Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) is one of the widely discussed optimization problems. The research on integration of VRP with CD (VRPCD) was initiated at the beginning of 2000s. Moving Shipments (MS) from receiving doors to shipping doors is an activity inside a Cross-Dock Centre (CDC). This study mainly considers MS as an additional aspect in the literature of VRPCD. In this study, not only loading or unloading shipments at all the nodes including CDC and homogenous fleets of vehicles within pickup or delivery process are considered, but also aspects of heterogeneous fleets of vehicles between pickup and delivery processes are considered. Furthermore, Time Windows (TW) characteristics are also considered here. A mixed integer nonlinear programming model is developed to obtain the optimal solutions to hard time windows vehicle routing problem with moving shipments at the cross-dock centre (TW-VRPCD-MS). The compatibility of the proposed model is tested using sixteen randomly generated small scale instances. Since the average computational time is reasonably less for the tested instances, it can be concluded that this proposed model can be used for last time planning for similar small-scale problems. Further analysis revealed that the convergence rate to reach the optimal solution rises exponentially with the scale of the problem. Therefore, this study recommends in applying heuristic or metaheuristic techniques to solve large scale instances of TW-VRPCD-MS to obtain a near optimal solution in a reasonable computational time.","PeriodicalId":105560,"journal":{"name":"Ousl Journal","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116806954","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study dwelt on the theory of planned behaviour which predicts intentions. The study adopted a survey research design. A simple random sampling technique was used to select a sample of two hundred (200) adolescents from four senior secondary schools in Osogbo local government area of Osun State, Nigeria. A self-structured questionnaire titled Dominant Environment, Role Model and Entrepreneurial Intention (DERoMEi) with reliability index of 0.69 was adapted for the study. Data collected were analysed using the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) statistical method. The result confirmed that: entrepreneurial intentions of adolescents is favourably and positively influenced by the adolescents’ dominant environment (f=7.696, p<0.05); role model had no impact on entrepreneurial intention of students (f=2.523, p>0.05); gender sensitivity played a role in the prediction of entrepreneurial intentions of adolescents as males tended to conceive entrepreneurial intention more than females (f=15.596, p<0.05). Recommendations given included that: entrepreneurship engagement should be promoted in communities to encourage wider acceptability by adolescents; parents and care givers who are entrepreneurs should encourage their children to acquire entrepreneurial skills alongside their senior secondary school education; more female adolescents should be encouraged to venture into entrepreneurship despite their educational engagement in senior secondary schools.","PeriodicalId":105560,"journal":{"name":"Ousl Journal","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125609023","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The karmayoga, the yoga of action, postulates the theory of niskama karma, the action that disregards the results. Likewise, it also advocates for renunciation in action: performing actions without being mentally attached to them leads one to an ideal stage because what one thinks becomes one’s will. If the doer performs actions with craving or desires, the purity of action manipulates itself. When the doer rises above these binding factors of action, the banalities of the mundane world become puny. Then one realizes that the creation dwells within, and attains liberation, attaining reality in the whole integrated form. The karmayoga paves the path for the welfare of living beings. This philosophy of action finds its vibrations in the philosophical tenets of Spinoza and Bergson. To explore these concepts, this study implements the qualitative approach to research and exploratory methods. Likewise, Spinoza’s perspective of eternity and Bergson’s élan vital have been applied as the major theoretical lens to unravel the underlying contents and themes of karmayoga. The study opens new perspectives to understand the concepts of the karmayoga from new standpoints.","PeriodicalId":105560,"journal":{"name":"Ousl Journal","volume":"96 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124673627","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many genre analyses in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) have proposed move-step models or sequences of communicative functions (moves) and strategies used to predict those moves (steps) to help ESP learners to write professional letters. However, there is a paucity of move analysis of legal letters of demand though it is a frequently used genre by lawyers. Therefore, this study analyzed 30 authentic legal letters of demand, collected from 15 Sri Lankan lawyers to identify patterns in the genre organization. The Constructivist Grounded Theory methods were intersected with the move analysis to analyze emergent moves and steps. The results include a sequence of four obligatory moves (i.e., Opening, Stating Background Details, Stating the Cause of Action, Demanding), and an optional move (Closing), which were realized in 14 steps, and classified into obligatory, conventional and optional. The accuracy of the moves and steps generated were checked for consistency with two lawyers who were interviewed at two stages of coding the letters. The move-step model could be incorporated into teaching materials of legal letters of demand writing, to help novices learn the rhetorical structure and discursive practices associated with writing legal letters of demand. The model contributes to the body of knowledge of ESP genre analysis, move analysis and to the field of teaching English for Legal Purposes.","PeriodicalId":105560,"journal":{"name":"Ousl Journal","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127120900","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research was conducted through contextual analysis. Quantitative method research design was adopted. The samples for questionnaire survey were selected through random sampling method and to build up the conceptual framework for this study, interviews were conducted with the samples for the interviews selected through purposive sampling technique. A questionnaire was used as the data collection tool. The data collected were analyzed using the descriptive analyzing techniques: Frequency, Percentage, and Garrett Ranking Technique. The findings of the study indicate that the most dominant factors favoring achievement in Science were the target-oriented work of teachers and the use of appropriate learning-materials with the contribution of supervision, both external and internal, being at 8th and 10th in the Garrett Ranks. Furthermore, the factors such as time spent with students, scientifically well-planned zonal activities, continuous examinations, remedial activities, and motivated teachers were identified as secondary factors. Despite Science being a skill-oriented subject, the influence of laboratory work was also not considerable, as indicated by its Garrett Rank of 9. It is recommended that Science education in Sri Lanka be enhanced by specifically identifying the factors that are conducive to the development of Science achievement by conducting similar ground-level studies in the other districts.","PeriodicalId":105560,"journal":{"name":"Ousl Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130775671","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper aims to provide a content analysis on how the historical construction of the discourse of the SEEPS effectively addressed the issues - especially in the textual and historical construction found in a historical text titled The Cultural Roots of the Pesalai Society, authored by S.A. Miranda. The book narrates the arrival and operation of the Western Colonizers resulting in the consequent socio-political transformation in the local community, changes in religious, cultural, and national identities and the ultimate evolution of new changes in the SEEPS. This content analysis focuses on establishing the relationships between the social, political, and environmental systems in the historical discourse of the book and assessing the historiographical representation of the SEEPS and the controlling factors in constructing the history of the Pesalai village and the Mannar District. The text combines integrated SEEPS providing governance-centric, anthropocentric, and eco-centric perspectives, while a theocentric discourse dominates the text. The book presents the information chronologically and thematically. This paper assesses the author's historical construction to study the impacts of the human-nature interface and natural and human-made changes related to the village system comparable to the whole district. It reveals the challenges and the creation of hybrid and multiple-use social and environmental systems, the interaction of the societal relationships with nature, and the village systems aligned to the political and social systems. The discourse reveals an attempt at reconciling a perennial conflict or competition of sustainable SEEPS against each other.","PeriodicalId":105560,"journal":{"name":"Ousl Journal","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130856951","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
