Channel state information (CSI) is required at the receiver in order to calculate the optimum decoding matrix. Using training sequence, channel property can be calculated using channel estimation technique such as least square (LS) or minimum mean square error (MMSE). The accuracy of those techniques is limited by the number of training sequence that is used for channel estimation. In this paper, we suggest that instead of just using the training sequence only, the entire transmitted symbols can be used for channel estimation. In order to do that the channel property will be estimated twice before the desired data is decoded. The proposed method has higher accuracy of estimation compared to conventional method.","PeriodicalId":102808,"journal":{"name":"ICIMU 2011 : Proceedings of the 5th international Conference on Information Technology & Multimedia","volume":"255 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121295904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The disability of the patient to recognize color is potential to cause problems to the patient in daily life or in more specific area. To help the patient cope with problem in recognizing colors, a color blindness helping system is designed. This system is designed for embedded system and Windows Phone 7 using the concept of augmented reality. In this work, we have implemented an integrated color detection module integrated in color blind aid system in the form of application for embedded system and mobile application. Testing result on embedded system shows that the module is able to detect the color samples with the percentage of 69.33% using Hue Saturation Value (HSV) color model, and 90.67% using Hue Lightness Saturation (HLS) color model in a bright and ideal lighting condition. Testing on mobile application shows that the module is able to detect color samples with percentage of 11.33% using Red Green Blue (RGB) color model and 95.33% using HLS color model in a bright and ideal lighting condition.","PeriodicalId":102808,"journal":{"name":"ICIMU 2011 : Proceedings of the 5th international Conference on Information Technology & Multimedia","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126578652","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Decision tree is a tree based classification, widely used in data mining, which classifies the input data set into predefined classes. Decision tree approach is used here to train the image understanding system to perform supervised machine learning. The various low level characteristic features (color, shape, texture) of the image form the various attributes of the decision tree among others. This paper presents the application of the decision tree approach for image understanding. It also discusses an algorithm to calculate the relative distance between the retrieved results, as a sub process required in the proposed approach. The paper describes the production rules required to generate the decision tree. An example study is used to describe the image understanding process in a descriptive manner.","PeriodicalId":102808,"journal":{"name":"ICIMU 2011 : Proceedings of the 5th international Conference on Information Technology & Multimedia","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125950053","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Software development organizations realize the importance of using best practices to improve software development practices. An increasing number of literature have described about process improvement best practices and standards. Formal process improvement frameworks have emerged widely to promote the use of systematic processes for software engineering. These approaches identify best practices for managing software engineering quality. They provide methods for assessing an organization's process maturity level and capability. In this article, recent process improvement best practices and standards are presented. Its objective is to analyze the existing approaches towards software process improvement initiatives. Another objective is to determine the issues related to adoption of process improvement and standards. The research outcome is to obtain the significant process improvement issues and formulate a classification of generic steps for process improvements.","PeriodicalId":102808,"journal":{"name":"ICIMU 2011 : Proceedings of the 5th international Conference on Information Technology & Multimedia","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130397690","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problem is caused of simulators are limited due to environmental, and it is obstacle to interchange the data. Therefore, intermediate standard data format was required to interchange environmental data to solve the problem. SEDRIS were intent to be developed the standard intermediate format. SEDRIS provide a standard interchange mechanism to distribute environmental data and promotes reusability of the data. SEDRIS are broad enough to represent all environmental things, but also complicated to use for constructing environmental structure. Interchange via SEDRIS require converters between SEDRIS transmittal format(STF) and others. This study addresses converting and verifying process from NetCDF, which has time-dependent grid environmental structure to STF. In addition, this study suggests efficient DRM structure for time-dependent grid environmental data.","PeriodicalId":102808,"journal":{"name":"ICIMU 2011 : Proceedings of the 5th international Conference on Information Technology & Multimedia","volume":"145 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133645724","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Conventional Computing Platform (CCP) is deficient of platform trust that raises security concerns such as ‘phishing’ attacks. The Trusted Computing Group (TCG) took an initiative to tackle security and trust anxieties in OE via Trusted Platform Module (TPM) and Remote Attestation (RA). However, the current RA technique has its own limitation i.e. missing of Mutual Attestation (MA) and platform privacy fears in OE. The Federated Single Sign-on (FSSO) scheme such as Shibboleth allows its users to access a resource across domains in a privacy preserving manner but what is still missing; it is the mutual platform trust establishment among client and Identity Provider (IdP) platforms in OE. In this paper, we embrace MA technique and integrated in Shibboleth with UserName (UN) to guarantee user is a legitimate owner of UN but also his/her and home domain IdP platform mutually authenticated. Hence, we achieves (a) strong security with two factor authentication i.e. UN and mutual attestation, (b) mutual platform trust establishment between the client and IdP machines, and (c) resource access in privacy protecting manner. We practicality demonstrate unified STP Framework notion for FSSO environment by Testbed prototype implementation that confirms productivity and scalability of our approach.","PeriodicalId":102808,"journal":{"name":"ICIMU 2011 : Proceedings of the 5th international Conference on Information Technology & Multimedia","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125854551","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, storage nodes will become bottlenecks when the amount of events and queries targeted for a particular node is more than its capacity. This paper proposes a novel approach that brings load-balancing and scalability to the network as well as its ability to adapt itself to network conditions. This adaptability is made possible through a load-control mechanism provided by two thresholds which are responsible for changing hierarchy depth and the number of storage replicas as the frequency of events fluctuates in the network. Thus, the proposed method will not only reduce storage cost when the event frequency is high but also prevents hotspot problem in the root storage node. Moreover, it will reduce query traffic by merging replica nodes as the event frequency goes back to its normal state. Also, a simulator based on discrete-event system simulation methodology is developed to evaluate the proposed method on the basis of storage traffic, query traffic and the number of dead sensors. The result of evaluation shows that the proposed method has performance improvement over other compared methods.","PeriodicalId":102808,"journal":{"name":"ICIMU 2011 : Proceedings of the 5th international Conference on Information Technology & Multimedia","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127908749","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
