Lois-González","doi":"10.4067/s0718-34022021000200279","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.4067/s0718-34022021000200279","url":null,"abstract":"For some decades, there has been agreement on the need to deepen studies on the cul- tural and scientific relations between the old European metropolises and their former co-lonies. For this reason, it was necessary to carry out a first review of how Spanish acade- mic geography has approached the Latin American question. Which authors have tried to study it, from which theories and works focused on territorial analysis. In this approach, two ways in which Spanish geographers have approached Latin America are discovered: the first, through general discourses ranging from paternalism, the justification of the colonial period or the denunciation of the plundering of the riches of the territories; the second, from a direct experience in some Latin American countries and universities. The resulting interpretations have been highly conditioned by the different stages that the recent history of Spain has gone through. In recent times, they respond to an economic interest in projecting a friendly image of the former colonial power, home to important multinational companies interested in the transatlantic business. Contreras","doi":"10.4067/s0718-34022021000200009","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.4067/s0718-34022021000200009","url":null,"abstract":"The article reviews the social sciences’ bibliography on the migrant experience of Bolivian women in the Chilean territories bordering the Andean Triple-border-Area (between Bolivia, Chile and Peru), emphasizing the studies carried out in the Chilean Region of Arica and Parinacota. We start by situating and describing the Chilean territory of the Andean Triple-border-Area. We also discuss how the processes of historical formation of its borders have played a central role in the institutionalization of patterns of gender violence. Then, we discuss the Bolivian women’s mobilities and the economic flows that characterize them. We also synthesized the studies on the Bolivian Aymara presence in the agricultural valleys of the city of Arica, the findings of the studies on the experience of gender violence by the Aymara migrants, and on the transnational and cross-border chains of care. ABSTRACT The irrigation cooling effect, given its influence on the land surface temperature (TS), is one of the regulating ecosystem services of agrarian ecosystems. In irrigated agriculture of warm areas, this service plays an important role in cushioning extremes of tempe- rature. The objective of this work is to quantify and determine the factors that explain the behavior of TS in irrigated areas, using as a case study the agroecosystem of citrus cultivation in irrigation of Campo de Cartagena (Murcia, Spain). First, it demonstrates the influence of irrigation on the TS of the area. Subsequently, the value of the TS in the irrigation is explained by a model that relates the same to the vegetation index, the water content of the crop and the distance to the coast.
