It is based on the balance of distribution of the initial components of the slag or metal over the secondary compounds (phases) formed from them. The equations relating the phase composition to the chemical one are obtained, and a computer program is created on their basis. After setting the chemical composition of the slag from the console and starting it, the computer outputs the phase composition in mass percent, the number of the polytope, its volume, initial and final equations. The method has no restrictions on the number of components considered in the system under study and allows describing five or more component systems that cannot be correctly displayed in three-dimensional space on a plane. Examples of using the model are given. Calculations using the obtained model established that deterioration in the production of carbonaceous ferrochromium from Kazakh ores is due to the movement of slags within the SiO 2 – Al 2 O 3 – MgO triple diagram from the region of magnesia spinel (MgO (cid:26) Al 2 O 3 ) to the region of predominant forsterite crystallization (2MgO (cid:26) SiO 2 ) during transition to use of magnesia ores. A predictive estimation of the phase composition of steel-smelting slags with high basicity is given. It was found out that, on average, they contain high-temperature compounds such as periclase (MgO), dicalcium silicate (Ca 2 SiO 4 ), calcium monoaluminate (CaAl 2 O 4 ), and magnesia spinel (MgAl 2 O 4 ) as phase components. All of them are high-temperature compounds, which determine refractoriness of the slag. Presence of Ca 2 SiO 4 in the slag in a large amount (74 %), capable of polymorphic transformation with a volume change by 12 %, can cause decomposition of slags with formation of dispersed dust, which is hazardous to the environment. The calculation results are confirmed by X-ray phase analysis of the slag. The proposed mathematical model also allows solving inverse problems, i.e. to find the composition of the charge to obtain a product with the desired phase composition. It is known that mechanical properties of sand mixtures on waterglass binder depend directly on the conditions of silicate binder film forming on the surface of refractory filling agent. Investigations aimed on examination of sodium silicate film structure forming depending on heat and chemical setting of mixtures as well as on the type of refractory filling agent were carried out at the first stage. The obtained data of this investigation showed that presence of numerous laminations, cracks in the area of seals and crystals of sodium carbonates (which are stress concentrators) in the film structure of sodium silicate aqueous solution provides the main effect on mechanical properties of sand mixtures on waterglass binder. Forming of these defects, in its turn, requires the conditions which promote running of carbonization process of sodium silicate aqueous solution. The second stage of this research included study of the effect of destruction of carbon-containing additive on integrity violation of a binder film. The existing method of marking applying and possibility of use of universal ac-cessories, which displayed their low efficiency, were analyzed. The existing method of “lofting” is characterized by high labour intensity and low accuracy. Preliminary calculations of fabrication of universal accessories showed that it will be very expensive. The existing problem of low marking accuracy and high labour intensity of this process was solved owing to use of automation equipment. The device for measuring and marking, which is changeable acces-sories for industrial manipulating robot, was developed and described for this purpose. Architecture of the measuring and marking device and its elementary base, which allows to carry out automatic measuring of pipe bend billet, to conduct the required mathematical calculations and to apply marking, was described. The developed technique for measuring of pipe bend billet, allowing to determine the coordinates of basic points in the coordinate system of manipulating robot, was also described. Automation of transfer of the developed measuring and marking device was implemented via use of the industrial manipulating robot of Kuka Robotics company. Laboratorial example of this device was manufactured using the developed digital model. The experimental data that were presented in this paper displayed that accuracy of the laboratorial device corresponds to accuracy of marking applying via the existing technology and preliminary decrease of labour intensity was achieved about 50 %. The revealed disadvantages of construction of the laboratorial example of device were also described. This steel is characterized by high hardness (HRC 64-67), excellent heat resistance up to 700 °C, good wear resistance and is suitable for cutting of stainless steels with hardness up to 50 HRC. Nanostructured wear-resistant high-hard coatings with high physical and mechanical properties, resistance to impact and vibration loads promotes increase of wear resistance and service life of band saws. The films of hard diamond-like carbon (DLC), containing amorphous carbon with disordered graphite ordering, which is striving to a tetrahedral diamond-like coordination, are interesting for material scientists due to their excellent mechanical and tribological properties. Dense and hard carbon films with structure of nanoparticles having size 12-17 nm, were applied on high-speed steel M42 (according to AISI) via the method of high-frequency magnetronic sputtering. Microhardness of DLC film of high-speed steel M42 (M42 HSS) by Vickers with the coating thickness 800 nm was 838±19 in comparison with 783±18 for a clean sample of the same steel. When studying the influence of these sintering parameters on agglomerate strength, it is necessary to take into account content of not assimilated calcium oxides in sinter. Strength binding of agglomerate is formed on the base of calcium ferrites. Investigations were conducted on aluminium oxide of PA grade, Fe 2 O 3 , CaCO 3 of PA grade, aqueous silicic acid of P grade. Stability of sinters for above-mentioned systems was determined visually and using high-frequency method. In the first case the high-temperature Tamman furnace is used, where briquetted samples are put in a platinum cup and they are heated up to the temperature 1300 (cid:15) C. Then, after 5 minutes holding for homogenization, the samples are cooled slowly together with the furnace to the temperature 500 (cid:16)(cid:15) C. To determine the temperature of (cid:9)(cid:12)(cid:13) transition of dical-cium silicate, dielectric permeability is measured; it reacts on structural changes which cause variation of density. The boundary of sinters stability is situated along the line which is close to galenite. The part of aluminium oxide interacts with dicalcium ferrite and forms solid solutions together with complete Fe replacement by Al in dicalcium ferrite. Stable sinters are characterized by monotonous variation of dielectric losses and capacity in the conditions of complete dicalcium silicate binding by aluminium oxide. It was established that monocalcium ferrite does not form new compounds with aluminium oxide, which completely interacts with dicalcium silicate. The stable samples of the system CaFe 2 O 4 –Ca 2 SiO 4 –Al 2 O 3 are characterized by increase of alumosilicate amount and decrease of dicalcium silicate amount. When Ca 2 SiO 4 content decreases from 45 % to 28 %, the temperature reduces from 390–405 (cid:15) C до 265–275 (cid:16)(cid:15) C. Agglomerate containing 7 % of alumina practically does not contain free calcium oxide, what removes the cause of stresses appearing in the sinter. The process of forming of dispersed phase in presence of OН - , CO 32-, PO 43-ions, as well as flocculants of anion, cation and non-ion types is studied. It was shown that efficiency of electroflotation process depends directly on dispersity and electrokinetic potential of particles, which are determined by acidity and ion composition of the medium. Maximal average hydrodynamic diameter of dispersed phase of low-soluble manganese compounds were observed in the pH area 10-11, what corresponded to minimal solubility of dispersed phase. In this case the process of electroflotation extraction passed with maximal efficiency, extraction degree achieved 96 %. Introduction of cation flocculant in solutions allowed to rise extraction degree up to 98 %. Addition of CO 32-and PO 43-ions in solutions caused shift of @ -potential of dispersed phase in the area of negative values (-18 mV and -33 mV respectively), what finalized in complication of forming of flotation complexes “particle - Н 2 , О 2 bubbles” and to complication of coagulation processes. Extraction degree did not exceed 10 % in both cases.
