It reviews different mathematical models explaining the behaviour of QD, and it proposes a novel method to predict the future article volumes on the topic of applications of QD. The paper also reviews the use of QD in quantum computing. The paper opted for a numerical approach to predict future article volumes. Firstly, bibliometric data for the past 40 years is collected and then by assuming a relationship between relevant variables, a governing equation is developed which is then solved using the Finite Difference Method (FDM). The paper provides insights into how a prediction model can be developed without using tons of metrics. It also suggests that a prediction model can be developed using only the past behaviour of the concerned dataset. Due to the chosen research approach, the effectiveness of the model may be less. Therefore, researchers are encouraged to test the proposed method further. The paper includes the practical implications of an easily analysed and executable model. The paper also shows that the model proposed can not only be used to predict future article volumes but also to predict datasets that exhibit a quasi-linear nature. This paper fulfils the need for a new, easier prediction method.","PeriodicalId":10501,"journal":{"name":"COLLNET Journal of Scientometrics and Information Management","volume":"16 1","pages":"187 - 213"},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43738893","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of the present study is to identify the global research trends of the applications of microfluidics in food analysis and processing. The data mining was performed using the search keywords “Microfluidics OR microfluidic” AND food (TITLE-ABS-KEY) which resulted in 745 documents after the evaluation and filtration for relevant documents based on the Scopus database. Out of this, 478 (64.16 %) were articles, 140 (18.8 %) were review papers, conference papers (95, 12.75 %), book chapters (26, 3.49 %), and others (6, 0.8 %). The record indicated that the first document in food microfluidics was published in 2003. It was observed that 72.08 % of the documents have been published in the last 6 years (20152020). China and the United States were the most productive countries in food microfluidics research during the period of assessment. Purdue University was the leading organization with 31 documents and 816 total citations. Yanbin Li was found to be the most prolific author with 20 publications. The analysis demonstrated that Biosensors and Bioelectronics and Lab on a Chip were the most active journals in terms of the number of publications and citations, respectively. This study showed that the application of microfluidics in the food sector is relatively new and the field is still in the developing stage. It is anticipated that intensive research activities will be carried out worldwide.","PeriodicalId":10501,"journal":{"name":"COLLNET Journal of Scientometrics and Information Management","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"59521756","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present work illustrates a formula to quantify the predicted correlation between a composite indicator and a primary indicator (i.e., the composite indicator can be expressed as a weighted sum of the primary indicator), for example. Total citations received and number of self-citations or total publications and number of first-authorship publications, for example, represent such variable pairs. However, predicted correlation has a far wider range of potential applications in scientometrics. It is demonstrated that the predicted correlation provides a useful reference that allows a more conclusive interpretation of the data. Ignoring the outlined approach can result in overlooking of robust correlational patterns in the data. This is illustrated by a small simulation and two illustrations based on re-analyses of previous work. The approach can be used in new studies to understand the complete correlational pattern. In addition, the outlined approach can be used to revisit past findings reported in journal articles.","PeriodicalId":10501,"journal":{"name":"COLLNET Journal of Scientometrics and Information Management","volume":"16 1","pages":"7 - 18"},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48732195","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to map the co-authorship, co-occurrence, citation, bibliographic coupling, co-citation, and co-occurrence. The tools used for bibliometric data analysis were HistCite, “HistCite is a software package used for bibliometric analysis and information visualization, developed by Eugene Garfield” and VOSviewer, a software package for bibliometric networking and visualization. An underlying corpus of publications was extracted from the Science Citation Index Expanded database (SCI-EXPANDED, SSCI, A&HCI) through relevant keywords. Lexical search in the titles has identified 7037 relevant articles for the period 1996-2020. Only articles of the document type “article” were taken into consideration. The study found that “JOURNAL OF NANOPARTICLE RESEARCH” was the leading journal having maximum records/articles 83 with total global citations (TGCS) 2684. Similarly, among authors “Roco MC” was ranked at first in terms of several articles contributed 8 records with TGCS 495 but on the other hand, the highest cited articles were found by “Farokhzad OC” TGCS 893 “Langer R” TGCS 893 “Shi JJ” TGCS 893 and “Votruba AR” TGCS 893. Moreover, in institution ranking MIT was ranked the first rank followed by Harvard. This study is helpful for any researcher of Nanotechnology, Bibliometrics, Scientometrics and Information Sciences to understand research trends, scholarly output in terms of production, impact and collaboration.","PeriodicalId":10501,"journal":{"name":"COLLNET Journal of Scientometrics and Information Management","volume":"15 1","pages":"445 - 467"},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42068842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper applies the bibliometric methodology, utilizes the data retrieved from Scopus database from 2002 to 2020, and visualizes the data using VOSviewer. The study recovered 295 articles written by authors across nations who are focusing on the topic of corruption in procurement. From the results, it can be seen that the most influential article is the article entitled ‘Corruption and Competition in Procurement’ written by Celentani and Ganuza. In addition, the influential author is Mihaly Fazekas; he has written 14 articles and has 166 citations. From the research topic, the countries that are mostly discussed are underdeveloped and developing countries. By identifying the keywords’ network, this study found that a large volume of research area on this topic still revolves around macro factors, such as crime, transparency and e-procurement. Hence, this study encourages the scholar to further examine corruption behavior (in organizational and individual behavior) and to enhance research concerning the latest innovation on procurement ecosystem.","PeriodicalId":10501,"journal":{"name":"COLLNET Journal of Scientometrics and Information Management","volume":"15 1","pages":"397 - 412"},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46543635","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its assessment is based on the analysis of applicable indicators regarding research publications, preparation of doctoral students, project activity - national and international, participation in networks, impact of the quality of research on funding, patents, and innovative environment. Main regulative papers and assessment bodies are considered. Most of the indicators are extracted and analyzed on the basis of statistics, benchmarking and correlative methodology. The figures and the trends are from reliable sources. The conclusions are that despite the different influence on certain parameters of the scientific system, the impact of research is positive and mostly useful in the development and improvement of the overall capacity of the Bulgarian Research System.","PeriodicalId":10501,"journal":{"name":"COLLNET Journal of Scientometrics and Information Management","volume":"15 1","pages":"341 - 364"},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42542930","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One research topic of bibliometrics is science mapping, which examines scientific objects to determine the cognitive structure, development, and acting persons. With CiteSpace and VOSviewer two of the most popular visualization tools are compared. The evaluation of the software solutions is carried out in two steps, the first step is a purely software technical evaluation based on the framework of Jadhav and Sonar (2011). In addition to functional similarities and differences between the tools, qualitative and technical aspects are examined. Both CiteSpace and VOSviewer, share a large number of bibliometric functionalities, which are each extended by additional functions. They use different algorithms for normalization, mapping and clustering. In the second part, on the basis of own case studies, in which selected bibliometric analyses (Co-Occurrence-, Co-Citation- and Co-Authorship- analyses) are carried out, the workflow of solving a given task with these tools is analyzed and the results are evaluated. Both tools support the steps of a science mapping process, which consists of the phases of data retrieval, preprocessing, network extraction, normalization, mapping, analysis, visualization and interpretation. As a result, can be noted that visualizations created with VOSviewer have better clarity and user-friendliness. CiteSpace, on the other hand, offers advantages in the evaluative analysis of network visualizations, e.g. by enabling analysis of the cluster nodes using a Cluster Explorer.","PeriodicalId":10501,"journal":{"name":"COLLNET Journal of Scientometrics and Information Management","volume":"15 1","pages":"365 - 396"},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46099969","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
