Materials and Methods: Twenty patients (10 in each group) with mild to moderate crowding, requiring orthodontic treatment with full set of permanent teeth except for third molars, were chosen for this study. A total of 400 brackets were used for both groups. Similar bracket type and bonding material was used for both groups. The accuracy of bracket transfer was evaluated using GOM software. Results: pre-transfer and post-transfer bracket positions showing that both transfer methods were accurate in reproducing the pretransfer bracket position onto the patient’s dentition in vivo at a clinically acceptable level, however sectional computer aided tray revealed better results as there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups in all dimensions (p<0.001) except occlusogingival dimension (p>0.05). Conclusions: Both Computer-aided indirect bonding transfer methods can be used with confidence as it is accurate and within the clinically accepted limits. Sectional computer aided indirect bonding method revealed better results in all dimensions as it had better control, better tray seating and more accurate transfer and can be used in cases with mild crowding. Although transfer errors were mainly in occlusogingival dimension towards gingival and in buccolingual towards buccal direction, still errors were within clinically acceptable limits.","PeriodicalId":104867,"journal":{"name":"Ain Shams Dental Journal","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135782019","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Materials and methods : Patients were selected according to certain inclusion and exclusion criteria. The selected patients were divided into three equal groups: Group (I): Patients in this group were rehabilitated with a conventional removable partial denture. Group (II): Patients in this group were rehabilitated with an implant assisted partial denture, with implant positioned at the first molar position. Group (III): Patients in this group were rehabilitated with an implant assisted partial denture with implant positioned at the second molar position . T-scan system was used for assessment and adjustment of occlusion. Results: Comparing the three studied groups, a significant increase in the calculated occlusal load was detected in group I compared to group II and group III throughout the study period P < 0.03. However, insignificant difference was detected comparing group II and group III together P > 0.03. Although there was a significant difference between the conventional partial denture and implant supported partial over denture regarding time and force distribution, there was very little difference between group II and group III. Change in implant position had little effect on masticatory efficiency and can be regarded insignificant. Conclusion: Partial denture retained by two Osseo integrated implants one on each side of the lower arch showed better effect on the distribution of occlusal load compared by conventional partial dentures. Changing implant position from first mandibular molar to second mandibular molar had no significant effect on the occlusal load analysis using T-Scan system.","PeriodicalId":104867,"journal":{"name":"Ain Shams Dental Journal","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135737015","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Materials & Methods: Thirty male Albino rats were divided into three groups (n =10): Control group (GC): received no treatment, Irradiated group (GI): received a single radiation dose of 10 Gray on the head and neck region, Deferoxamine group (GD): rats received intraperitoneal injection of 50 mg/kg of Deferoxamine for three days before being irradiated like in GI. Rats were sacrificed the 12th day post-irradiation. Their tongues were dissected and processed for H&E staining and immunohistochemical detection of VEGF, the angiogenic marker. Results: Examination of GI revealed an apparent reduction in the thickness of the epithelium and some ulcerative areas. In the lamina propria, dilated engorged blood vessels and degenerative areas were detected. GI showed VEGF immunopositivity in the epithelial layers as well as in the endothelial and connective tissue cells of the lamina propria. VEGF immunopositivity was statistically reduced when compared with GC. GD showed an apparent increase in the epithelium thickness with restoration of epithelial integrity and minimal degeneration of the lamina propria. GD presented marked VEGF immunostaining with a statistically significant increase compared to GI. Conclusion: The findings of this study showed that Deferoxamine exerted a protective effect against radiation-induced oral mucositis with possible association of VEGF overexpression in reduction of mucositis histopathological damage.","PeriodicalId":104867,"journal":{"name":"Ain Shams Dental Journal","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135737562","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Aim: The aim of this study is to compare between i-CAT classic (Imaging Sciences International, Hatfield, PA, USA) and Veraviewepocs 3D (J–MORITA, Kyoto, Jaban) CBCT systems in detection accuracy of MB2 canals in maxillary molars. Materials and methods: 100 human MMs were collected mounted in the molar sockets of the skull and fixed by 3 layers of modeling wax. Teeth were scanned by 2 CBCT systems, the i-CAT and Verviewepocs 3D. Results: From 100 MMs, MB2 was detected in the MB roots of 85 molars (85%). At the orifice level of MB roots, MB2 was detected in about 64 molars (64%). In the middle of the root, MB2 was detected in about 79 molars (79%). At the apex level, MB2 was detected in about 39 molars (39%). The differences between both CBCT systems were small & statistically non-significant. All the kappa coefficients were interpreted as adequate to good agreement. Conclusion: The i-CAT and J-MORITA CBCT systems are reliable tools for MB2 canal detection in MMs when compared to gold standard sectioning technique and there is no significant statistical difference between them. The coding classification is simple, accurate and practical. MB2 is more prevalent in the middle of the root than the orifice level than the apex level.
