It however opens ups debates on whether such graphic narratives is usable as well as effective for transferring knowledge. Researchers in Human-Computer Interaction field argue that this kind of media enables the absorption of previous knowledge in the story presented and can suggest new knowledge to the user. However, not designing DGN based on a solid model will continue to bring prejudice for this media. This paper focuses specifically on cognitive processes of constructing a conceptual DGN model of an explanatory type. Utilising action research cycle, Rigaud's unsupervised framework of DGN, Kane's educational graphic narrative model, Hughes's dual pathways model, and Cohn's visual graphics narrative model were examined and analysed to extract variables that can explain DGN semantics. The analysis revealed that the unsupervised framework can be extracted to improve newer model. We thus enhance Kane's educational graphic narrative model in order to translate the knowledge into a target system. Expert evaluation was carried out on the enhanced model. The evaluation results provide positive insights specifically on idealising assumptions and viability of the model. We then proposed the final premise where visual narrative comprehends the meanings of sequential images characterised by order and timing delivered in the storytelling strategised by graphic narrative and graphic text consisting of images, content and print texts in the knowledge base. This premise of the model serves as one of the principle instruments of modern science, with specific contribution to the development of usable DGNs. The model contains rational attributes to be used as a foundation for DGN design and development.","PeriodicalId":102480,"journal":{"name":"2017 8th International Conference on Information Technology (ICIT)","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133273649","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we analyze the user access to online news using different kinds of devices, either through desktop or mobile device in terms of different days and different hours. Then, we examine the user access using Facebook referrals and finally we investigate the different types of content pages accessed by users from Facebook referral. We collect Web server logs from an online newspaper for 20-days period (19 November 2016–8 December 2016). We found that almost half of the pages from Facebook referral accessed through mobile device. In terms of type of device for Facebook referrals, there is a strong correlation between the types of devices. For contents accessed by Facebook referrals, popular pages are articles as compared to the main page of the news site.","PeriodicalId":102480,"journal":{"name":"2017 8th International Conference on Information Technology (ICIT)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121422210","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It enables these devices to collect and exchange data. Besides, IoT has now a wide range of life applications such as industry, transportation, logistics, healthcare, smart environment, as well as personal, social gaming robot, and city information. Smart devices can have wired or wireless connection. As far as the wireless IoT is the main concern, many different wireless communication technologies and protocols can be used to connect the smart device such as Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6), over Low power Wireless Personal Area Networks (6LoWPAN), ZigBee, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Z-Wave and Near Field Communication (NFC). They are short range standard network protocols, while SigFox and Cellular are Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN).standard protocols. This paper will be an attempt to review different communication protocols in IoT. In addition, it will compare between commonly IoT communication protocols, with an emphasis on the main features and behaviors of various metrics of power consumption security spreading data rate, and other features. This comparison aims at presenting guidelines for the researchers to be able to select the right protocol for different applications.","PeriodicalId":102480,"journal":{"name":"2017 8th International Conference on Information Technology (ICIT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128947326","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The testing of these substances is a tedious and painstaking process, carried out manually by trained experts who determine whether the embryos have been deformed or killed as a result of administering the chemical. This paper proposes a novel automatic system for the detection and classification of abnormal curvature of the zebrafish larvae tail (up or down) using a number of geometric features. The most important part of this system is the feature extraction technique, which is done depending on the shape of the tail by applying several arithmetic equations. The proposed system also addresses the orientation problem of the embryos, is part of a larger system for the classification of multiple classes of malformations, and demonstrated a high performance compared to published automated techniques.","PeriodicalId":102480,"journal":{"name":"2017 8th International Conference on Information Technology (ICIT)","volume":"116 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124138401","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore there is need for software practitioners to adopt sustainable practices in software development process. Sustainable practices can be adopted when software practitioners utilizes software which can bring about the lessening of electricity usage and decrease of CO2 emission. Software practitioners' adoption of sustainable practices is no doubt beneficial to humanity. Therefore sustainable practice adoption can be an attempt for software practitioners to tackle the current climatic problem and also increase economic gains of software organizations. At the moment existing sustainable approaches mainly focus on achieving sustainability when software practitioners develop software. Thus this paper contributes to sustainability research by presenting a model that offers an understanding of how software practitioners can adopt sustainable practices when they utilize software applications in software development process. Findings from this paper show how Green practices can be diffused by software practitioners when they utilize software application in software organizations.","PeriodicalId":102480,"journal":{"name":"2017 8th International Conference on Information Technology (ICIT)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125337315","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study