The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of different factors which include potato genotypes (Roko and SM kaghan varieties), chemical treatments i.e GA3, thiourea, Thiourea+GA3 and sugar under light and dark storage conditions. It was found that between varieties, Roko responded better than SM kaghan to various chemical treatments regarding number of days to dormancy breaking. It was found that the growth hormone GA3 (gibberellic acid) in combination with thiourea can significantly increase sprouting percentage to 100% under dark conditions after 31 days of application. However, it was observed that after planting of the treated tubers the emergence percentage, and minituber yield did not show any significant effect of the three experimental treatments in comparison with control. It is therefore concluded that tuber treatment with thiourea+GA3 and store in dark can decrease the dormancy duration without having any negative effect on plant physiological growth and tuber yield.

However, the rate of adoption of agricultural technologies is low. This study aims to assess the magnitude of the adoption of selected agricultural technologies and their effect on farm income in Bagamati Province, Nepal. We adopted a multi-stage sampling method and surveyed 180 randomly selected households. We used multiple ordinary least square regression model to measure the effect of the adoption of agricultural technology on farm income in the study area. The results indicate that the most adopted technologies in the study area are improved varieties, mini tillers, sprayers, water pumps, and integrated pest management whereas the least adopted are plastic tunnel, drip irrigation, agriculture mobile application, plastic mulching, and rainwater harvesting. Few households have adopted more technologies. The results also revealed that if the number of technology adopted increases by one unit, the farm income increases by 20.6%. This is significant at the 1% level. The result showed that farm size (p=0.008), and membership in farmer’s group/cooperative (p=0.01) also have a significant positive impact on farm income. Promoting broader adoption of appropriate technologies among farmers helps to boost income generation. Policymakers and stakeholders are suggested to encourage technology adoption among commercial vegetable growers through training, access to inputs and technologies, and organizing them in groups or cooperatives.

This study investigated the residual effects of different soil amendments of Palm Oil Mill Effluents (POME), cow dung, and NPK fertilizer, on soil chemical properties in two locations: Ekiti State University Teaching and Research Farm (EKSU) and Onu-Ijelu High School Agricultural Farm. The aim is to evaluate the long-term impact of these commonly used organic and inorganic nutrient sources on soil properties. The research utilizes a randomized complete block deign replicated three times to test the residual effect of the treatments. The research was divided into first and second trial, the result presented here is based on the outcome of the second trial. At the termination of the residual trial, it was found that organic matter contents of soils treated with cow-dung and POME increased while that of the NPK fertilizer reduced. There was a decrease in soil pH on soils treated with NPK fertilizer but found to increase on soils treated with POME and cow-dung. Other nutrient elements including exchangeable cations were also found to increase in soils with POME and Cow-dung. This phenomenon was attributed to mineralization process which made nutrients stored-up in these organic materials to be released slowly and at the same time reducing their loss from the soil. It was concluded that nutrients from organic sources have a longer residual advantage to soil and can be used in combination with inorganic fertilizer for better soil management. The findings from these result provides valuable insights into the long-term effect of these soil amendments and can help farmers and researchers make informed decisions about their appropriate and sustainable use in agriculture.

A field experiment was conducted in Dongola Agricultural Research Farm, Northern State, for two successive seasons to investigate the effect of three type of ploughing; heavy disc harrow (H1), disc plough (H2) and no-ploughing (H3), and three land leveling techniques, Laser (L), Scraper (S) and traditional (T),on wheat production. The experiment was arranged in a strip split plot design and the treatments were replicated three times. \u0000The results indicated that effective field capacity, fuel consumption, and slippage were significantly affected by ploughing method. Laser land leveling recorded the highest fuel consumption (16.3 L/hr), and the lowest field efficiency (55%). while the heavy disc harrow recorded the highest effective field capacity (0.98 ha/hr), field efficiency (71.2%) and wheel slippage (8.1%). The soil moisture content (db %) was increased with time and depth. The highest mean soil moisture content was obtained with the laser land leveling and heavy disc harrow treatment at 75-100cm soil depth as 24.82%. The results revealed that the highest average grain yield (4.63 ton/ha) and infiltration rate (31cm/hr) were also recorded by the laser land leveling and heavy disc harrow. The treatments showed significant differences at the 5% level between the treatments for the parameters measured. Multiple regression analysis showed a highly significant effect (P≤ 0.001) of laser leveling with disc harrow ploughing on grain yield, compared to the other treatments used in the study (R2 = 0.40). The relation between the grain yield (Y) and the treatments: X1 ploughing, X2 leveling is summarized in the following equation: \u0000Y = 2.875 + 0.552X1 + 0.254X2 \u0000The study concluded that, although Laser leveling has increased the grain yield with high cost, yet it is not an expensive technique when the cost is distributed over the period of Laser leveling. The highest grain yield was obtained by the heavy disc harrow with laser land leveling.

