Wearable sensor based patient health monitoring is prevalent in healthcare industry. These monitoring systems are usually confined to hospital buildings or a comparable area. In this paper we present a solution that aims to expand patient monitoring over a wider area such as a remote village or town. The force behind this is that remote places usually lack proper health care facilities and good doctors to treat various diseases. The patients could be scattered in various places including hilly terrain, where doctors' frequent availability is not practicable. This issue has been addressed in this paper by the design and implementation of an Adhoc sensor network based solution The proposed technique is intended specifically for remote rural areas where the infrastructural facilities such as the internet, GSM/GPRS etc are not available. The patients can be monitored for various health parameters like pulse rate, level of insulin, blood pressure et al.","PeriodicalId":102808,"journal":{"name":"ICIMU 2011 : Proceedings of the 5th international Conference on Information Technology & Multimedia","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131439845","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Under modal excitation, three important parameters namely natural frequency, damping ratio and mode shape associated with the structural properties are acquired. These modal parameters are used as the extracted features for classification on artificial neural network. This paper presents an experimental investigation of two different kinds of materials by implementation of modal analysis along with the integration of neural network for materials classification. The experimental modal analysis is done using the LMS instruments and software where Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and Frequency Response Function (FRF) are used to extract the mentioned modal parameters. The extracted parameters are used as the classification process feature of the neural network. Multi-layer Perceptron (MLP) is used as the mapping model of the network. The technique adopted for the system is the Levenberg-Marquadt (LM) and Scaled Conjugate Gradient (SCG) Backpropagation technique.","PeriodicalId":102808,"journal":{"name":"ICIMU 2011 : Proceedings of the 5th international Conference on Information Technology & Multimedia","volume":"115 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124250674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The framework provides coordinated visualization of the database structure and of various implicit relationships among its relations. The main objective of this paper is to report an extended version of the experimental evaluation which aimed at complimenting the previously reported pilot evaluation on the usefulness of the visual framework in understanding various associations among relations. Results obtained from the extended evaluation reported in this paper also seemed to suggest that the visual features provided by the prototype system offer a high level of help to users in instantly recognizing indirect associations, such as path views, among relations.","PeriodicalId":102808,"journal":{"name":"ICIMU 2011 : Proceedings of the 5th international Conference on Information Technology & Multimedia","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124358817","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Approaches included building intelligent search algorithms to find the required solutions in such board games by searching through the solutions space stochastically. Recently, one particular type of search algorithm has been receiving a lot of interest in solving such kinds of game problems, which is the multi-objective evolutionary algorithms (MOEAs). Unlike single-objective optimization based search algorithms, MOEAs are able to find a set of non-dominated solutions which trades-off among all the conflicting objectives. In this study, the utilization of a multi-objective approach in evolving ANNs for Go game is investigated. A simple three layered feed-forward ANN is used and evolved with Pareto Archived Evolution Strategies (PAES) for computer players to learn and play the small board Go games.","PeriodicalId":102808,"journal":{"name":"ICIMU 2011 : Proceedings of the 5th international Conference on Information Technology & Multimedia","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129645462","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Shape representation is one of the major problems in content-based image retrieval (CBIR). Shape representation generally looks for effective ways to capture the essence of the shape features that make it easier for shapes to be stored, recognized, compared against, and retrieved. In this paper, we shall present a structural shape representation and description technique, where object shape is represented at multiple levels of abstraction. This technique has been implemented in order to analyze its retrieval accuracy, the performance evaluation showed very remarkable and promising results.","PeriodicalId":102808,"journal":{"name":"ICIMU 2011 : Proceedings of the 5th international Conference on Information Technology & Multimedia","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128786318","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a consequence, end users often experience poor response time or denial of service. A cluster of multiple servers that behaves like a single host can be used to improve the throughput and alleviate the server bottlenecks. To achieve such a cluster, we need robust routing algorithms that provide scalability, effective load balancing and high availability in a constantly changing environment. Due to an ever-increasing diversity of workloads and cluster configurations, it is very difficult to propose a single algorithm that performs best under all conditions. In this paper, we review a number of proposed load balancing algorithms for clusters of web servers. We focus on an experimental analysis of the performance under a number of well-known load balancing algorithms. We study the performance of the algorithms through a simulation to evaluate their performance under different conditions and workloads. The results of our study are reported in the paper.","PeriodicalId":102808,"journal":{"name":"ICIMU 2011 : Proceedings of the 5th international Conference on Information Technology & Multimedia","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121384388","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The reason for this undertaking is increasing awareness of the capability and handiness of task models to picture the functionalities of a system (as awaited by customers), but also the lack of expressive power of UML use case diagrams, when underspecified, to make the functionalities of a system fully understandable to software developers. The described method builds on a task modelling software, a plugin transforming task models into use case diagrams and use case descriptions, and a UML software enabling to display use case diagrams. The plugin puts a set of rules interpreting the content of task models at work, in order to generate an XML file readable by the UML software, and a ready-to-use PDF output containing the use case descriptions. The advantages of this workflow are to enforce the link between the different project stakeholders (customer, architect, developers), to allow for cost-free iterations affecting the requirement scheme, to enable usable incremental modelling and to introduce interface design into the first step of the design process.","PeriodicalId":102808,"journal":{"name":"ICIMU 2011 : Proceedings of the 5th international Conference on Information Technology & Multimedia","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116477093","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the help of a computerized system, the diagnosis time can be shortened. In this paper, we proposed a method of detecting the layer of muscularis mucosae in the colon biopsy tissue image. By using RGB color information, we analyzed 65 images and preserved a specific range of color and evaluated the density of the preserved colour. A separation line is drawn to distinguish the layers. The result shows that by using the proposed method, layer of muscularis mucosae are detected with about 84% accuracy. The output of this detection is highly important as supporting evidence in the colon cancer cells image detection.","PeriodicalId":102808,"journal":{"name":"ICIMU 2011 : Proceedings of the 5th international Conference on Information Technology & Multimedia","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131041815","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system is built to be portable among embedded devices capable of running Java and has been intended to be used specifically on mobile phones. The mobile phone market has grown to a point where these kinds of applications are more likely to be used rather than dedicated global positioning systems (GPS). Therefore we are detailing the basics of a novel positioning system with added security by incorporating AES security during the transmission of the GPS data. The key is a function of the IMEI which is a unique code specific to every mobile phone in the market therefore adding the system a unique feature with respect to other common approaches. The geo-fencing also has been added to improve the usability of the system for clients that are needed to be tracked more closely.","PeriodicalId":102808,"journal":{"name":"ICIMU 2011 : Proceedings of the 5th international Conference on Information Technology & Multimedia","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125112175","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
