Connective tissue diseases like systemic sclerosis, dermatomyositis and systemic lupus erythematosus may be associated with secondary telangiectasias. Systemic sclerosis presents with mat-like telangiectasias over face, hands and rarely oral mucosa.  The present study discusses a case of extensive oral telangiectasias without significant sclerosis over face.","PeriodicalId":102906,"journal":{"name":"Internet Journal of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130473302","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to constant pressure on the clinician to prove his/ her efficiency, the core elements in assessment of pain are often overlooked. The pain has been considered as the ‘fifth vital sign’. A variety of pain assessment scales are available for evaluating the intensity of acute and chronic pain. Under or over-assessment of pain often lead to errors in pain management. This is mainly due to proceeding with the treatment plan without a proper clinical history collection and clinical examination. This compromises the patient’s opportunity to obtain optimum pain relief. The current review provides an overview on the pain assessment tools used in musculoskeletal pain assessment, and to assist clinicians and researchers in selecting the pain assessment methods best suited to serve their purposes.","PeriodicalId":102906,"journal":{"name":"Internet Journal of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology","volume":"30 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133114105","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The disease etiology is unknown. Various therapies have been investigated like the use of corticosteroids, IVIg (intravenous immunoglobulin), plasmapheresis, and thalidomide. The disorder being rare, evidence from controlled therapeutic trials is very limited. This report describes the case of a 37-year-old male with progressive scleromyxedema, without gammopathy. The patient was treated with prednisolone followed by IVIg. He showed remarkable improvement initially. Subsequent treatment with lenalidomide for one year showed complete resolution of the skin lesions with no side effects of the therapy.","PeriodicalId":102906,"journal":{"name":"Internet Journal of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131345113","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
