissue model represents the tissue behavior sufficiently well for use in haptic simulators, based on user experience. In this survey, we analyzed the state of the art of the present large scale Photovoltaic application (technology, size, efficiency, cost). We investigated also in detail the commercially available new PV technologies, e.g.: Thin film, Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC), organic PV cells (OPV), and their near future's application perspectives. Finally, this paper summarizes the research findings of the new PV technologies' challenge that need to be overcome, on particular stability, efficiency, lifetime and degradation. From measurement technology point of view, it is regarded as a classical solution to solve a problem by application of calculation according to the principle of three-dimensional triangulation. A newer possible solution is provided by application of imaging systems, which may give good results with proper software support. In our article we deal with measurement technology problems of a special area. Measurement of parameters of spectacle elements for pyrotechnics is important from the point of view of qualification of applied pyrotechnical tool and of programming of the planned effect. For that purpose, ultra-wideband sensors (radars) operating in the frequency band DC-5GHz can be used with advantage. The basic principle of respiratory motion detection consists in the identification of sensor signal components possessing a significant power in the frequency band 0.2–0.7 Hz (frequency band of a human respiratory rate) corresponding to a constant range between the target and radar. However, the problem of person localization associated with the estimation of their breathing rate has not been studied deeply. In order to fill this gap, an approach for a joint localization and breathing rate estimation of a person will be introduced in this chapter. For that purpose, a combination of a method for the static person localization based on power-spectrum estimation using Welch periodogram referred to as WP-STAPELOC method and the Welch periodogram, MUSIC algorithm and Burg methods for the estimation of a fundamental harmonic of respiratory motion will be introduced. The performance of proposed procedure will be evaluated using a data obtained at experimental scenario.
