The findings revealed that it was their BA syllabus that contributed to their poor grasp of sports vocabulary in the context of the English language given that they were subjected to General English (GE) only. Unfortunately, their first contact with English for sports was in their first year of MA studies. Although the ESP course was only one semester, it had a positive impact on students’ advancement. Moreover, students deemed ESP as a great way of building up their personality as sportsmen, given that it facilitated their way of approaching sports science with greater enthusiasm and effort.","PeriodicalId":104100,"journal":{"name":"Research & Investigations in Sports Medicine","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124514948","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although the diagnosis of LET is simple, the ideal management for the rehabilitation of LET does not exist. A conservative approach is advocated by many physicians. Therefore, physical therapy is usually recommended. A plethora of physiotherapy modalities has been recommended for the management of LET such as heavy-slow resistance exercise, manual techniques, physical agents, external support and soft tissue manipulation. Such a plethora of techniques suggests that the ideal management strategy is unknown, and further research is required to find the most effective treatment strategy in LET patients. The question that arises is why the optimal treatment of LET is still unknown, symptoms may persist for many months and recurrence is common. One possible answer is that should be used new techniques to improve patients’ symptoms (pain, strength, and function). Lately, the use of low-intensity resistance training in combination with blood flow restriction (BFR) has been advocated as a clinically relevant rehabilitation tool for patients with tendinopathies such as LET. I wondered if low-intensity resistance training in combination with BFR could be an effective treatment approach in the rehabilitation of LET, thus the literature was searched. An electronic search for clinical studies was carried out in six databases: Medline (from 1966 to March 2020), Embase (from 1988 to March 2020), Cinahl (from 1982 to March 2020), Index to Chiropractic literature (from 1992 to March 2020) SportDiscus (from 1990 to March 2020) and Chirolars (from 1994 to March 2020). A search took a very broad approach in order to capture all published material from any source including any clinical study, review, and letters to editors of journals. The following key words were used individually or in various combinations: ‘‘lateral elbow tendinopathy,’’ ‘‘tennis elbow,’’ ‘‘lateral epicondylitis,’’ ‘‘lateral epicondylalgia,’’ ‘‘extensor tendinopathy,’’ ‘‘extensor tendonitis,’’ ‘‘extensor tendinosis,’’ ‘‘rehabilitation,’’ ‘‘treatment,’’ ‘‘management,’’ ‘‘protocol,’’ ‘‘optimal protocol,’’ ‘‘blood flow restriction,’’ occlusion,’’ ‘‘strength training,’’ training,’’ ‘‘exercise training’’ were considered. were to identify reviews, and other papers in the publications Additional were from the sections of papers that were retrieved, from contacting in the field, the Collaboration clinical trial register (last 2020) and from internet sites related to BFR. The creatinine load phase brings about an increase in body weight by 0.5-1.5 kg, which is mainly related to water retention as intra and extracellular. In a male weighing 70 kg, the total creatinine is estimated to be 120g, oscillating from 90160mg. Turnover (daily loss) is about 1.5%, which corresponds to about 2 g per day. This loss is replaced by both endogenous synthesis (in the liver, pancreas, kidney) starting from glycine and arginine (and methionine) as well as from the diet, mainly meat and fish. In vegetarians, the daily loss of creatinine is replaced by endogenous site-dependent regulated food.","PeriodicalId":104100,"journal":{"name":"Research & Investigations in Sports Medicine","volume":"190 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121855269","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to the convenience and flexibility of this sport, it has become a globally favorite exercise for people who are confined at home due to COVID-19 outbreak. Unlike common misperceptions about table tennis being a light exercise, it is a fast sport with quick physical movement, posture changes, and even body rotations, which can easily get players injured. Particularly, people are prone to injuries in a home environment that often does not fully meet the standard of playing conditions. Common injuries caused by playing this sport are around the wrist, waist, knee, and shoulder areas. In this article, illustrations and discussed are centered on injury prevention, analysis, and therapeutic care. Cautious preparations in advance, both physically and environmentally, can effectively prevent much of the injuries.","PeriodicalId":104100,"journal":{"name":"Research & Investigations in Sports Medicine","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124521983","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Forward and backward skating may appear to be similar, but the body joint movements may be substantially different. The mechanics of backward skating is not well understood in comparison to the forward skating. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to examine the kinematic differences between forward and backward skating. Seven male collegiate ice hockey players participated in the study, and they skated both forward and backward (C-cut) four times each on the ice at their highest intensity from one end of the goal line to the other end of the goal line on the ice. A standard two-dimensional kinematic analysis was conducted to examine the lower body extremity and trunk at the instants of weight acceptance and propulsion. No significant differences in the joint angles were found at the weight acceptance. At propul -sion, significant differences were found in the joint angles of hip, knee, ankle and trunk between forward and backward skating. Additionally, the hip angular velocity was significantly different in both the weight acceptance and the propulsion phases. Hence, these findings indicate the importance of understanding mechanical difference between forward and backward skating for developing coaching instruction and prescribe strength and conditioning programs. Future studies are warranted to examine the mechanics of forward and backward skating using a 3D analysis and also on different positional players.","PeriodicalId":104100,"journal":{"name":"Research & Investigations in Sports Medicine","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133117440","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By using various means of suction, cupping therapy is employed by clinicians around the world for the purpose of improving blood flow, decreasing pain, increasing range of motion, and increasing function [2-4]. In the 21st century, cupping therapy has grown in popularity in the United States and other countries where Western Medicine is practiced [1]. A large amount of this popularity is likely due to increased media interest resulting from elite level athletes receiving cupping therapy [5,6]. Although cupping therapy has increased in popularity as a treatment option in the United States, there is still no consensus on the ideal parameters for prescribing and applying cupping therapy to either amateur or professional athletes [1]. This lack of consensus can be attributed in part to a lack of high quality studies and a lack of standardized methodology [4,7]. Another potential factor may be skepticism of Eastern Medicine practices in countries that practice primarily Western Medicine [7].","PeriodicalId":104100,"journal":{"name":"Research & Investigations in Sports Medicine","volume":"116 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128696791","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