contributes in filling this research gap by (i) consolidating the key issues and concerns and confirming their importance to Facebook users, (ii) examining the relative importance ranking of these issues and concerns, and (iii) answering the question of why people keep using Facebook despite of all the concerns and issues. To fulfil the requirements of the examination, a mixed method research approach was carried out. A Web-based questionnaire was first rolled out on Facebook to solicit the needed responses from its users. The analysis results statistically verified the importance of all the issues and concerns albeit being perceived differently in importance. Privacy concerns were rated the highest among all the issues, whereas issues related to the design aspects were rated the lowest. An open-ended question followed the questionnaire, and the qualitative analysis of its replies confirmed that Facebook is an indispensable global channel of communication that cannot be easily ignored and, with the nonexistence of a better alternative, the benefits of keep using Facebook way overshadow any issues users perceive about it.","PeriodicalId":102480,"journal":{"name":"2017 8th International Conference on Information Technology (ICIT)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114461137","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has become an increasingly demanded platform since the existence of WWW in early 1990s. In conjunction with this trending, a study on insights on online purchasing where the study framework embedded the dimensions of information satisfaction, trust, convenience security and purchasing online. A total of 250 questionnaires were distributed randomly to public users at Perpustakaan Awam Raja Tun Uda (PPAS), Shah Alam visitor. The choice of public users is based on the convenience of the research setting where PPAS is the most visited public library by visitors ranging from parents (accompanying their children at kids' section), graduates, primary and secondary school students. All of the posited study variables show a significant relationship with purchasing online. Nevertheless the Net Easy Score (NES was only 19.2%, showing a low index of easiness online purchasing. Early assumptions are that the results obtained could due to the website itself, which might offer a not user-friendly interface or poor network connectivity during the process. While this seems premature to speculate, insights gained from the study could produce some leads to actually increase customer experience through their journey to do online purchase.","PeriodicalId":102480,"journal":{"name":"2017 8th International Conference on Information Technology (ICIT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130359806","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, early diagnosis is crucial for reducing of melanoma-related deaths. Medical Informatics uses the computer technology such as Computer Aided Diagnosis (CAD) for melanoma diagnostic. This paper presents computational intelligence approaches namely, Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Adaptive-Network-based Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS). The dermoscopy images are taken from Dermatology Information System (DermIS) and DermQuest, image enhancement is achieved by various pre-processing approaches. The extracted features are based on Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), and Principle Component Analysis (PCA) is used to take the eigenvalue as features. These features become the input to the various classification approaches such as: ANN and ANFIS to classify the lesions as malignant or benign. The results show the rate of accuracy for ANFIS is 95.18%, while ANN gives higher rate of accuracy about 98.8%. Moreover; the results obtained are compared with other approaches. The comparative results indicated that the proposed feature extraction and classification approaches are more accurate than other approaches in this field of melanoma diagnosis.","PeriodicalId":102480,"journal":{"name":"2017 8th International Conference on Information Technology (ICIT)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115688287","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, due to the continuous effects of customer disruptions such as cancellation, change in sequence and due time on flow shop production, there arise need to develop an adaptive system to respond to the effect of such disruptions. In this ongoing PhD work, we develop a Framework and Agent-Based Model to simulate flow shop production line and investigate the disruptions consequences and recovery strategy. An experimental case study using an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) factory for automotive parts is adopted to verify and validate the proposed system. The new understanding presented in this work offers informed decision-making policies for manufacturing production activities.","PeriodicalId":102480,"journal":{"name":"2017 8th International Conference on Information Technology (ICIT)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133952559","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The need for technology such as social media, e-participation tools and new models of open data to generate big data also have added to these challenges, in addition to the slow adoption of the public sector and citizens for these new concepts of openness and effective interaction through electronic technology. For citizen's improvements the e-participation processes, government innovations, and citizen satisfaction governments need to enhance the collaboration and engagement. As well, it needs to improve the value that delivers inside and outside of government sectors also satisfies the citizens' demands for better services by collecting data from citizens' activities. When e-government utilizing the big data technologies, which offers a new effective technology to provide interactive services, the e-government will be more than just a big and more than just a data. The term of “Big data” must be used in e-government. In this paper, the authors explore a review in big data issues that applied to e-government as well as challenges and issues facing these agencies and proposed a possible solution for the challenges of implementing big data in e-government. Most of the recently published papers clearly show that the challenges are difficult and the growing in terms of big data is increasing exponentially.","PeriodicalId":102480,"journal":{"name":"2017 8th International Conference on Information Technology (ICIT)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134280506","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