Both the larval and adult stages of insect are considered as voracious feeder of cereals. The adult of T. castinium secrete certain type of excretion that give foul smell from grains and make it unfit for consumption. The recent study was conducted in Department of Entomology College of Agriculture Bahauddin Zakariya University, Bahadur sub campus Layyah. Neem (Azadirachta indica)L. and Datura (Datura stramonium)L. ethanol extracts were tested for their repellant and toxicological effects against the larval and adult stages of T. castinium at varying concentrations of 10, 15, and 30ml. The results showed that D. stramonium plant extract recorded highest repellency (86.66%) and the lowest repellency (4.50%) against T. castinium. Minimum mortality was reported at 65% in plant extract of A. indica after an interval of 24 hours at 10ml concentration, and maximum mortality was recorded (90.69%) in plant extract of D. stramonium at 30ml concentration after an interval of 72 hours. The results showed that neem and Datura plant extracts were more effective at repelling and toxicologically acting against T. castinium. The larval stage of T. castinium was also particularly vulnerable to D. stramonium and A. indica ethanol extract.

As such, the government of Rwanda has taken great strides to develop the coffee production sector particularly in developing infrastructure impacted by the genocide and implementing policies to ensure sustainable growth. This study aimed to give an economic analysis of the coffee market in Rwanda. It examined the factors affecting the coffee market and identified the major in the market globally and regionally and used them as a benchmark for comparison. The study showed various measures being taken to increase the quantity of coffee produced including increasing the area of harvested coffee following a drop in area from a high of 55 000 hectares in 2014 to 21 700 hectares in 2019. Rwanda’s National Agricultural Export Board implemented measures to improve yields and production quality through providing fertilizers, improving management of wash stations and engaging private stakeholders and NGOs to train farmers in smart agriculture techniques. Consequentially the quantity of coffee produced and exported improved between 2014 and 2019.

In both seasons each experiment was carried out in a split plot design with three replicates. The results suggested that magnetized irrigation saline water and the magnetic pre-sowing grains treatment led to reduce of EC and soil pH and the increasing of availability macro-micronutrients contents in the soil Magnetic treated of both seeds and irrigation water salinity led to an increase of yield components and quality for wheat plant as well as the increase of macro-micronutrients concentrations in straw and wheat grains plant Finally, the technique of magnetic field in agricultural fields could be a promising technique for agricultural improvement but extensive research is still required to many studies in the future.

This study aims at contributing to the existing literature related to socio-economics analysis of beekeeping farmers and their impact on production, and highlights the opinion on challenges and opportunities of small scale beekeeping farmers. \u0000Study Design & Methodology: A descriptive cross-sectional research design was employed in the study across the region with the main objective of determining the socio-demographic factors and output of beekeeping farmers. The study engaged 47 randomly selected beekeepers and random sampling technique was used. The study employed the multiple regression models to analyse the factors affecting honey production among small-scale beekeeping farmers. \u0000Results: The results indicate that majority (70.2%) of respondents were male apiculture farmers, averagely aged 32 years old, attained secondary education (51.0%), majority of interviewed farmers had less than 5 years of experience in apiculture, and about 31% of the small scale beekeeping farmers used traditional and Swazi top bar hives. The results also revealed that a large percentage of farmers obtained only between E1,001 and E2,500 in income from the beekeeping farming. The regression model results indicated that experiences in beekeeping and number of hives were significantly related to honey produced by the beekeeping farmers. The results also revealed that apiculture farmers interviewed indicated that they had poor access to technical support, limited access government support, poor access to financial credit, use of ICT in marketing their produce and limited access to extension services related to beekeeping. \u0000Recommendations: This study recommends that in addition to improved access to beekeeping financial support and number of bee hives, the government, private sector and other organisations promoting improved livelihoods of smallholder beekeeping farmers should formulated and implement strategies aimed at increased access to extension services mostly related to technical support and use of digital technology to enable increased production and marketing of farmers’ output.
